WOW! Captain Kirk or William Shatner went to a great school. It’s a Beautiful campus on the edge of Mont’ Royal Park and continues through certain parts of Montreal. Some of the architecture is like a military stone and other structures are more like medieval fairy tale castles. I noticed from the internet that it has a law school and a medical school. It’s a little more generous in acceptance rate than UVA while a little more challenging than Virginia Tech. It has a larger endowment than Virginia Tech and is ranked higher by US News, than both Tech and UVA.

I studied at UdeM, as the university is commonly known. It's a nice enough university, with some nice architecture if you know where to look. The main hall of Roger-Gaudry (the ubiquitous building with the huge tower, which is the health sciences building) is a pretty nice place, and there's a bunch of old doors and wooden staircases throughout the building. You also get a really nice view of the city from on top of the mountain, although the stairs are kind of tedious to climb; there's a free bus shuttle that goes from Université de Montréal metro all the way up the mountain.

The other buildings are more recent, so they're not as interesting to see. Parking is expensive, and the food in the school is your typical university food.

If you're around, because you're visiting the basilica or for any other reason, it's a nice place to walk past, but don't take a detour just to see it.

I was a tourist in the city and found that the university gym was only $8 for a day pass. So I went to le gym. It was actually free for a firtst visit. The gym was huge and well equipped. 5 power racks but only 2 bench stations. Its an option for you when travelling.

.Around Berri Metro, this University was created on the premise of giving access to Higher Education to Workers..I studied Law there spo I have used the Facilities abundantly. Their Library at the Pavillon Judith Jasmin is great, although since the new Bibliotheque Nationale opened next door, I go there now, to check on Mags, Movies, Books and Newspapers. UQAM has integrated an old Church Steeple in its St Denis Facade. Across it, is the old Ecole Polytechnique (now on the UdeMtl Campus). The magnificent limestone building now houses UQAM'S Business School. UQAM also has a great Coop (on Ste Catherine, 3 blocks west of St Denis) , a good place to buy a Laptop, printer..etc.,Direct access underground to the Berri Metro makes this great in Winter or Rainy Days. Several art Exhibits are usually on-going..but all in French. .

The history of this seminary is really amazing, make sure you look it up! Even better sit on a bench at Place d'Armes and read about it! Right next to Notre Dame. Not open to the general public, but you can peer through the gate!
