The very remarkable thing in this hotel were the beds... very comfy. My bf and I slept like babies and woke up so fresh. The double room was big, clean and cosy. We enjoyed our Christmas stay in there. It was a good deal via booking. If you have a car, no need to pay so much for the parking just look around you might find a place.

Positives: Hotel is pretty close to a sub stop as it is a short walk down the street...up some stairs and than another short walk. 5 minute walk at most though if you have problems with steps it might take a bit longer to get around. Hotel was pretty cheap since it is outside the heavy tourist areas and a great value and still a short walk to the transportation to get into town. Negatives: Absolute nightmare to park if you have a car. Tiny protected lot underground that had the tighest turn I've ever seen to get down and we've driven all throughout Europe many times over the years. Took us awhile to get in and out so I'd suggest either not taking a car or parking it than using transportation (which is what I suggest for all big European cities anyway). The parking was pretty expensive as well. In addition, no free breakfast at all and the Internet was really expensive.

That all being said, for the price...if you don't mind taking public transport into the city...this is a solid choice for your Barcelona home base.

We stayed 2 nights in St. Gervasi for 113 Euros/night breakfast and parking included. Apart from the afield location the room was very spacious and clean. The breakfast buffet included everything as expected on an international breakfast buffet.
The staff was very friendly and helpful except of an female receptionist, who couldn´t tell us where to buy international newspaper.

We spent four nights here with a groupon offer, the hotel was clean and the staff were really helpful, not all of them spoke English but we got by. We paid extra for breakfast, which was good, typical continental style loads of hams and cheeses and you could order hot food such as scrambled eggs. The location was further away from the main sights but with a hire car it wasn't really an issue. The only warning I could give is the onsite parking, we hired an Audi Q2 not the biggest car by any means but because the parking is under the hotel it was so tight to get in and out of, I wouldn't recommend parking here with a bigger car or SUV.

The area is very peaceful so that your sleep won't be disturbed by the late-night revellers crowding the centre of Barcelona.
The hotel is a 20 minute walk from the famous blue tram station (at the foot of Tibidabo Montain).
The metro station is just round the corner. The station's name is El Putxet (the Catalans pronounce it El Puchet) and is on the brown line L7.
From it you can reach Plaça de Catalunya in a few minutes.
We discovered by chance (the hotel staff didn't say a word about it and asked 17 € per night for parking in their garage) that in August parking is free of charge there and in many other areas outside the centre of Barcelona (just check the yellow notice AVISO IMPORTANTE stuck to the parking meters).
The breakfast in the hotel costs 14 € but just round the corner there's a bar where you can have breakfast for about 5 €.
