The Hotel Sant Gervasi, is located 5 metro stops away from down town, in the most select part of Barcelona, where Modernist houses and new buildings enjoy a happy coexistence. This neighborhood is one of the safest & quietest in town. Close by to the Hotel, and very well communicated, you have also the following sightseeing’s: Park Güell, the fantastic park designed by the architect Antoni Gaudí and the Tibidabo mountain. The hotel’s size – it has only 63 rooms – is part of its special charm, and its guests will enjoy the warm hospitality only found in such intimate establishments. The Sant Gervasi is also convenient for all transport, the historic city centre and the trade fair site at Montjuïc.

The wifi didn't extend to the room - supposed to be a "free" service but the signal was really bad. I was there for work and needed to get online so raised the lack of any connection at the desk but the staff didn't care, oh and the breakfast is a bit rip-off rubbish

This is a very nice hotel! The staff are very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was really nice and you could ask for cooked option alongside the other breakfast buffet. The rooms are small but we found them fine for us with a nice bathroom and powerful shower! The much needed air con worked really well in the rooms and when you walked into the hotel lobby the air con was lovely!!
The food in the restaurant and room service was really good and good size portions.
The area was quiet but had really helpful shop across the road and supermarkets not far away. The nearest metro, El Puxet was a few mins walk and very easy to get to Placa Catalunya (5th stop) which is the central point and where Las Ramblas begins. After walking Las Ramblas several times, we decided to get the metro to the end to save our legs. Change at Catalunya and head for Drassanes (2 stops) which is at the end of Las Ramblas where the beautiful harbour is. The metro's T10 ticket was really good. There were 4 of us so we bought a couple of the tickets at a time as you can share them. We did get lost a couple of times and made an exit where we shouldn't have, so our ticket got stamped, however it is still a really good value ticket to get and can be used on buses and other modes of transport.
Other places we went to...Park Guell, 20-30 mins walk from hotel and very beautiful. The Aquarium was really lovely and I had printed off some vouchers before we left which gave us 2 euros off each per person (Price for 4 persons, 72 euros with discount). The beach was lovely, crowded, but the walk to it was really beautiful. We did go to the Sagrada Familia but the queue was 4-5 hours so just took pictures outside it. If you want to go from the hotel by Metro, go to Provenca (4th stop), change line and its 2 stops to Sagrada Familia. My husband and Son went to Noucamp which they really enjoyed. It was 23 euros each to get in.
The Maremagnum shopping mall over the bridge at the harbour was great and there is a 'all you can eat' buffet which was great for my hungry teens! It is called Freshco and it is 12.95 euros each and drinks included! Another tip is if you go to the Dept store El Cortes Ingles in Place Catalunya and go to the 9th floor where the restaurant is, you get fantastic views where you can take pictures!! This was a really great holiday and this hotel was a really great place to stay and we will definitely go back there because of the location and the staff who were all lovely and helpful!!!

Clean, smart hotel. Comfortable rooms which are provided with a free safe - you don't want to be walking around Barcelona with too much money or valuables! Very good breakfast buffet with a good choice of food which was kept well replenished plus cooked option (to order) included in cost. We opted for a B&B package which was a good decision. Coffee is also good, served from machines which grind it from the beans -full marks for that one! As other reviewers have said, it's very convenient for the town using the Metro from the nearby El Putxet station. Buy a t10 card from the machine which gives you 10 journeys for around 10 euros - you can share the same card with other travellers.
It's in a quieter residential area of town so bars and restaurants are a little bit limited (see my other review for restaurant Verona). Only real downsides we found to this hotel are; the lack of tea and coffee facilities in the room (the small bar in the dining area closes at 11pm) and the lack of any lounge area to relax in - just a few very hard chairs in the reception area. However, these are minor points and overall this hotel is good value for money.

