- phvi2617Anaheim, CA640 contributionsThis is the largest church in Canada, and it's notable in that the exterior was built in a renaissance style while the interior is Art Deco. Although the inside is a bit austere, its monumental scale is still very impressive. I was fortunate to hear a terrific concert on the basilica organ while I was there.
The oratory has an interesting history, and there are several sacred places related to its founder, St. Andre Bessette, including his tomb, the original chapel, and the beautiful votive chapel. There is also a museum, but it's only open until 4:30 PM. There are beautiful paintings of Montréal's Catholic history in the aisles, and music during mass was terrific. It's a nice looking church built in the English Gothic Revival architecture style. The interiors is a relaxing place with frescoes on the walls and ceiling. - Gino BNewmarket, Canada349 contributionsThis beautiful church, located in little Italy, was built almost entirely by Italian immigrants from the region of Molise in Italy. They built it to commemorate sighting of the madonna in la difesa, Casacalenda, Moilse. It's also special to me as I was baptized in this church.
The controversy about the the Mussolini fresco is exaggerated since it was done before the wars and is a tribute to his handling of the Roman question whereby the Vatican was granted independent state status in perpetuity.

I came here for a wedding. The parish of La Visitation was founded in 1736. It is also one of the oldest churches in Montreal. In 1850 the church was expanded because it needed more space for the residents in the area. The church is just beautiful in a great area next to the river with a lot of parking space. The ceremony was really nice and the singer was also amazing. The architecture of this church is very unique and has a Victorian/Roman style to its architecture. Amatu’l-Bahá Rúhíyyih Khánum, daughter of the Maxwells and wife of Shoghi Effendi, Guardian of the Bahá’í Faith, explained the importance of this Shrine in these words: “Things arise in historic perspective as time goes by. This is the only private home in Canada where ‘Abdu’l-Bahá stayed. After His visit, it was always considered blessed by having been used by Him. The Rabbi Asher Jacoboson is a great speaker and does his sermons on Saturday during Shabbos. He also does classes on Tanya and his way of explaining things is at every level. It is a very welcoming place come and join us for services if you are out of town.Btw this place is for everyone that needs a place for spiritual wisdom or prayers. They offer services for marriage, bar mitzvahs, weddings and funerals and if you need to speak to a Rabbi he is a great listener and has great wisdom to help, you see it in a different light. I will say many come to the place of worship. The building itself was made a long time ago and the glass windows are from the glass of other synagogues collected from the holocaust it has a very interesting history. I always like to pop into a church if not to pray then to contemplate - are they different ? And the location of this is particularly handy.
Don't just walk on by. Maybe you’d like a Shabbat dinner or a social event. Relationships classes, Kabbalah classes, holiday celebrations. The people are amazing and community is warm and friendly.
