Spent 2 nights here with my husband, 6 year old daughter and mother and we absolutely loved it. We were in cottage 3, two bedrooms with a queen bed in one and twin and double in the other so it was truly made for our needs. It was our first family vacation and first time to PEI for all except my husband so I did a ton of online research about where to stay. The reviews were what sold me on The Pines.
Starting with location, this place is a real diamond. 15 minutes down the road from Cavendish Beach and Sandspit. Right on the river, with a restaurant at the end of the road (pricey food but a patio and it's all part of the experience). Most notably, after driving around and seeing how exposed or cramped or right on the main road the other properties were, we felt spoiled with our location that has a sprawling yard with privacy thanks to the river and being in off the main rode. Cottage 3 especially removes you from the world as it looks out onto the trees between the property and the river. It's also right by the play structure so I could watch my daughter play from our deck or living room window. The pool was a huge hit with her too, and she was in there 3-4 times. It's 5 ft at the deep end so better than most hotel pools! There are Adirondack chairs, loungers, pool noodles and floaties supplied and towels are available for the pool from the office.
When we walked into the cottage, we could smell cleaner. Not offensively strong, just enough to know the place was thoroughly cared for between guests.
We truly wanted for nothing in this cottage. All amenities were there to be found, even a barbecue lighter. Each bedroom had a fan, there's an AC in the living room, and a spot to hang coats behind the TV. The space is utilized very smartly. Special shout out to the beds, which were AWESOME, with nice soft pillows. Extra blankets were found in the dressers.
There was also a handy binder on the table with all the property information and furthermore about the town and all nearby attractions and resources, like where the closest pharmacy was for example.
Because we were there on weekdays, it was quiet. We didn't see many other guests, though there were other vehicles. It made for relaxing nights and easy sleeping.
Lastly, the owner? What a lovely guy. So personable, very easy to talk to. A call away at any time, and easy to find when we checked in and out.
We were so happy here, we plan on returning every summer and always to cottage 3 if possible.

One thing to note was my GPS took us down some sketchy one lane dirt road about 15 minutes before our arrival. No idea why, but the owner said several people mentioned it to him, because I'm sure like us they were confused and a little scared lol so perhaps double check your routing if you're using GPS. The main roads will get you to The Pines easily.

Larry's very warm welcome when we checked in set the high standard of service that he maintained throughout our stay! We stayed in cottage #8 and it was spotless when we arrived. They have also finished lots of updates on the interior so it is probably their best unit right now. When we saw that the cottage only had a shower (no tub) and because we had our little granddaughter with us Larry very quickly found a portable tub that made the place perfect again!! He also recommended the Blue Mussel Restaurant in North Rustico for a special supper and he was quite right about the high quality of food to be found there. We would definitely stay with Larry again if we return to PEI.

First off PEI is one of my favourite places in the world; this was my children’s first trip to PEI and it was perfect. We came to the island for a wedding with 3 children and a dog in tow. We stayed in the suite at the pines for a long weekend we won’t forget.

When we arrived we were taken back by the gorgeously decorated suite. No detail was over looked in creating this incredible space. Pure luxury is what comes to mind. A full kitchen with a dining room was perfect for not only feeding our crew but entertaining friends as well. 2 living rooms means kids can go to one area and the adults in another(talk about perfect!!) The bathroom was spacious and the Murphy bed, pull out couch and two bedrooms meant EVERYONE had a bed.....not usually an option when staying in a hotel with a large family. The private deck overlooking the property was perfect for entertaining, star gazing and BBQing even while the kids slept inside. We had not only a gorgeous space and privacy but a great view.

It’s also worth noting the heated pool(even in the cold and rain) were a crowd pleasure. And the grounds were a great way to start each day.

The owners them selves are fantastic hosts!! Kind, energetic, understanding and very accommodating. It’s clear they take pride in ownership. We had other friends staying in the motel and the other rooms are also thoughtfully decorated and set up for comfort with class. You can’t go wrong by booking a room here. They have taken this motel to a whole other level......it seems strange to even call it a motel.