To get here hassle free from Barcelona airport, take the Aerobus directly outside the terminal and get off at the last stop in Pl. Catalunya. Walk a few hundred yards to the Catalunya Metro station the other side of the square (it's at the top of La Ramblas) and take line L7 (Tibidabo) 5 stops to El Putxet. When you exit the Metro, walk down the side of the supermarket building (it's the building sort of raised up off the ground) and the small market square then turn left down the hill, the hotel is a few hundered yards down the street. Be careful if you come out of the other Metro exit accross the main road from the supermarket - that's where we went wrong!!

So lucky to have chosen this hotel! The staff is genuinely helpful and accommodating. Internet didn't work well for us and our room was changed to the ground floor where we had a lovely bright room #006 with a patio. Which was perfect for having snacks and a bottle of wine with the friends who accompanied us. (Wine at the market across the street from the hotel is terrifically cheap and surprisingly good)

When you check in you'll have separate internet access for each device, the desk will print this (save that) you'll relog every time; just make sure to retype the password even if its saved in your browser.

We took the airport shuttle down a floor from customs to Placa Catalunya, from there take the L7 subway to El Puxtet. Cross the street and left a little to a set of stairs down into a well lit alleyway if you come after dark and at the end to your right is the hotel.

The continental breakfast served by the hotel is comprehensive, delicious and the price is predicatable 15 Euros, not too much for the quality! The buffet style meal has a variety of dried meats and cheeses, fruits, boiled egg, breads and a toaster...plenty of jams too. The coffee machine is out of this world to someone who only knew Starbucks before the trip.

The room itself is European simple elegance, nothing fancy but Comfortable. The mattress was firm, plenty of pillows and covers. We turned off the heat in June and left the door open to air it out while we took the hop on and off tours.

We would stay here again with no hesitation. Our stay in Barcelona in this hotel gave us a view of Catalan life that we would never have experienced staying closer to the city center. We learned firsthand about the subway system, those maps are helpful but don't be afraid to ask questions. In our experience we did not run into many English speakers in this neighborhood but it was no problem communicating. Leave your attitude at home and Prepare to Relax here!

We are very glad to know that you had such an amazing experience. Yes, the great thing about being in this cozy neighbourhood is that you are able to see the true catalan life but without being far away from the city center. We thank you for taking the time to write down your opinion and really appreciate your comment. We hope to see you again!

We stayed at Silken Sant Gervasi in Barcelona because we had a meeting the following day in the same street and moreover we needed a garage.
The entrance is quite welcoming. The garage is cramped, but that's often the case in city hotels.
The room and the bathroom are large, with TV set and minibar. The bed is good. Just one sink in such a large bathroom for a double room is a shame. The hotel shows some wear: some fixtures and tiles were broken in the bathroom, the wall to wall carpet in the corridor has stains.
The street in front of the hotel is quite busy, even at night, and the window is not up to the task. The rooms directly on the street should have a second window (on the outside?) to block the traffic noise.
Wifi is free but you cannot access your email on just any program, you need to use a browser.
The staff is helpful enough but they lack sympathy and motivation; probably a symptom of poor management.

We were initially thinking about the location as it was a bit away from plaza cataluniya however we got used to the area.It quiet and convienitly located .2-3 mins away from the El putxet metro station. You can take the aero bus form the airport for 6euros get off at plaza cataluniya and take metro L6 .which will cost only 2 euros. However the cab rate from plaza catalunia to the hotel is around 8-11 euros depending on the traffic.Clean rooms, free wifi ,staff were friendly and helpful.
There is a small supermarket right infront of the hotel. If you buy the group ticket for 9 euros there are 10 tickets in one two people can still use it travel within zone 1.
We found a nice tapas bar Tapazee in Plaza Cataluniya,it was quite cheap compared to other tapas bars and good food .Safe Hotel
Overall we had a good stay in Barcelona

I went to Barcelona with my friend for 3 days for quick tourism, and we chose Silken St. Gervasi (which refers to the name of the area) from the many positive reviews we read in here, so I thought I should add my voice to the masses.

