We stayed for 2 nights at this hotel and were very impressed with the overall service, value for money and location. The bus to the centre of town sits immediately outside reception, arriving every 5 minutes and cost €2.00. The pool area is a great place to relax, but the staff and their attitude to us as visitors was exceptional. Would definitely stay here again if going to the centre of Barcelona.

My daughter and I stayed at the hotel Catalonia steps away from the main square around the old cathedral and Medieval ramparts of Barcelona. Words cannot express our love for this city and this hotel. I have travelled extensively in Europe and your hotel in the cities are sometimes iffy in cleanliness or location or security. We were worried about staying in the inner city due to the reports of theft, and pick pockets and other crime. We had zero problems! Every morning we awoke to another beautiful blue sky and view of a corner of the square. For breakfast we indulged in a large croissant and cafe con leche in the cafe facing the cathedral! Breathtaking. The hotel was quiet clean and safe. It is conveniently located in the middle of a fantastic pedestrian shopping district and next door to the tourist bureau. Everything is in walking distance or by train or subway which is around the corner. We did not have a chance to enjoy the roof top pool as the weather was cool, nor did we eat at the hotel but the menus as well as the offering and atmosphere were enticing! The staff were friendly and helpful. Price was very decent for such a clean, Central European hotel. Rooms were small but very modern and comfortable. Do not hesitate to stay here! I can't wait to go back next year, God willing!!

Lovely hotel. It was rather hot when we stayed there, but the air conditioning in the room was marvellous. Unusually, it could be left on even when the keycard was taken out.
The room was spacious with very comfortable beds. The bathroom was also of generous size if a little dated. The shower was over the bath, so anyone of reduced mobility would need to check accessibility
We were on the third floor with a stunning view of Pl Espanya and the National Museum, complete with fountains and monuments. The traffic noise was apparent, and the road outside quite busy all night
The room had a safe and minibar, although the safe was being upgraded, so any valuables were kept by reception.
Breakfast was haphazard. There was an extensive variety of foods-fresh fruit, smoothies, pastries, cereals, made to order omelettes and pancakes, cooked breakfast etc, however, no matter what time we went for breakfast several options were not available. The replenishment did not keep up with demand.
The staff were lovely. The roof terrace, bar and pool very good with a panoramic view.
The airport bus stops literally outside the door, and there is a very convenient metro stop too
The check-in and check-out were very slow
Overall, a good place to stay
The attached photo is the view from our room

This hotel was very disappointing and sub-standard.
The service was poor and the hotel staff were not friendly. They left us with a new intern at check-in and left him to serve us without assistance, preferring to sit in the office behind him whilst he struggled on.
The bar staff ignored us and were rude when they did finally serve us.
There was no air conditioning in the room, as they stated to us “we only turn this on in the summer”. Not great when your room is hot in April.
The swimming pool isn’t heated and far too cold to take a swim in April.
The room was located at the front of the hotel facing a very busy road. This made it extremely noisy from early in the morning to late at night.
I wouldn’t return to this hotel.

Dear guest, Thanks for your comment through TripAdvisor. We are sorry about your experience with us wasn't the best. How you can review, most of our guests are satisfied with the staff so we apologize if you felt the opposite. The hotel hasn't got an airconditioning machine per room, we just have a big one for all rooms and we use it just in spring - summer. If you won't to be hot, you just had to turn off the heater. Also, the pool is not an indoor one, it's normal if the water is cooler than in summer. About noises, the hotel has soundproofed rooms. We would like you returning back, you are more than welcome. Best regards, Catalonia Barcelona 505

We stayed here for 3 nights for a city break. Check in was quick and easy so we were able to get straight out to explore the city. We noticed during our first night the air con wasn’t working properly and the room was boiling. We contacted reception and they sent someone up to look at it straight away. The maintenance man couldn’t fix it so they moved it rooms immediately, no questions asked.
This hotel is great because it has a lovely pool on the roof which not many of the hotels around have. There are plenty of chairs/beds also.

This hotel was perfect for what we wanted during our short stay in Barcelona. There are plenty of bars/restaurants/bakeries and the metro nearby so it’s in a great location. It took us about 50 minutes to walk to centre of Barcelona. Hotel was clean/tidy and staff were friendly.

Definitely recommend for short city break!

Thank you very much Jcat1234 for sharing your opinion with us. We are more than pleased to read all your nice words about our hotel. We are sorry if the aircon was not working properly first night. The central air machine is new, we have just set this winter. Thank you for your comprehension. Hope to welcome you very soon, best regards from barcelona
