The Hotel Sant Gervasi, is located 5 metro stops away from down town, in the most select part of Barcelona, where Modernist houses and new buildings enjoy a happy coexistence. This neighborhood is one of the safest & quietest in town. Close by to the Hotel, and very well communicated, you have also the following sightseeing’s: Park Güell, the fantastic park designed by the architect Antoni Gaudí and the Tibidabo mountain. The hotel’s size – it has only 63 rooms – is part of its special charm, and its guests will enjoy the warm hospitality only found in such intimate establishments. The Sant Gervasi is also convenient for all transport, the historic city centre and the trade fair site at Montjuïc.

Pros:
- Very close to a metro stop (El Putxet on the L7 line, which goes to Placa Catalunya), so there's easy access to the city center without being in a touristy area
- There are a variety of cafes and restaurants in the area
- The room size is quite good for a European hotel
- The room and bathroom were fairly updated and clean, with a lovely marble sink in the bathroom
- Breakfast was great, with a variety of fresh fruit, pastries, toast, cereal, yogurt, sliced meats, and cheeses as well as cooked-to-order hot food like scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, etc.
- If you are checking out before breakfast begins, you can ask the night before for a breakfast bag. The bag isn't as great as the breakfast itself - I got an apple, banana, ham & cheese on white bread, crackers, juice, and water - but it's nice to have a snack and not worry about getting breakfast before going to the airport.
- You can print your boarding pass (or other documents) at a station off of the lobby. It wasn't working when I was there, but the reception staff printed what I needed behind the counter.
- Shampoo, shower gel, bar soap, a shoe-shine kit, and a dental kit (toothbrush and toothpaste) were provided. Lotion would be a nice addition, though.
- Self-adjustable heating / air-conditioning
- In-room safe

Cons:
- The biggest problem was noise; my room faced the street, and I could easily hear street sounds, down to people's conversations, even on the third floor with the windows closed. You could also hear hall noise quite easily, although this was not as bad at night because there was an interior door between the bedroom and front door that seemed to help. If you're a light sleeper, have to get up early, etc. you might want to request a room that doesn't face the street.
- Another big problem was the wifi; it was free but quite unreliable. It was so bad that at times I couldn't even check my email. I never tried to stream videos or anything like that; I was basically just browsing the Internet to look up times/costs for sightseeing, but it was more frustrating than using dial-up.
- The closest metro stop, El Putxet, does not have an elevator or even an escalator. Luckily, I had looked this up in advance and planned to use Padua station, which has an elevator, for coming/going with my luggage. The hotel was about a 10 min walk from Padua station. If you have trouble walking or doing steps, you may want to get a taxi or consider a different location.
- The double room has two single beds pushed together, which don't really form a double bed since they are each made up separately, so this isn't a great option for couples or those wanting a large bed.
- The room and bathroom I had were not laid out well. When sitting at the desk, the chair was up against the side of the bed. When getting out of the shower, the toilet was where one would normally step out; you had to carefully step out between the bidet and toilet, which was especially tricky since the sides of the tub were quite high.

Like this hotel very good location for buses and metro to the city centre the beach and other top attractions, park Guell 5 bus stops away or a 15 minutes walk. A fab Japanese restaurant next door food delicious, this hotel has other cafes, restaurants/bars within easy reach 5 minute walk in either direction. Staff are friendly and most speak English. Would I stay here again??? YES. The room was comfortable and clean, serviced every day. Went to Barcelona for the 1st time for my Birthday.

I stayed here as part of a Groupon Trip. The way they are able to give such affordable trips is that they don't put you up RIGHT in the middle of the action. However, this hotel is right on the bus line that takes you directly into town. Technically this hotel is in Barcelona, but in one of the quieter parts. Anyway, the desk staff is very accommodating and they all speak multiple languages. The room that I had was big and beautiful, and very clean. The best part though is definitely the breakfast. They have an amazing display of various foods, and the eggs are made to order.

Front desk service adequate for answers to direct questions. Abrupt and business demeanor. Coffee inconvenient to access first thing in the a.m. Must have clear understanding of integrated transport system to get around. Would NOT recommend driving a car. Traffic, especially cycles, is horrendous.

I've spent a week in this hotel and you'll be reading a lot of superlatives in my review. First off, the staff there understands English very well and they're maximum helpful. When asked for the map of the city, this guy even went that far that he circled famous placed and must sees. The room was great. I wasnt expecting much, since my last visit to London considering the room cost about the same, but a very nice room with separated, very spacious bathroom including bidet. In the room: free tv, free wi-fi,free safe, free room service. Nothing got stolen, we trusted the staff completely and we got room cleaned every day. What a great place. I only tried once their restaurant and it wasnt as great as expected, but this is a hotel review and the hotel is the best. The location is perfect with Putxet station just around the corner and with zero strange people around. A walk at night didn't feel dangerous at all. And it takes like a 10 minutes maximum to get to the Plaza Catalunya and at the same time you're spared of all the commotion in the city centre so overall, this is one of the reasons I enjoyed Barcelona so much.