The hotel is super clean, neat and comfortable, the staff is very professional and ready to serve you at any hour. However, I think what made this hotel super special to us is its location; it is located in one of the best neighborhoods of Barcelona in terms of security and quality of life.
Just across the hotel there's a small shop where you can find everything you need drinks, bread, chips, chocolate..etc, but if you like bigger markets, well 2 mins walk up north you can find a big market (right next to the metro station) and even some clothing shops which you might like to see if you have some time.

That market is just next to the metro station which is also 2 mins away, and is generally about 10 - 20 mins far from almost everything you might interesting in seeing in Barcelona.

P.S. they also provide with free Wifi in your room during your stay, you just need to call the reception to give you the code

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights at the end of Feb (which is a great time to go - not too many tourists!). We were on the second floor and the room size was reasonable. Small gripes with the double bed actually being 2 singles and with the single duvets tucked into each bed - so not too couple friendly there. Whilst we're at the negatives, another thing is that the air conditioning, we're told, is switched off for the autumn/winter months. It's completely inoperable until spring and we found our room very stuffy at first. Nothing that a slightly ajar window didn't fix. The streets are not too noisy at all and it's a very quiet residential area, so it was fine to sleep with a slightly open window.

Apart from those small things, it was overall a very enjoyable stay. The location is brilliant - very safe and literally 1-2 minute walk to the station (El Puxtet on L7 underground line). If you come from the airport, the T10 ticket (similar to a carnet, it's a ticket with 10 journeys on it) works fine - you can get from the airport to the hotel in one journey (even if you change trains, the T10 only deducts once per passenger). Multiple passengers can use it (just need to feed it into the machine for each passenger to go through the gate) and costs just under 9 Euros. Incidentally, there are multiple companies that operate the underground system in Barcelona and if you swap between the companies (e.g. going from L3 to L7), then you need to use 2 separate single tickets. However, the T10 allows you to use the all the metro lines and interchange as much as you need without charging more than that one journey - so remarkable value really.

If you need to return El Puxtet area from the city late at night after the trains have stopped, the N5 bus takes you from some of the main streets in the city (e.g. from Catalunya) straight up past Pl Molina, Padua and then there's a stop just before a cross-road (you'll have to look at the map/ask the driver) - and this stop is 3 minutes from the hotel. So, again, very accessible.

Back to the hotel itself - there is also free wireless internet - good speeds in our rooms. There is a small supermarket near the El Puxtet station, which also has a few market stalls in that same building. If you need something small, directly opposite the hotel is a convenience store.

Would recommend to friends and stay here again - 4.5 stars.

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights in the beginning of August 2004, because we got a good internet rate.

I would describe the room as being a standard hotel room - it was nice, had all the facilities/inclusions that you would expect at a 4 star hotel, was of a good size, and was very clean and comfortable - but it was nothing special.

The metro stop is just around the corner and only a few stops away from attractions and action. It's very easy to get around.

There was a complete lack of places to eat around the hotel, or anything open, for that matter - so be prepared to go further afield for your meals.

We stayed as this great little hotel on a 4 day visit to Barcelona.

The rooms were comfortable and clean. The Wi-Fi was free and unlike some Hotels I have stayed at worked at a decent speed.

The Hotel is within a 40 minute walk of La Rambla and is close to the excellent Barcelona Metro. There are plenty of local eateries.

The staff were all very friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay there again.

The only comments, no kettle but not a major issue and it would have been nice to have an English TV channel.

Hello madam, If you take a Metro (ferrocarrils), the line 7, from "El Putxet" (near to the hotel) to "Plaza Cataluña" it will take 12 minutes. By car it's 15 more or less. Kind regards, Lara from reception.

There is a good coffee shop and small bakery around the corner. The metro line is 1 block away. It was 2 Euros for a round trip to Placa de Catalunya.
