We wanted to stay on the Ramblas to be near the centre of the city knowing that it had Gaudis work there and to basically have lots of Sangria and see the Sagrada { unfinished cathedral.} My agent didnt tell me that we were going to this" out of town" horrible hotel . I found out when the taxi drove us there after our 4mths of travel. We were short of money but not worried because breakfast was included and we had paid for a city tour before we left home. Now we are very fit walkers but we are oldies and the hilly walk to the Ramblas and Guell Park in 38 degrees nearly killed us. Our city tour didnt turn up and we waited for 2 mornings. The receptionist didnt want to help . It was though she didnt like Australians. When it was time to leave they wouldnt give us a late checkout and we werent going to fly out till 6pm a long trip Barcelona-London- sydney. As it was so hot i went into the toilets to wash myself before the trip home and the receptionist followed me in. I dont normally be critical of staff because they are a plentiful commodity and they move on but this experience ruined our only visit to Barcelona. We had a view of rooftops and the bathroom was narrow. I wouldnt advise people to go here unless you love a long walk to see something worthwhile.

The hotel was booked through KavalieroViajes travel agency. It was an average 4* hotel with spacious rooms, clean enough. Comfortable beds and pillows. Stayed in a room on 7th floor (max 8) noise level from the street is kept low through the double glazing. The room has air conditioning mini fridge and TV. The bathroom also spacious but smelly due to lack of good ventilation. Breakfast average continental but plenty. 5minutes walk to underground metro stop, 10 minutes away from plaza Catalunya (start of LaRamplas).
Tips.
Buy the T10 ticket to use in Metro and Bus ( u can use it numerous times within 1 hour, costs 8.25E)
The tourist bus is also an economic solution costs 20E for 1 day or 25E for two days. It will take you everywhere.
If you're planning to visit all the museums buy the museum card costs 25E and allows you to enter several museums including Picasso and La Pedrera in different case expect to pay around 10E and 14E for each, as u can see just the entrance to these two costs around 25E, so buying this museum pass is a good value for money.
Entance to Miro museum costs 8E while Dali museum in Figueres 9E p/p
Expect to wait in ques at least 15min in all main atractions (Casa Batlo-La Pedrera-Picasso) while at SagradaFamilia it will take ages waiting in line. Better stay out and take photos the exterior.
Make sure you see the water fountains show at Plaza Espanya (the show I believe starts 9.30 to 10.30 Thursday and Friday)
Take care of your belongings at all time. Communication with the locals is difficult (use hand language and gestures).
When ordering food also check the drinks prices. Food may cost 12E p/p but a jar of sangria 19E (serves 4), large glass of draught beer 15E, 4 pieces of bread 8E its a rip-off.

There are positives and negatives about this hotel. I was on a bus tour with Globus, so my room was booked for me. I paid for an extra night, $141. I now see a single room on this site for $70. WHAT A RIP OFF!!!
My room was nice and spacious. Great mattress and pillows. The hot water and shower were fantastic. Overall the condition of the hotel is very good. Nice amenities.
I did not like the location of the hotel. It is not close to the historical areas, nor the shopping/central area of the city. Being American and not able to speak much Spanish, my opportunity, not the hotel’s, traveling around the city was difficult. The hotel is near the Metro, but traveling alone, I did not want to run the risk of taking the wrong train and not finding anyone that could help me. Most every taxi ride was 15 euros and the drivers, not understanding English, (I did start writing down the address to (hand to them)just took off and started the meter. On three occasions, I was dropped off nowhere near where I wanted to be. Most drivers were extremely rude and were openly annoyed when I paid by credit card.
Only three of the hotel staff were nice to deal with, Yumara, Munia and a young man who worked evenings. Other members, especially the men who worked in the evenings and the man who worked the breakfast buffet were rude and did not really want to help me when I had a problem.
The hotel sold me a ticket for one of the hop on hop off double decker tour buses for 30 euro. I was given a print off of the payment. When I presented it to the bus, it would not scan. I had spent 15 euro on the way to the bus and 15 euro back to the hotel. I told the hotel about it. They said they would get me a refund which I still haven’t seen. This was six days ago. So I’m out 60 euro for a bus ride I never took. I also found out that the other tour bus runs near the hotel. Why wouldn’t the hotel sell that bus line?
Lastly, the breakfast was not good, especially the “hot items.” The eggs were cold and runny the sausages were barely cooked. The cut melons were not ripe.
I would only recommend this hotel if you can speak fluid Catalonian, the local Spanish dialect, navigate the metro or city bus line by being able to read Spanish.
As a footnote, I ran into rude taxi drivers in Barcelona and Madrid. I was severely language challenged in those two areas. I do not hold this hotel accountable for these issues.
I uses taxis today in Seville. What a difference, not just in taxi drivers, but in other service areas as well. One of the drivers told me Seville will soon be offering English classes for the drivers.

Thank you very much dhop0606 for all the time you spent writing your review!!!!!!! Proud of our guests! We regret the location did not like you. We are very close to the city center and we have also many hotels in the center if you prefer. The price is higher there , as you know, maybe 100€ more/night. For this reason, our hotel is appropriate if you want to visit the city and have a good price. Refering to the taxi drivers,, little can we do. Thank you so much for all your comments. Have a nice day!

