Great Stay, Greater Owner

Review of Pines Motel
Reviewed Oct 11, 2022
We stayed two nights on our trip to the Maritimes. It was a long drive for us up from where we started in Maine and we needed to do laundry. The owner took my cash and assisted me in locating the washing machines and dryer on the property. I was so thankful we did not have to go hunt for a laundry mat after being on the road 1.5 weeks. The room was like a little apartment. It was clean and tastefully decorated showing pride in ownership. We didn't cook much but enjoyed the extra room. We didn't use the pool or hang out at the river because it rained the 2 days were were there. It's in walking distance to Joe's Seafood right down the road. The owner was fabulous in assisting me when I needed to have my covid specimen picked up to send to the lab. Yes, I was one of the lucky ones "randomly selected" for testing when crossing into Canada. The whole process was terribly unorganized and chaotic with the designated vendor which resulted in more effort on my part, and that of the hotel owner. I can't thank him enough for stepping up for us while we were on vacation. A hotel is more than a room. Thank you. We'll be back if we ever venture into Canada again!

To cut it short (more detailed version below): BOOK! GO! ENJOY! You won´t regret it!

Extended version: We wanted to explore PEI for a couple of days, so we looked around (virtually) and came across Pines Motel & Cottages - especially the "cottages" part was very interesting so we booked a cottage for four days without thinking too much - one of the best decisions for this vacation!

The whole atmosphere right from check in was so positive, friendly and welcoming!

At first glance, the cottage looked a little older, but at second glance we were thrilled with the shower, the beds, the comprehensive equipment, from hand soap to dishwashing liquid and disinfectant solution. I also like to be greeted by the smell of cleaning supplies, call it a quirk, but smelling it makes me feel good and clean - I'm a very olfactory person :-).

However, the cottage was very clean, well equipped and the waterfront location just a dream (header picture of my tripadvisor profile is taken in front of our cottage).

This is a real gem, I´d definitely come back and definitely recommend it!

Can't say enough about this motel. Inexpensive, extremely clean, above quality sheets, pillows and towels and beds are so comfortable. Owner was very pleasant and informative on the local Lobster Supper restaurant which is a must . 5 course meals with a wonderful atmosphere at an inexpensive cost for what you get. Absolutely loved our visit here.

I started looking for a place to stay in PEI in January 2022 and after days of calling I happened upon the Pines. I talked to Mark during a PEI snowstorm and got our 2 weeks booked and one for family. A little worried because I took the only thing available. I need not have worried. We had cabin 5 with a truly magical view. Nicely appointed the cabin was perfect for a hub from which to travel from. The pool was heated, our granddaughters loved it and the playground. It was also safe for them to walk from their room in the hotel to us. The very large yard was perfect for golf practicing, quiet moments and kite flying. Larry is the ultimate host and works tirelessly to make sure your stay is perfect in every way. This hotel is a short drive from the golf courses, Cavendish and other beaches and central to heading out to explore PEI. The Captain’s Cove restaurant just across the road is excellent. A short drive takes you to Fisherman’s Wharf of the New Glasgow Lobster Suppers and many more attractions.
If you can get into The Pines you will not be disappointed.

Room tip: We found that I think some restaurants in the area are having staffing issues as the hours are not always as listed on media sites.

Everything was perfect! Beautiful new full size fridge, stove and microwave. The kitchen was stocked with all you would need and the dishes were gorgeous. Spotless clean, and quiet. The pool was beautiful and there were outdoor games as well as a bonfire pit. Super close to everything! Owners and staff are amazing!

This is the best place to stay. The owners Larry and Mark go out of their way for you. If you need anything they will provide it for you. The view is amazing. The pool is heated with plenty of lounge chairs.
