This is a very crazy area we came across walking from our nearby hotel on Sherbrook Avenue going towards Notre Dame cathedral and the old town. We first ate at Eggspectation and then continued our walk noticing what a change a few hours produced: from being rather quiet at 10am to being very lively at mid day. I would expect in the evening to be poor madness.

Lots of shops, restaurants, coffee places etc - a typical touristic area.

Fun venue for comedy. Beautiful space. They packed us in like sardines for Just for Laughs. During the late show is was not possible to get drink service.

Visiting Montreal and a group of 7 of us went to the Wednesday night variety show. What an absolute blast! The performers were all excellent, the host was funny and charming, and the cocktails strong and delicious. A real highlight of our trip! Just the right amount of naughty and the right amount of nice.

Good size venue for events with balcony. Recently added two events here. Mask are not required. Also surprised there are no bag checks. Nice staffing but difficult to reach anyone during day.

Saw Jimmy Buffett here and the venue and its staff were awesome. Sound was amazing. Awesome experience. Reasonsable priced drinks can't wait for the next time I go.

Loved the show I saw and the fact I was sitting in middle of the row way up high was not a problem as I find myself a better listener when I can observe the whole room. It was good to disconnect for a while and to laugh it off with my brother.

The Comédie de Montréal is a theater-café that opened in May 2016 thanks to Jamin Chtouki. This theater offers various plays that have been successful in Europe: "10 ans de mariage”, “Les hommes viennent de mars, les femmes de vénus", "Le clan des divorcées", etc. In addition, one of the big advantages is that it is located only a few steps from Metro Berri UQAM.

The Comédie de Montréal always has something new to offer throughout the year; one of the newest shows is "Couscous au bacon". It is a comedy about a couple with different cultures that would like to get married. The scenario includes plenty of sensitive topics but with a touch of humor. Jamin Chtouki and Carole Thomas are very good in the roles. Be sure to see it!

I cannot speak highly enough about the staff at L'Astral!

Last week Wednesday I set out on a solo trip to Montreal with no real plans. I got into town, checked into my hotel, sat down, turned on Curling, opened Facebook and saw that a good friend's son was playing a gig that night just an 11 minute walk away from my hotel. After I got over the shame I felt for not knowing sooner he was playing while I was in town, I contacted him and his parents and bought a ticket.

Uber got me there really quick (it was POURING with rain otherwise I would have walked) and I was greeted so nicely by the staff. I waited to go in, got in, went and bought a beer and the bartenders were so nice!!

Saw my friend's son prior to him taking the stage (he plays bass for Mac Ayres) then followed up with him after. The security staff kept asking me if I was ok, if I needed anything, one brought me a chair that I didn't ask for or need. But they saw that I knew this young man and we were both from out of town and seemed to go out of their way to make us feel welcome. It was just unexpected and nice! Great first impression for a city I have never been in at a venue I had never heard of.

The sound was excellent in there and the prices for drinks was beyond reasonable (especially with my US exchange rate).

The service staff from last Wednesday, November 27th, 2019 really needs to be acknowledged for being so kind, helpful, attentive, etc. What true assets to the organization!!

This was our first visit to this theater inaugurated in March 1995 as the new home of well-known Quebec theatrical group Carbone 14. Set in a converted industrial factory (built in 1913 and in operation until the 1970s) that maintained its old architectural traits, it features dance, theatre, music and other events in a truly hip space.
The center has two halls with 440 and 120 places, in additional to a rehearsal studio, an exposition hall, and more recently a bistro-style café-restaurant.
The large hall was just a great setting for the dance-theater "The Great Tamer" by Dimitris Papaioannou, famous for having conceived and directed the opening and closing ceremonies of the Athens 2004 Olympics. Lasting 100 minutes with no intermission, Papaioannou's 10-person company put on a unique visual delight exploring time, the meaning of life, birth and death, destruction and reconstruction..

If you're into anything contemporary then La Chapelle is definitely a place you'd like to visit. I've been there twice for contemporary dancing shows and I really liked the vibe of that place. The seats are not the most comfortable but they do the job. The main stage is wide although the rest of the room is rather small. It is located not so far from the St-Laurent Boulevard and is easily accessible via public transit.
