If you are interested in the history of Montreal, this museum is a fun and interactive way to explore it. The museum uses technology to create a unque experience for visitors. We spent about 4 hours before being "museumed" out. Not recommended for small children, but kids 7+ should find it engaging.

Excellent look at history in the city. The experience does require guests to engage with the content by listening to the audios. I’d recommend 1 hour or 2 if you’re really into history.

This museum is well laid out and very informative. My 18year old daughter and I visited and we were both saddened and moved by the history of the Jewish people. Having actual articles from families and survivors was incredible that people were able to save these items and share them with the world. I can only hope and pray that this kind of “cleansing” does not happen again. Although sadly, world events say we may be doomed to repeat our past history.

We had a few hiccups starting out, Trip Advisor had the opening time wrong and they only give tours at pre-set times, either in English or in French. The staff were able to accommodate us though and we were able to get a tour, which lasted an hour. I wish it was longer, it was very informative.

The church was free to enter but then there were charges if you wanted to visit the museum so we decided we’d seen enough of old Montreal.
Still worth visiting this cute church with some amazing stained glass windows.
Not sure why this is under shopping here, it’s a church and museum!

We got a nice tour with a lot of explanations, my kids loved it! It was a great half day outing. Downstairs they have a nice bunch of games to teach you some history, good for the citizenship exam practice unless they make significant changes. It is a well kept place and a nice thing to add to your list if you are touring Montreal, esp since there are several other attractions nearby in the Old Port area. It's not expensive either. It's good to be a tourist sometimes, if you live here you don't get to do it that much.

We had a great day at this museum and enjoyed the combination of the dig with the story of the city. There are some gaps in the history story which I wish had been filled. What happened to the old industrial neighborhoods that have apparently been bulldozed? Anyway, it was very interesting. Great for kids because of the multi-media.

This open air museum is free to enter and is located at the end of canal Lachine. There are numerous structures at permanent display here which may require a few hours to explore thoroughly. The area is very popular with locals on a weekend for picnics and gathering. If you want to have more space and peace to explore, it's better to go during the day.

Indeed a nice little aviation museum. In fact it is a 'living room' and a 'garage' for aviation enthusiasts. Many details are waiting to be discovered.
All the best from Germany for this very passionate / inspired staff.

I went to Écomusée as one of my first stops during a three day stay in Montreal. It was a Wednesday night, so quite quiet and I had most of the place to myself! I got a great intro into what the building used to be - a public baths for a number of people without baths in their own homes.

The permanent exhibit about workers lives and conditions in early Montreal industry was really interesting and well done. It was cool to read about some parts of history that the bigger museums don’t always explore. Plus, what a beautiful building! Definitely a stop anyone should make if they have an additional 1-2 hours during their visit to the city.

The museum has many types of gramophones, stereos, and recording equipment on display. The story of Emile Berliner and his company’s importance to the Canadian recording industry is quite impressive.

This place is directly above Ben & Jerry's. It showcases contemporary paintings by diverse indigenous artists from around Canada, as well as Inuit soapstone sculptures, beaded leather handicrafts, and giant dreamcatchers. Their gift shop section has a small but nicely curated selection of high quality souvenirs made by Indigenous-owned businesses, like handmade soap, beautiful beaded earrings, local fruit preserves, and ethically harvested sage bundles and sweetgrass.