Stayed in this hotel 21-24 June 13. Hotel has everything we needed for city break. Rooms specious, clean, bathroom clean, fresh towels everyday, comfy bed. The hotel is not in the centre or close to the beach but we knew it when we were booking it so no suprise. Realy close to the metro, then 6 minutes and you are in the city centre. Breakfast was basic but you could find something. I could not fault this hotel for anything. We had hussle and stress free stay.

We enjoyed the Silken hotel. The room was very nice and updated, loved the modern bathroom and simple furnishings. Stayed on the 4th floor and the worst part was the rather rambunctious glee club (most likely college students) who took over the floor and were pretty loud.

The neighborhood was nice and apparently kind of the ritzy part of town. Seemed like the equivalent of Chicago's Lincoln Park neighborhood with the same access to downtown. There was a convenience store directly across the street with cheap soda, wine and water so don't dare touch that mini bar!

Basic European style breakfast of assorted cold-cuts, cheeses, pastries, cereal, yogurt and fruit. You could also order a basic omelet. The bartender made all of my cafe au laits for me, he seemed to despise the idea of me using the Keurig machine, which was fine with me. Also their coffee with milk is the equivalent of the American $4 latte but for free!

The location was convenient, and if weather had been nicer, we would have walked the neighborhood more. But it was unseasonably cool and rainy so we hopped the train #7 to Las Ramblas every day/night.

About a 10 minute walk from the hotel was a stop on two different tourist bus lines. If you plan to utilize the trains and sightsee, there is some type of pass that for about $40 Euros allows you to use all of the public tran while getting free admittance to many of the museums! Wish we'd figured that out our first day instead of our last night. Also, it's almost never worth it to purchase train passes ride by ride, as you can't transfer to other lines (got a bit confusing). Go ahead and get the 10-ride that allows you to transfer between trains, buses, etc. all throughout the city.

Stayed 4 nights at this Silken, it is a modern hotel and is located very near a metro station which is only 4 stops from Las Ramblas. Rooms are adequately sized with flat screen TV, mini bar, free safe and air con. The entire hotel is very clean and modern. The restaurant is small with a limited menu but the food was excellent. We did feel sorry for the one and only waiter who has to work extremely hard to take orders, carry out the food, clean tables, serve drinks to diners plus those who are only drinking at the bar and deliver room service. The guy was dripping with sweat, running everywhere but maintained his professionalism at the same time - all this whilst the receptionist sat only metres away checking in the odd guest and playing on the computer.
The hotel is on a quiet side street but during rush hour is it used as a cut through and can get noisy if your room faces on to the road.
In summary, good value, clean, tidy and well located.

My husband and I and another couple arrived in Barcelona on a Thursday evening after a long flight and we were going to catch a cruise on Saturday afternoon. We wanted a hotel away from the La Rambla area, in a quieter area where we could sleep. The St. Gervasi was just what we needed. It was quiet, clean, very close to the subway stop, El Putxet, which takes you right down to the La Rambla area and it had a good selection of foods for breakfast, although it was not included in your room rate. I think the breakfast was 8 Euros, if I remember. There was no coffeepot in the room, but that may be normal for 2-3 star hotels in Europe. The bed was good, the staff were very helpful and spoke English well. We stayed there only two nights, but would return if in Barcelona again. One note not concerning the hotel: the subway system is extensive in Barcelona and will get you to the tourist destinations, but it can be confusing to use at first.
If you stay in this hotel and take the El Putxet station to go to Catalunya station (where La Rambla begins), beware that the train goes to Pl Molina station where you have to get off and cross over the lines by a stair bridge to get on a different line or you'll end up going back to the El Putxet station. If you're staying longer than we did, you'll figure it out quickly. All in all, good hotel.

Hello madam, If you take a Metro (ferrocarrils), the line 7, from "El Putxet" (near to the hotel) to "Plaza Cataluña" it will take 12 minutes. By car it's 15 more or less. Kind regards, Lara from reception.

There is a good coffee shop and small bakery around the corner. The metro line is 1 block away. It was 2 Euros for a round trip to Placa de Catalunya.

As previously stated by other reviewers, the metro is very close by and only a few stops away from many sites. The hotel staff was very helpful with directions. The metro was easy to navigate and very clean. Enjoy!
