Good and discreet place to stay. The team was efficient and effective. The location is accessible. The installations are comfortable. Only that the room with terrace doesn't have a shadow area to stay when the sun is shining very high which not allow you to enjoy the terrace and the settings of the air-conditioning of the room that I did not understand how it works because it doesn't give fresh air

SCAM! I booked the hotel from booking.com at a good price two months in advance. A few weeks before the trip, I received an email saying my credit card numbers were “incorrect”. Which is not true. Because the bank account statement shows that they were able to make a transaction from my account. My bank also confirmed that everything works correctly. The only offer from Hotel was a new, more expensive booking. Also booking.com said they can't do anything. I do not recommend Catalonia Barcelona 505 Hotel to anyone. You will get a few sleepless nights before the trip.

We have spent a weekend in Barcelona and everything went well.

We had a very good stay at this hotel. Price, early check-in and check-out (9am) were great. I highly recommend this place.

Note: It is 4 km from Barcelona city center

This is a great luxury hotel. The rooms are huge compared to other Spanish hotels, and all rooms have a large chair to sit in. The room contained a minibar, but there was room for a waterbottle or two. The bathrooms were the best part. There was a glass-doored shower and a whirlpool jet bath for your use. The shower, however, overflows after a certain amount of time. The bathtub was relaxing after a long walk in Barcelona. The food was very good, including the breakfast buffet in the morning. There is an oven in the restaurant area that allows the eaters to watch and smell the rolls baking. The one thing that keeps this hotel from being 5 star is the service. Don't put out the do not disturb sign, they don't even care, they will still clean the room. The people at the front desk are very rude to you if you have a problem at the hotel. Also, the hotel has internet access, but it's an absurd price. 2 euros for 10 minutes. Overall a great experience.

This is the first time I am held as a hostage in a hotel.
We were there as a football team participating in Barcelona Cup and I am one of the coaches. We stayed there 7 days. On the 4th day a wardrobe door fell from the wardrobe (a sliding piece of glass with a frame is the door) and hit one of the kids on the head. Thank god the boy was not hurt badly. The door ,as it was only glass, was teared into pieces. The bellboy came to the room after we were notified and we noticed that the wheel on the bottom of the door was faulty so as the door slided it went off the rail and fell down. The bellboy then apologised and gave instructions to the reception to change the room, something that didn't happen as the hotel was fully booked. The boys parents wanted to sue the hotel after this incident, but since they apologised we convinced them not to proceed.
On our check out day (after three days) we asked for a room for our luggage and were given one ,as we had to check out at 11 o clock but the bus would come on 4 o clock in the afternoon.
At 3 o clock the " joke of a manager" of the hotel came with an invoice of €215 as the cost for the broken door and demanded to pay!!! For three days we were told nothing, and one hour before leaving the hotel with our luggages locked in a room we had to pay to go!!!
After we refused to pay, as we explained the situation and that the hotel should apologise and that somebody could have been hurt badly from this incident, the "joke of a manager" of the hotel insisted that the door was broken from the boys. Actually the boys that was hurt parents got furious and the "joke of a manager" called the police who arrived without uniforms (4 of them) but with guns on their waist. In some stage the "joke of a manager" asked us to pay half the price to end the argumet (how cheap can this be as he insisted that the cost was €215). When the police arrived they were just looking and not intervening, and then we asked them if they were the police and if they were on duty. They replied yes to both questions. Then we asked them why they were there and replied that they came for coffee!!! Therefore we told them that the "joke of a manager" would not give us our luggage to go and we were held hostages and asked them to take action. One of them showed his gun and told us "pay". The bus was already waiting for 20 minutes and we could lose our flight. 64 people left on the decision of the so-called manager and the so-called police if they were to leave us go to the airport.
The most ridiculous part of the story is that we had 34 rooms booked for 7 nights and the least a chain of hotels like Catalonia Hotels is to be able to cover a minor damage even if it was made from the guests which in our case was a faulty door with a danger of a really bad accident.
What happened then is that we paid the €215 because we would lose the flight.
We reported the incident in the police at the airport and will proceed with legal actions from our country against this "joke of a manager" and the "joke of policemen" whom we have their faces in camera and also Catalonia Hotels.
Also we will report the " joke of a manager" to the higher hierarchy of the Catalonia Hotels Chain as he is a disgrace to their brand.

Now apart from the above incident.
-Location far away from centre
-Bar without bartender most of the time and some times they wouldn't have change and therefore would not give any drinks unless you didn't want change.
-Restaurant service a total disaster. Could wait for more than 20 minutes to replenish dishes in buffet and also plates. The same with breakfast as to replenish cheese or ham could take ages. Food though was tasty.
-Reception friendly and helpfull and could speak english.
-Manager a total joke!!!!

