The Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity Hotels offers a tranquil atmosphere, set in a scenic mountain location that guests find inspiring, though some note it's a bit remote from Main Street. While the minimalist rooms are celebrated for their views and cleanliness, comfort is a concern due to issues like ineffective temperature control. Amenities like on-site laundry and recreation facilities are appreciated, but some travelers have faced inconvenience with power outlets. Service quality varies, with reports of both friendly staff and unresponsive service. Opinions on value are mixed, influenced by these experiences.

Stayed here as part of a walking group holiday. The hotel is situated in the complex of buildings that make up the spacious and wooded campus of the Centre for Arts and Creativity. It lies just on the outskirts of the town centre which can be reached in a 15 minute walk. There are a couple of footpaths and one is lit in the evening.

The hotel room was comfortable, we had room 127 which was on the same floor as reception. The staff were friendly and helpful. Next to the reception is a lounge area. Breakfast is taken in the Vistas restaurant which is on the top floor of an adjacent building.

Certainly recommend if staying in Banff.

I came as part of the playwrights retreat 2022. I had an amazing experience! The center is beautiful, was incredible views of the mountains surrounding it. Everything you need it was readily available, the laundry room in the basement of the hotel, the fitness center, walking trails, hiking trails, and the town very nearby. We're also amazing facilities, fuse and I'll was lucky enough to have the cardinal studio to work in which was beautiful. The whole experience was incredibly inspiring. A special shout out to Brett at the front desk, Veronique, Miami, and the red haired bartender, as well as the whole team on the breakfast shift at Fasthorse. All they're incredibly helpful friendly and went out of their way to ensure we had a wonderful experience.

What an absolute gem of a hotel. Stunning views, comfortable beds, and a cute little breakfast place. Also have a free EV charger on site so parking was great. The staff were friendly and each room had different art in it from people who have stayed there. It was really something special.

I hesitated between a 2 or a 3 rating as our stay was OK overall but given the premium price I feel the 2 is fair. Stayed in Lloyd Hall. The rooms themselves are reasonably nice, spacious and clean, but temperature control can be an issue. Our room was consistently around 24 celsius despite the thermostat set to 15 (off, basically) and the window being open (hovering around 10C outside). The front desk was helpful and moved us to another room which was more comfortable. It seems there is an old hydronic heating system in place and retained when the building was renovated which can cause uneven distribution of heat if your room is too close to the supply lines. For visitors during warmer times, note that there is no AC but rooms come with a fan. Be aware that rooms are extremely dry, but this is not the hotel's fault, it's just the area/elevation. It would be nice if humidifiers were included in each room as my other hotels during this trip did. Views in our 2 rooms were not great, and the first room on the lower level was also near a place where trucks insisted on backing up (beep beep) for prolonged periods each morning. Soundproofing wasn't great in general but other guests nearby were quiet so this was fine.
As other reviewers have mentioned, there are laundry machines on site but note that the change machine doesn't work and the washers cost $2 but don't take twoonies, so make sure you have a healthy supply of quarters or $1 coins. The dryers did not work, at all. I tried multiple machines (cleaned their lint filters) and $5 worth of dryer loads and my clothes were cold and wet regardless. The exhaust lines were haphazardly run (literally folding on themselves for a full length of tubing even though the other end of the connection is inches away) and are almost certainly completely clogged. I was thankfully able to get a bunch of hangers from front desk and use the provided fan in the room to dry off the clothes before checkout. I wasn't going to make a fuss over $5 but it would have been nice if it was acknowledged when checking out.

Stayed here for the conference from July 2-5. The location atop a mountain is beautiful but also requires travel up and down the mountain to access the Main Street. The rooms in Lloyd hall are glorified dormitory accommodations with mattresses that are too firm and that sag in the middle. The blinds also lack coverage so light penetration happens late into the evening and early in the am, not conducive for light-sensitive sleepers. The modern design of the rooms leave function lacking, with a narrow desk area and a bathroom that does not contain water or heat while showering due to a missing shower door (look over function). Breakfast and lunch was tasty but it was obvious that leftovers from the day before were the inspiration for next-day dishes, some fruit had mold and there was no milk available on one of the mornings. Price was reasonable but function was lacking.

I was here for a conference and it was the perfect venue. Great cafeteria style dining room with lots of delicious options. The conference rooms all had spectacular views of the mountains that made me feel so happy. My bedroom in Lloyd Hall made me feel like I was in Sweden. Super impressed.

The unmatched gorgeous mountain setting and walkable paths (except when iced over) made for a fine experience and a successful conference event. While I understand the need to make ends meet and keep up the facility, the food was high quality, albeit pretty expensive. Food prices were similar to what you might pay at a resort, but the neat rooms with views made up for it. The staff was friendly and well-trained. Special cudos to the swimming pool keepers for an excellent job. I would recommend this place for anyone longing for a mountain getaway with good meeting facilities.

We had a lovely time during our stay, and were treated exceptionally well. Our room was on the sixth floor of Lloyd Hall and facing West - highly recommend requesting a room up high and facing West as the view is stunning. We ate at the Maclab Bistro, Tuna Poke was delicious!

Just 10mins walk from downtown, Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity was a great place to stay at with excellent food, and a lovely room with all the amenities you need, including a coffee maker. The rooms have a minimalist design with mostly wood furniture that inspires creativity and tranquility, and a big window to see the view outside. I was facing the slope, but I can imagine the other side would have some spectacular mountain views that you can see throughout the centre campus. Wonderful facilities as well for a conference, and enjoyed seeing some elks around munching away!

Friendly and knowledgeable staff will greet you when you first arrive at the Banff Centre for the Arts and Creativity. Nestles among the Rockies within walking distance to downtown, it is the best of both worlds. Beautifully designed rooms, an art gallery and buildings interspersed with art along with the beautiful setting it is sure to inspire you and give you the perspective you need. Delicious food that meets most dietary restrictions are available. I would return to this place in a heart beat!
