My partner and I are only just back from our stay at the Melia Sarria and for a couples break, I could not recommend this hotel more. Service was friendly and the room was absolutely stunning. As a treat I upgraded to the 'romance package' following an email I received. It included the following (copied from email):

Superior city view room (king-size bed and Jacuzzi).
- Delicious strawberries with chocolate.
- A nice cold CAVA (sparkling wine).
- A romantic set for the Jacuzzi (with candles & aromatic bath salts).
- Free entrance to the Spa area

For €60 this was frankly a bargain. The room upgrade is to a junior suite with a huge bed, gorgeous views and a bathroom bigger than my living room. We spent a few hours in the spa (which is handily open until 11pm so wouldn't impede daytime tourism) and there is a Turkish bath (steam room), sauna, showers, relaxation area and a lovely small pool with jacuzzi. It's very quiet and just a nice touch. We didn't have breakfast as at €20 each a day it seemed rather steep.

The hotel is about a 15 min walk to the nearest metro and a 10 min taxi to the main train station (Barcelona Sants) which will cost approx €9. It's in a quiet area with a few cafes and restaurants nearby. I recommend the nearby Italian ( La Tagliatella) which does an excellent pizza if you'd rather eat near the hotel.

I was totally delighted with my stay at the Sarria; the staff were all very professional and helpful; the least friendly were the staff at breakfast and the staff in the spa; this was my only criticism, they had a look of annoyance when you arrived, which was more evident due to the positive welcome from reception staff, housemaids and bar staff. (Head waiter and the young lady with long brown hair, who showed you to the table were very stiff and brusque to late guests.)

My room was excellent, robes, slippers, Jack and Jill bathroom, 2 TVs on in bedroom and one in the lounge, Wifi etc. It was so spacious, I didn't know what to do with myself. It was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was amazing, providing for every type of diet and was hot and plentiful.

The spa was often not attended by staff but when they were present, they did not smile or do anything to make you feel welcome. It didn't bother me as the jacuzzi, sauna and steam room had me totally chilled by then! I would have booked some spa treatments had the staff been available. The gym is very small but has a few machines to keep you busy. The spa pool could do with some maintenance around the tiles but was a lovely experience apart from that. Clean and tranquil.

The staff in "The VIP Lounge" were great, helpful and attentive in all aspects e.g. booking taxis, giving information; free internet access, complimentary drinks and snacks available all day- how can people say this is not 5 stars?
The location is fine, just 5 mins walk from Ave Diagonal which takes you into the centre of town, where there are shop, restaurants and Gaudi!!

I'm not extravagant but guess the "unhappy guest reviewers" must have paid less for their rooms. I will definitely go back and recommend to family as we love Barcelona!

You know you’re enjoying your stay when you write a review before even checking out. We’ve been in Barcelona for two days. We arrived without booking a hotel. Last night I stayed at a different hotel, but the weather has been awful (constant rain) and I needed a hotel with an indoor pool to pass the time for myself and my teenager.

The spa is lovely. It cost €15pp for an hour, but if it’s quiet you can stay in longer. They have a large pool/jacuzzi and heated stone beds, a steam room and sauna. Children are allowed if supervised.

This hotel is really 5*. There are staff that welcome you and open the door. We arrived at midday, but they gave us a room straight away and although I only booked a basic twin, it’s on the 9th floor with a large bathroom and very clean.

All of the staff have been so friendly and laugh, so it’s not really posh, just a high standard.

The area is definitely more affluent than the hotel we stayed in last night. The road behind the hotel is like Beverly Hills. Really upmarket shops and lots of restaurants but they’re reasonably priced (€35 for 3 drunks, 2 mains and 2 sides).

It feels like a very safe area and I’d 100% stay here again.
The only negative is there’s no outside pool, but if you’re coming when it’s cool you don’t need that anyway (and there’s always the beach).

We stayed here on a family weekend away, seeing the sights of Barcelona. The hotel is very well presented as you enter and the staff were all very attentive and friendly.

The rooms are nice, with great blackout curtains and all the amenities that you would expect. Sadly, when we got to our room the floor by the door was wet and sticky... Not very pleasant, and also the safe didn't work. When we mentioned this to reception they did move us to another room. They handled this very politely, but that didn't make it any less convenient. It is quite astonishing that a cleaner did not report this, it was very noticeable. If not for this then the hotel would easily be worth a 5/5 rating.

The elevator system is intuitive but a bit confusing at first, it also caused us delays a couple of times.

The spa was a nice area, however check to see if this is included in your stay, as it's 15 euros per person, per day if not. Not sure it was really worth this much money for a tiny pool, 'Jacuzzi', sauna and steam room, but it depends on your taste.

Very conveniently located and frequent taxis driving past making it easy to get around.Close to main attractions and around a 20 minute walk from Camp Nou.

Overall a pleasant experience, shame about the initial hiccup!

I booked the hotel blind, through Last Minute´s ´Secret Hotel´ scheme for 130 pounds per night. I was initially worried, because of the reviews on here- but it turns out that people had been very unfair in their criticism.

The location is in a nice area, within walking distance of some decent bars and restaurants. Not central, but for this hotel in Las Ramblas, you would double the price per night.

It is located not that far from the central tourist areas- you can catch the bus, literally around the corner- which takes about 10 minutes to get to the centre. A taxi costs about 10 Euros. A taxi to the airport is about 25- 30 Euros. If the main reason for your trip is the FOOTBALL, then the location is perfect- 10 min walk to the NOU CAMP.

The hotel lobby is modern, and the staff were friendly and helpful. We bought their "LEVEL" service which if you apply as a member- gets a 25% discount. This entitles you to Breakfast, access to a an all day buffet area with wine, juices, cakes, cold cuts, prawns, and cheese- really great idea- means you don´t have to get up for breakfast, or go out if you only want something light to eat. This buffet is replenished all day. The SPA is compact, but well equipped. Nice steam room, sauna, and jacuzzi thermal circuit- all working perfectly, unlike one reviewer remarked.

The rooms are great. Modern, quality fittings, with a flat screen LCD screen. The BATHROOM is one of the best I´ve stayed in- quality ROCA fittings. Had a deep jacuzzi bath on the first night- superb. Has a really nice touch, of speakers from the main TV that can be switched on in the bathroom. SHOWER was powerful- but remember to slam the door sharply, as it was very easy to let water leak through. Beds were really comfortable. WI-fi excellent high speed in the room. Someone mentioned on here, that you had to keep getting a code- nonsense. As long as you log off, it is good for twelve hours of usage time- then you get a new code. Not a drama, just phone 4 and ask reception for a new code!!!

Breakfast was impressive. Quality cold cuts, cheeses, pates, cakes, fruit, or you could have a cooked breakfast. Very, very nice.

The staff were helpful and friendly throughout. I really don´t know why people have given it such bad reviews. People need to be fairer on Trip Advisor, otherwise the system fails.

My only slight criticisms, would be a lack of room service, and a lack of English speaking satellite TV channels. Very, very minor.

Fantastic weekend, in a fantastic city. Would definitely recommend the hotel; and I don´t give praise lightly.