Dear Customer, As I comment on your stay at our hotel was a pleasure for us have the teams of your football academy housed with us. During your stay you and your team congratulate the hotel staff and myself at the hotel, its services and facilities. You gave congratulations for the food, the attention of the reception and cleaning. However, it seems that all this changed when we inform you that you would have to pay for damage caused by some players in one room. You said we're going to regret collect damages. I guess you were referring to this. Thank you very much

My daughter and I stayed at the hotel Catalonia steps away from the main square around the old cathedral and Medieval ramparts of Barcelona. Words cannot express our love for this city and this hotel. I have travelled extensively in Europe and your hotel in the cities are sometimes iffy in cleanliness or location or security. We were worried about staying in the inner city due to the reports of theft, and pick pockets and other crime. We had zero problems! Every morning we awoke to another beautiful blue sky and view of a corner of the square. For breakfast we indulged in a large croissant and cafe con leche in the cafe facing the cathedral! Breathtaking. The hotel was quiet clean and safe. It is conveniently located in the middle of a fantastic pedestrian shopping district and next door to the tourist bureau. Everything is in walking distance or by train or subway which is around the corner. We did not have a chance to enjoy the roof top pool as the weather was cool, nor did we eat at the hotel but the menus as well as the offering and atmosphere were enticing! The staff were friendly and helpful. Price was very decent for such a clean, Central European hotel. Rooms were small but very modern and comfortable. Do not hesitate to stay here! I can't wait to go back next year, God willing!!

For the first time, me and my family (the father, mother, two teens, and one kid) went to Europe. It was an excellent trip, we decided to go to Barcelona and got an excellent deal for this hotel as "Catalonia Suite Hotel", but apparently, it's name has changed recently to "Catalonia Barcelona 505".
The reception were nice and talked very good English, the rooms were very big and clean, breakfast wasn't Catalan or Spanish, but international, fresh and yummy, and the metro station was a five minute walk.
The hotel is really good and it's near a super market which we bough bread and cheese from it and made sandwiches for dinner.
We took the Barcelona Bus Turistic ( http://www.barcelonabusturistic.cat ) and it was a very good decision, we walked about 20 min.s to the nearest tourist bus station and went to see the best of Barcelona including Sagrada Familia, Montjuic area, Tibidabo, and the Barcelonetta area while we took the metro to Placa Espanya at night (magic fountain show) and Placa Catalunya and we walked about an hour to Parc Guell.
I really enjoyed my trip and sleep quality was the best.

All in all this is a great hotel. It is incredibly clean and the rooms are huge with the whirlpool jet bath and separate shower room being top quality. The front desk staff were able to sort out my complicated booking without any problems, although when the air con failed in the room the language barrier seemed to prevent them understanding the problem. Breakfasts are excellent, but if you get the chance check out the "Toscana" diner across the road. There's also a handy corner shop on route to the train station (5 mins walk away) for any small essentials you need.

We had stayed at Barcelona Catalonia 505 for 5 nights during December2018. Here are my observations based on the stay:

Location:
The hotel is very well connected to most sites. The metro bus stop is about 2 mins walk and metro train station El Putxet is about 5 mins walk. Most sites can be reached within 15-30 mins depending on how you choose to travel. There are also a range of shops nearby (pharmacy, coffee shops, bakery, corner shops, etc) which was very handy.

Rooms:
We stayed at the Family room (2 Adults and 2 kids). The room was spacious with 2 single beds joined up and a bunk. The facilities were dated, with the bathrooms showing signs of age, and need for uplift (e.g. we could see stain marks on the bath tub). There was a kettle provided as part of the room, but we were told that tea bags will incur an additional charge. Please do check on the specifics on the facilities prior to booking or travel (we booked through Booking.com and felt that the details could have been highlighted better).

Restaurant:
We prefer breakfast at the hotel, and had opted the same during our stay. They have the restaurant at the basement, which is clean and spacious. However, the range and quality of food was average. During our stay we did not see many people opting for breakfast at the hotel. Would not recommend food at the hotel, as there are decent alternatives nearby, especially for breakfast.

Staff:
The staff were fairly competent in English and were helpful. In our experience, they would respond to questions or point you in the right direction. We did not find all the staff members proactive at solving the problem or inquisitive enough to understand the situation (my guess probably was the limitations with English).

Overall:
We did our booking via Booking.com, where the hotel was listed as a 4 star facility, with a pool, restaurant, etc. During our stay the pool was closed. Generally, it did not come across as a 4 star hotel based on the standard of the facilities. It is very well connected to most sites, which is a definite plus. As long as you book with the right expectations (don’t expect a 4 star hotel), it is not a bad place to stay.

Thank you very much Biju N for all the time you spent writting your experience. It is gourgeous! Refering to the pool, this is a service opened in summer, due to the weather. We will check if in the booking.com website is well informed. The kettles or Nespresso facilities are only included in the superior or Junior Suite rooms. We take note about all your suggestions. Hope to welcome you very soon, best regards.

I had booked the nearby sister holel at Passeig de Gracia, but they bumped me round to this one. Lovely. 5 star feel, at a slightly more affordable price. I did room only, but the breakfast looked great. Room was huge, clean and city chic. The location is perfect for exploring Barcelona and nipping back to drop stuff off. Handy for both the airport bus and trains, if taxis aren't your style. The (many) staff on reception and around the place were really good. I didn't use the pool, but it didn't look all that special.

Bring the universal adapter. We got ours from Amazon. While there use their blow dryer. I automatically used mine which was too powerful for their circuits. Blew it up. Very very accommodating front desk. Will supply just about anything you need. Off topic but the little bakery on the corner is perfect for breakfast
