There are at least a couple of Catalonia Hotels in Barcelona. This review is about the one on Calle Muntaner.

We found this hotel on Barcelona30.com and decided to book it to save some money even though it was not in Eixample, the area where we wanted to stay. I guess it is a little cheaper because it is not in a prime location. We were surprised that our room was very large and the bathroom had both a tub and a separate shower. There was a drainage problem with the shower but it was taken care of right away. The staff was courteous and helpful. Most guests we encountered were American or British.

The hotel is located in an upscale residential neighborhood that reminded me a bit of Beverly Hills. It's a lot quieter than being near the hustle and bustle of central Barcelona, but it took only 4 or 5 metro stops to get to Catalunya. The El Puxtet stop is a few blocks away. On a couple of occasions, we needed to get to the hotel from Eixample or Old Town after the metro closed for the night and the cab ride cost roughly 10 euros.

There is a very good café (Toscana Café) kitty corner from the hotel. We went there every day for brunch and coffee before heading to the metro because prices were reasonable and the food was very good. We didn't try the hotel restaurant which had a breakfast buffet that didn't look so great.

Location is not the greatest. Hotel is really dated! Lift was broken on floor 2, as you can imagine how inconvenient that was with a small child, pushchair etc.wasn't worth the price at all. Also parking IS NOT onsite or NEARBY, it was like 3 long roads away and cost €20. I wouldn't visit again to be completely honest!

Very outdated ! Needs maintenance, the bathroom was ugly and borderline disgusting. The hallway smell terrible. This hotel needs a deep cleaning overall.
It’s far from downtown !!!! You will spend a lots of money on taxi trying to get to the main attractions. Staff wasn’t friendly at all BUT the restaurant is great, excellent food and good service. I will not stay here again. Not worth it !

Ended up here overbooked from another hotel, so we have grabbed ourselves a bargain.

The room and the bathroom were absolutely huge, plenty of storage space also.
The rooftop space is small, but that makes it even better as it feels more intimate and private. Definitely great for travelling adults, not so much for families.
The location is not that central, but it’s well connected and the staff are happy to advise best ways to get around.

Extra shoutout to the room service staff, brining our coffee every morning. Thank you for being so courteous. :)

Stayed for 3 nights in May, Front counter people are friendly and helpful, located 10 mins walk to L7 line Metro which will take you down to Catalunya Pl where all the action and shopping are. Due to it is end station so you won't get lost for returning back to hotel. Room is big and bathroom has both shower and tub. convenient for 2 person to use at same time. Surrounding has 2 nice pastry shop and a number of cafe, also a grocery store by the Metro. The only thing to pick on is the shower floor in my room use small tiles which is very uneven and feels dirty.

Hotel is located close to public transport, not so far away from city centre. It is quite close to Park Guell and Putxet park. In area there are few restaurants, but they are closed around 10 pm. Room service is provided every day. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Window view was sad, cause all we could see was a wall of another building.Stuff is super nice and helpfull. Breakfast is really good and varied. Swimming pool is small but has breathtaking view of city panorama. Originally we booked another hotel from this chain but there were some problems with booking system and we were offered cava and taxi to catalonia barcelona 505 hotel. Apart from this confiusion everything was fine.

We booked this hotel for a 5 night stay, upon arriving we were told we could not stay at the hotel for that night as they had allowed someone else to stay in our reserved room. We were then sent to a sister hotel, about 15 minutes away, which is arguably a 4* hotel but in reality it was only a 2/3* hotel. There was around, having researched the hotels, a £30 difference in prices per night between the replacement hotel and 505. Thus having to pay the same price for a worse hotel for the first night is incredibly bad. Upon there being space at the 505 for our second night, we were given a twin bedroom but we booked a double bedroom. We were then told we could change rooms to a double bed the next night.
My biggest issue is the constant disruption to my holiday, having to unpack, repack, move hotels then unpack and repack again to a different room. This is not only disruptive but incredibly time consuming, wasting hours of my holiday.

Furthermore, not once did the staff at the 505 apologise for the inconvenience this caused at any given point, poor customer service.

The rooms are ok, bathroom is slightly outdated. The pool was nice too but very cold.
Overall, there is very little positive points to my stay. Expensive and not worth it. The doors are very thin, when in bed i could hear entire conversations from fellow guests in the corridors.
Wouldn't recommend.

I'm at this hotel right now. It's the middle of the night. This is my 5th night here and it was really good until yesterday, when a coach full of idiots turned up. They party and fight in the hallways all night long, and so far the hotel staff have shown no interest in making them shut up! When I complained, nothing was done. I've heard several other customers asking the party to keep it down, many with sleeping children. But still it continues.
It's a real pity because I'd have written a good review otherwise. I like the location, my room is clean and tidy, and I've had no trouble with the wifi. I haven't eaten here but the good always smells pretty good!
My only other comment is that we were promised when we booked that large valuable items that didn't fit in the safe could be stored downstairs. It even says this on some of the paperwork in our room! Yet when we asked for this service we were refused and told it isn't possible!

Even though the previous reviews were rather mixed and questionable, I booked this hotel for my husband for two weeks. Since it was very close to the office he had to work at, I decided to give it a try nevertheless. Surprisingly enough it turned out to be the perfect decision. The room was very clean, spacious and absolutely quiet. The employess were nice and helpful. Especially Deborah, whose English was very good, was super friendly and of great help!

Apart from the fact that should not have been consindered as a 4 star, but rather a 3 star hotel, there are some other points I would like to refer to, based on my recent unpleasant visit to this hotel. The only reason for writing this review is that I believe this hotel is an insult towards customers and travellers. Our stay's duration was 7 days and as the days were passing the things did not get any better, on the contrary became even worse. To begin with, our room did not have any internet access and thus I had all the time to move to the reception in order to check my business emails. In addition, the sheets were not extremely white-clean and room service did not visited the room for a couple of days without any reason. Furthermore, the sound isolation was really bad. Moreover the toilet rubbish bin was broken from the beginning and althouth reported several times never got replaced. The response time of the reception was extremely slow and the staff generally speaking was quite rude. Last but not least, the worst thing that happened was this one time that the room service did not visited the room and the toilet paper run out, after my request and delay of 30 minutes and a second call to the reception, one of the staff opened the door and entered without even knocking! Because I would not like to refer to only negative issues, althouth these seem to remain in memory, the hotel had rich breakfast, really spacious bathroom, reasonable pricing, it is near the centre of the city, but apart from these nothing special. Based on my personal experience, I would NOT recommended it under no circumstances!

Bring the universal adapter. We got ours from Amazon. While there use their blow dryer. I automatically used mine which was too powerful for their circuits. Blew it up. Very very accommodating front desk. Will supply just about anything you need. Off topic but the little bakery on the corner is perfect for breakfast
