The hotel is pretty much what you see in the pictures and read about in the reviews. It is clean, modern and very contemporary. The room was slighly smaller than pictured but still very nice. The reception area is beautiful and it had the most amaming fragrance when we entered. The staff were well presented, friendly and were knowledgable of the surronding area and gave us great tips about local area and what to visit.

We didn't go to the restaurant in the hotel only because we wanted to experience authentic spainish food. But make sure you get the breakfast as it was very good, they had everything you could possibly think of and more. It was 17.50 euros each but as a general point try to book this with your flight as you will save lots. There are a number of great restaurants close by and mini supermarkets. There is a great italian a 10min walk called Gino's. There is also subway, starbucks and KFC all within a 8-10min walk! We didn't go there but it was satisfying to know it was close by.

I would suggest walking around the hotel area as we found so many convienient little shops. The chemist is next door to the hotel which was really good.

I would HIGHLY recommend going to a restarant called Tapa Tapa which is located near the magic fountain. You can catch the number 27 bus, (again close to the hotel) all the they way to the last stop which is about 10mins. Great food, service and great staff. It is open til 1am and 2am on Fridays. Super busy but you don't wait too long for a table!

The bus tours stops were very close to the hotel, both the red and blue route were available to catch, we reccommend to buy a 2day pass as there is so much to see and it is easier than catching the metro or the bus. You can buy the bus tour tickets at the hotel as they offer a discount which was very handy.

The FC football staduim was also very close by but we decided to walk as the weather was amazing and it took about 30mins.

The local shopping destination was very close to the hotel, it reminded me of a mini Oxford Street. All the designer stores, department and favourties such as Zara, H&M, accesorize.

On the last night we went to the spa and swimming pool. The pool was smaller than what is pictured but overall it was clean, calming and very modern. The steam and sauna room were nice as you would expect. Unfortunetly I was unable to get a massage as it was fully booked, so ladies make sure you book in advance! The gym was small but convienient and it is free. The swimming pool, sauna and steam rooms are 15 euros each but if you get a treatment then it is free.
They provide you with towels, robes and slippers all complimentary.

Overall it was a great experience, I would definetly go back and stay. I hope this helps for anyone going to Barcelona for the first time.

Stayed here for a work conference in the area. The hotel is quiet. We have a king superior room on the 20th floor. It's very clean. Bathroom has a stand up shower and jacuzzi bathtub. Room isn't that big, has a desk and chair. There's a separate closet area, also free wifi. There's a restaurant called the cheese bar, good food and tons of cheese! Spa area is small. Had a massage 60 min for 79€. Was very good but you can hear some outside noise. The small gym consisting of 2 treadmills 2 elliptical and a rack of free weights and then a small all in one weight machine. There's a small pool also. The area is nice some shopping and restaurants, seems safe. Short cab ride to la Rambla and other sights. Overall nice hotel, clean and accommodating.

My husband and I stayed here for three nights. Location is grand, not far from public transport links and in a quieter part of town. You do have to walk to get to things, but that is Barcelona!! We were given the option on check in, as we had a room only booking, of either upgrading to 'The Level' or getting breakfast as an add on. Now I had checked lots of places to see what this level was and couldn't find information anywhere so here is what it is. Basically, if you pay an addition €49 per night (that was for 2 of us but I am not sure if it is per room or per person), you get an upgraded room, or rather the same room on a higher floor, breakfast on all days, access to the spa area - the steam room, sauna, small swimming area and lounges, and also access to The Level lounge. In the Level lounge you can have unlimited tea/coffee, beer, and snacks like cheese, cold meets and some pastries throughout the day. You also have free access to printing facilities and the option of a free late check out. If we didn't want to do The Level upgrade, breakfast was something like €15 each per day anyway so we decided we would do it. It worked out for us. I had also booked a spa treatment, an aromatherapy massage for 75mins for €100 and got a 20% discount because we were in the level. Our room was lovely, on the 21st floor so street noise was not an issue. It was clean and very comfy bed. Only flaws would be the shower tended to leak all over the bathroom when we used it and the cleaner started vacuuming the adjoining room at 6.30am on our last day which was very annoying. Breakfast is huge with tonnes of variety. The hotel also seems to be big with conferences, so I would definitely recommend a higher floor room as the restaurant, bar and general reception area can be very loud.

I travel extensively and I regularly use Melia hotels for family reasons (my parents own some sort of time share agreement plan with them). Normally my stays as pleasant and overall good. Indeed I am not the kind of reviewer who bashes establishments for no reason buy in this case it was detail after detail that got me really dissatisfied with this hotel. A weird elevator system who got me trapped in different floors, a ridiculously located safe deposit box I literally needed to crawl to access (by the way to program the damn thing one probably needs a PhD plus two access cards to the room), a TV with half the channels off (a banner saying no signal was my best companion for days), a hydro massage bath tube that didn’t work, and an Internet service I was not able to access with my phone (when I asked reception they simply say, oh that is normal, it happens with most Iphones, but never provided me with a solution. The guy just stared at me like saying go away with your problem). To make things even worst the room next to mine got flooded, so the entrance of my room got also wet. That plus the endless chats of the crew of workers outside my door trying to fix the problem. The hotel is old, probably from then1970, but it is obvious that it was renovated recently, rooms are big and nicely decorated. Yet, this does not compensate for the plethora of little details someone should put attention to.

I booked this hotel for a 1 week stay over Christmas and the hotel lived up to its description and my expectations. I had a lovely spacious room, with a bath and shower, free internet service in my room. Even though this is described as a business hotel, I loved it and at Christmas there were lots of tourists. It has a small clean swimming pool, Jacuzzi, Sauna, Steam room with massage facilities which I used on more than one occasion (extra charge of 15 Euro for spa facilities).

The staff were pleasant and helpful, the food good, with a choice of resteraunt, bar or room service. As it was Christmas time there was a table with a huge selection of traditional Christmas sweets daily until after 'Boxing day' so it was a nice touch. Breakfast was amazing there were 5 seperate areas, they catered for European, Japanese and English tastes.

The hotel is away from the Las Ramblas area but the metro is a 15 min walk and there are buses around the corner from the hotel to take you to town (Number 59 is fab). There is a huge shopping centre 10 mins walk from the hotel. I can descibe the area like the 'Mayfair, London' equivilant of Barcelona.

As this is classified as a business hotel my only gripe was paying 5 euro for a coke, but there are lots of grocery stores close by to stock up on drinks if you don't want to order them from the hotel.
