Stayed here for a few days and I was impressed as soon as I walked in. Lovely staff and the bar and lounge area was great. I was really pleased with the layout of the rooms and the food was also good. My only disappointment was the spa! First of all, we had to pay an additional price to use the spa - I was very confused as with most hotels , you can access the spa without having to pay. This is probably why the spa wasn't too busy. The Sauna was great but I wasn't too sure about the jacuzzi and Turkish bath room. The jacuzzi looked dirty so I gave that a miss. The Turkish bath room had a big hole in the wall- not sure why this was but it made me feel uncomfortable hence why I only paid for one day of the spa facilities .
The location was ideal, not too far from the metro or shopping mall too. I would go back , perhaps not pay for additional spa facilities . Good stay.

We stay with Melia on pretty much every holiday and we chose Melia Sarria for my 30th Birthday. We stayed in the level which was very clean and we had a wonderful view of the city. The concierge was very helpful and friendly and kindly advised us of the local buses to get into the centre and beaches and it was only 2 blocks away and very easy to use. Would recommend to stay here if you need that home away from home comfort!
Only thing I would recommend is the Sarria is a "spa" hotel but all that offers is a sauna, a steam room that doesnt work and a small pool that you have to wear a shower cap in. (more for gym use than anything else)

I stayed for 3 nights for a conference which took place in the big "Barcelona A" conference room on the -1 floor in this hotel. The beamer image wasn't sharp and the entire room freezing cold because of airconditioning. We also make use of the room "Barcelona B" which was on the same level, but even colder with a cold breeze. Also there was some noise from the street above near the emergency doors which was disturbing the conference.

We had lunch in a special room with no windows and also freezing cold, so we were inside the whole day. Outside temperature was merely 25 degrees celcius, so no need to run the aircon at full speed in my view .

The staff was very friendly, the room big and clean. I ordered late dinner at the room service which cost € 4.50 extra. The Flat-TV had several channels, but no special functions like radio, alarm clock or internet (WLAN is free for 24 hours after first use). Pay Channels were annonced but not working.

There was a bathrobe but no slippers, so I have to wait 15 min after ordering to get a pair. The Spa was of low quality, the steambath stinks, the wooden bank in the sauna to sit on were grey. The Whirlpool was loud, also the jet stream. There was no relaxing music, but some water and orangejus to dring at least. Price was € 15.00 Spa only. You can arrange massage at extra prices.

The meals were of excellent quality, also was the breakfast (extra cost €23.70). There was a lot of personal staff in the breakfast room who manage to clean your table and clear up the tableware even when you were eating, which was very disturbing.

For business purpose it's ok, but for leisure I would prefer a hotel nearer to the center or the waterfront. Taxi to the airport is €25. Bus No 59 goes from the next big street (Avinguda de Joseo Tarradeltas) to La Rambla and Waterfront, but only until 21:30. To the waterfront is 60 min walking, la sagrada familia 20 min. There's a Hamam around the corner and several nightclubs in the vicinity.

I would rate it 4 stars.

We stayed here in November 2014 after moving from the Melia Sky which didn't quite meet our expectations (we understand the Sky is going through a refurb programme so don't write it off because of us). We enjoyed the Sarria so much, we booked to return for Easter 2015 and we weren't disappointed. We presented ourselves at the Level check-in area and despite arriving around midday, our room was ready for us and we were upgraded to a junior suite. Unfortunately, it smelled of smoke so we were moved but without any fuss. The rooms here are very comfortable and are consistent throughout. We only ate breakfast at the hotel but the food quality is very good and all the staff are lovely and very helpful, as they are throughout the hotel. Special thanks to the staff in the Level - Hugo and Carlos who manage the Level and also Milos, the waiter in the Level who is always smiling and who always makes everyone feel special. Try and book a Level room if you can - this gives you access to the Level lounge with drinks included between 1900-2100 and excellent food throughout the day - well worth it (although some people do take advantage which is a shame). The food is cold so sandwiches, cold meats, cheeses and so on but it's of very good quality. There's no outside pool but there is a spa with a small indoor pool, sauna and steam room which is very nice. We would happily return to the Sarria again and would have no hesitation in recommending it.

We stayed in the Melia for a long weekend in July. I chose the hotel based on its 5* rating and quieter location. It was good value when compared with other 5* hotels in the city, and we were very happy with our choice. You can walk into the centre in about 30 minutes, but you can also get a cab for 8 EUR. On top of that there are also buses that go from very near, and the hop on/off tourist buses stop very close by which was great.

The hotel itself is very nice, well decorated and clean. Service was great throughout. The room was very nice, and we had great views from the 21st floor. Breakfast was plentiful and of high quality every morning, although the breakfast area was a bit chilly - that was the only down side!

My wife used the pool/jacuzzi/sauna and said it was very nice.

Overall a very good choice for Barcelona unless you wish to be right in the heart of the action.
