This was my first experience staying in a Melia chain hotel and it was exceptional! This is what I was looking for when visiting Barcelona on my business trip. I needed to look for somewhere central to visit certain places and this hotel was perfect for me. The hotel has a comfortable welcoming at entrance, bar/restaurant was busy daily which was great to see and there was even a corporate fashion beauty event which the hotel accommodated for the company. Defo will be telling my clients in Barcelona about this hotel if they need hired corporate events for their companies.
The hotel has a spa and gym; however, the gym was very small and busy so tricky to use the equipment there without bumping into someone. The additional restaurants are on the first floor. I was extremely grateful to be upgraded to a level room which was super amazing. Strongly recommend to book one of those rooms if you're staying at the hotel. The room was spacious, amazing walk through in bathroom with surround sound speakers connected to the TV. Finally, the bed was amazing and big for the double room. It was the best sleep I had in a hotel. I didn't want to leave it!
There are many little restaurants nearby to walk and the hotel can help you get a taxi if you request it. otherwise, easy to flag one yourself.

We thoroughly enjoyed our several days at the Melia, midway in our month of travel. Our room was very comfortable, the breakfast selection vast, and the front desk staff were extremely pleasant and helpful.
If you are not driving, you will need a taxi or public transportation to get to the sights.
Since we were traveling for a month, I was delighted to find a laundromat a 5 minute walk down the street. The hotel offered laundry services but we had a considerable amount of clothing and I thought it would just be too expensive to use that.

Great room, good looking hotel, good location, great staff (housekeeping, breakfast). Infact the staff were great!! Hotel room was nice. One major concern. The hotel nickel and dimes you for drinking water. You have to pay for cans of cold water. Despite reserving 2 rooms and spending over $3000 for our stay, providing a few cans of chilled water a day should not be a problem (negligible cost to hotel). But instead, when requested at the front desk, I was recommended to drink tap water (warm) from the bathroom. This is not about sustainability, this is about comfort. The sheer unwillingness to provide a simple service of cold drinking water for a family that stayed there for 6 nights in 2 rooms is the only reason the hotel received 2 star. Hope management at the hotel takes notice.

From start to finish the experience at Melia Sarria was 5*, we checked in early as we had the first flight out of Birmingham to Barcelona. Dani on reception was so accommodating and welcoming. To our surprise he managed to get us checked into the room straight away. Our room was beautiful. We had a little issue with the bath that we mentioned to the reception on the morning of our 2nd day, we spoke to Dani again and he sent Raul to our room to inspect the fault within 30 minutes. Although it was none of his doing he couldn’t have been more apologetic and he arranged for us to be moved to another room. He did let on that we may find the new room a little different…we were blown away. It was the most luxurious hotel room I suspect we will stay in for the rest of our lives. When we bumped into him later on he was so pleased at how happy we were. The breakfast selection was second to none, absolutely amazing and all delicious. We had a meal in the pizza restaurant on our final night and we will be taking about those pizzas until the day we return. We had originally booked a level room and had the lounge access, it’s almost like being all inclusive but not. Delicious snacks (different everyday we were there), evening tapas and a huge selection of hot / soft / alcoholic drinks all to help yourself. Upon checkout we had real issues with our transport back to the airport that didn’t arrive (not booked via the hotel). Marc on reception couldn’t have been more helpful and sorted us a taxi so we had nothing to worry about in regards to missing our flights. I just cannot fault a single thing. I also had a treatment in the spa that was wonderful. The hotel is spotlessly clean and smells beautiful the moment you pass the front doors. I cannot recommend this hotel enough. Thank you to all your wonderful and attentive staff. You made our trip.

The restaurant staff (Hola Ricardo!) is fabulous! They went out of their way to be kind and attentive, going so far as to give us an ice pack nightly for my spouses knee injury. We were also taken care of by the concierge, who recommended a delicious restaurant for dinner that ended up being our best meal during our visit to Barcelona.
My review is lacking a star because of the accommodations. While the lobby is bright and updated, the hallways and rooms are dark, old, and in need of attention with worn furniture and fixtures. Our room smelled like it had been sealed up for an extended period of time. The shower is oddly designed with no shelf for your personal toiletries. Shower gel, shampoo, and conditioner were provided.
The included breakfast was typical and decent in its simplicity. Set in a bright, clean dining room, it was a nice way to begin a day of tourism.
Dark and unattractive rooms aside, the staff was truly remarkable. Upon a renovation, we would stay again.

Hotel was very nice, room was spacious, large bathroom, friendly staff. Surprisingly , the pizza in the restaurant was top notch. The neighborhood is cute, half a block to Diagonal. You can taxi to downtown, Tibidabo, and Barcelonetta for 10-15eu. Our room overlooked the front entrance/ park, and it was very noisy throughout the night. So if that’s a thing for you, request a room away from the front. Also, the elevators to the rooms are really close to the front doors and there is no security check or requirement to present your room key so anyone can walk in and access the elevator. I would recommend the hotel look into upgrading the elevator security. Overall good experience.

I’ve stayed in this hotel several times in the last 15 years whilst in Barcelona on business. The accommodation is excellent, the food is very good. There are lots of restaurants close by and also close to the tram to connect to the underground system, if you want to head into the heart of Barcelona as it’s located on the fringes of the city. I stay here as it’s the hotel that I’m often allocated for my business trips, I would stay more central if I had a choice, however this hotel serves my needs well.

This hotel is a little far from the city center. Thus, it is a little difficult to walk to the city center. But it is within 10 minutes’ drive. The train station is also just 3.3km from this hotel. If you want to go to Madrid, Toledo, or other cities, it is very convenient to catch high-speed trains (called here as Renfe trains) to go there. The staff members are very friendly. The rooms are also clean.

We checked into this hotel after having a bad experience at another. The hotel is of great standard. Rooms are not exactly big but was enough for 2 people. Bathroom had a bathtub and a powerful shower. Loved it. The beds were very comfortable too. We only booked breakfast so I can't review other meals. Breakfast was great with variety and every day there was something else special. The hotel is very clean too and we had a warm welcome. Location is great with many restaurants around. We walked to almost every attraction we wanted to see because of the traffic (you could spend hours in the bus).

Hi Ian, you can get a metro, it won’t take you direct to the hotel but you can get a tram which is close to the hotel with a very short walk. Drassenes to Maria Cristina on the metro and then on ground level Maria Cristina to Frances Macia on the tram. Taxi might be easier if you have lots of luggage. Hope this helps.