The check-in was very poor. We got there late around 11pm. There was no smile no welcoming. The receptionist, Sergi was unfriendly he looked unhappy & we didn’t feel any personal touch or getting a greeting or a smile. He was direct, straight forward just like a robot. There was no kindness or care. Check-in took an awful long time maybe half an hour. Payment was messed up he got my card declined and I had to use another one. Day2 we called reception to ask how to turn on the Nespresso coffee machine as there was no on/off. The person started talking about something else. We asked for a manager and finally he told us how to use the machine. The same day in the evening we went to the hotel restaurant to have dinner. Restaurant was quiet and there were 2 staff working. We were ignored for 10-20 minutes so we decided to stand up & leave. Day3 we realised that Hsk didn’t refill the coffee capsules, sugar, milk so we called down to ask for some. The same person (Sergi) told us that we must go to reception to pay for it & pick it up ourselves. That was way too much now. We ended the conversation & went down to see a manager to complain. We complained to the manager, told her about the poor service, experience. We also told her that the Jacuzzi in the bath tub doesn’t work (she nodded & confirmed that yes it never worked) We also complained about the noise, smoking from the room next door that kept us awake during the night. Her response was that yes there was a noisy group right next door to us but they checked out at 7am. When we came back we noticed that our room was not cleaned properly (it was cleaned nice just for 1 day) especially the bath & shower, also the towels blankets were just thrown on the side. It was sad to see how bad the service is in that hotel. In addition, the bed mattress, pillows are hard so we couldn’t really get good night sleeps. The pool is very small, the area is dusty, water smells bad & there were no staff around.

Thank you very much Zeus J for sharing your opinion, we are more than pleased for all the time you spent writting. As we have told you in many websites you have written under different names, you booked an standar room and we upgraded you free of charge to a superior room. So, the coffee that you have included was on the machine Nespresso. Sorry for all the inconveniences you mention, so this was not our commitment. Thanks in advance for the opportunity you give to our hotel to improve. Your opinion is a gift! Kind regards from Barcelona

The hotel was chosen by our tour operator. Check-in was easy, it has 2 small elevators, bar and restaurant. The room is relatively big, the bed and pillows are comfortable. The hotel is not in the city center but the bus stop is just few steps from the hotel. Since it’s one-way road, you don’t go down to the same street going back to the hotel. Buffet breakfast is good with choices from cereals, breads, cheeses, fruits, proteins, etc. We tried eating at the restaurant but their paella version or rice toppings is quite salty for our taste buds.

We have just returned from a fabulous 4 Day break in Barcelona, we stayed in the Hotel Catalonia ( just off the Ramblas) I have to be honest and say the hotel was fabulous, the staff were all very polite and helpful, the hotel was quite so always had a good nights sleep, it was spotlessly clean, the room was cleaned daily and beds made and my daughters clothes folded!! The hotel sold a small selection of food as you entered and did a breakfast buffet downstairs, I used the gym a few times which had a good amount of equipment and again was spotlessly clean!! Towels for the use of the pool on request behind reception 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 I would most definitely stay here again, location was absolutely perfect, plenty of places to eat & drink and le Ramblas minutes away, no room views but plenty to see on the roof Terrance which don’t disappoint

Came here for the weekend last week, decent sized rooms , good air con etc , the only bad thing was it took us 25 minutes to check in and they didn’t apologise for the wait which I thought was a bit rude ! Most of the staff friendly. Would stay again :)

This hotel is a great place to stay, rooms were fantastic apart from when we first got here and the key card would not let us in our room, the mechanism was broken but quickly sorted, the rooms were very spacious and the bathroom was massive,a great positive the safe was free too, the staff were great and friendly and always helpful. The only real negative I can have with this hotel is that when we arrived there was 2 people at reception sorting something out and we was in a queue to check in there was people coming from all over just pushing in and the reception staff was letting them even though they could see there was a queue, back to a positive and a negative we had the buffet breakfast to eat which was nice but not worth the 17 euros each,we found an english bar about 1 mile away which did great food, The Philarmonic. The pool was also great very quiet roof terrace. we would definitely come back to this hotel maybe to stay a little longer than 3 nights. If someone is after a short break away I recommend this hotel

I left a large amount of money in the room. Housekeeping said she didn't find it when I know I left it on the table when checking out. The manager is very mean and useless. This is not the first review about someone stealing here so it seems to be a trend. DO NOT STAY HERE! BEWARE YOUR THINGS WILL BE STOLEN.

AC never cooled properly. The king-sized bed promised was never delivered and the two twin-sized beds offered a poor substitute. The restaurant managed to whip up very poor food. It also appears that the hotel was being run on a skeleton force. Staff seemed overwhelmed. The elevator is unreliable and broke down completely at one time leading to a trek up 7 flights of stairs. The beds have a strange wooden bed-head structure which could prove dangerous. Before you leave you will strike your head on it at least once. Finally there is no concierge. The bathroom was never properly cleaned and the linen appeared soiled on at least one occasion.

Bring the universal adapter. We got ours from Amazon. While there use their blow dryer. I automatically used mine which was too powerful for their circuits. Blew it up. Very very accommodating front desk. Will supply just about anything you need. Off topic but the little bakery on the corner is perfect for breakfast

It was about 15 minutes in a taxi, but the A1 and A2 airport buses stop right outside the door, are air conditioned and much cheaper. Hope this helps