Definitely our new go to spot for accommodations on the island

My fiancé and I shared one of the cabins with friends and there was more than enough room for all of us, besides who wants to spend their holiday indoors when the island is so beautiful. We were pleased with how well the property and rooms were cared for and that most cabins have recently been renovated. The host Larry was extremely accommodating and friendly. He gladly loaned us a big pot to cook our lobster dinner in. The location was perfect since it was only a few minutes from the small village of Rustico where there was a grocery store, liquor store, tourist shops, and places where we could get our seafood fix. We loved being able to take a dip in the heated pool to relax after our day adventuring and our crew also loved being able to sit around the bonfire and socialize at night. There is a motel with rooms on the same property and lots of little cabins, so it was perfect for all of the wedding guests coming from near and far to all be together.

I can't say enough wonderful things about this little hidden gem. The Pines was a highlight stop on our East coast tour. The motel room was newly renovated and made us feel like at home. With little cute touches like cozy mugs to enjoy your coffee while watching the view from your comfortable Muskoka chair, this place made you feel like you were relaxing. The staff was super friendly and helpful! The room was very clean and well stocked. We totally appreciated the playground for the kids to play, the great pool area to unwind after a long day and the use of the bbqs on site! We were able to cook our own fresh caught fish! What a dream. The location is ideal for quick access to groceries, a lovely board walk for an evening stroll along the harbour in North Rustico where you can get the best ice cream! We hope to come back!

I can’t even explain how much we loved staying here. From the moment we reserved to the moment we checked out, we received above and beyond customer service. Larry and his team were absolutely amazing! The kids loved the pool, the park and they LOVED Larry! Although we were told there was only 1 small cottage left, the size was perfect perfect perfect for us! The view of the river is breathtaking. A restaurant that’s walking distance, 2 min walk made easy when we got hungry. I would definitely go back! My heart is full and so happy to say we made new friends🥰 Thank you Mark, Angela😘 and a BIG THANK YOU to Larry❤️

Location ! location ! location!! Motel is centralized in the middle of the island with many beaches very close by. Day trips can be planned to see other sides of the island. Owners are so charming and welcoming to all their guests. We stayed in Suite 1, the views were breathtaking, the decor was stunning. Will definitely be going back and we highly recommend this property!!

Me and my family spent four nights at the motel, I can't say enough good things about it. Larry and Mark are very friendly and welcoming. The room was beautiful and clean. It had a mini fridge, coffee maker and the air conditioner was a life saver in the heat wave. The pool was very clean and a wonderful way to cool down. It was close to Cavendish and the beach. We loved it and would defiantly book again. Thank you for making our first family trip a success.

I started looking for a place to stay in PEI in January 2022 and after days of calling I happened upon the Pines. I talked to Mark during a PEI snowstorm and got our 2 weeks booked and one for family. A little worried because I took the only thing available. I need not have worried. We had cabin 5 with a truly magical view. Nicely appointed the cabin was perfect for a hub from which to travel from. The pool was heated, our granddaughters loved it and the playground. It was also safe for them to walk from their room in the hotel to us. The very large yard was perfect for golf practicing, quiet moments and kite flying. Larry is the ultimate host and works tirelessly to make sure your stay is perfect in every way. This hotel is a short drive from the golf courses, Cavendish and other beaches and central to heading out to explore PEI. The Captain’s Cove restaurant just across the road is excellent. A short drive takes you to Fisherman’s Wharf of the New Glasgow Lobster Suppers and many more attractions.
If you can get into The Pines you will not be disappointed.

Can't say enough about this motel. Inexpensive, extremely clean, above quality sheets, pillows and towels and beds are so comfortable. Owner was very pleasant and informative on the local Lobster Supper restaurant which is a must . 5 course meals with a wonderful atmosphere at an inexpensive cost for what you get. Absolutely loved our visit here.
