We approached from Beaver lake and could not believe how busy it was with people taking photographs of a great panorama. - Eva TUnited Kingdom2,451 contributionsIt has plenty benches and offers good view to the city. At the end is Port of Montreal Tower, you can look towards beginning of Lachine canal. Around the railing towards the Tower are information displays about the history of Montreal's port and canal During our visit the park behind the Tower was closed as they did some work there. It must be nice just to walk down and sit there when it will be finished. There where green and blue signs on pavement and posts along route and we passed some interesting art works en route. It's an up hill route and on entering Mont Royal there are two routes- a 500+ steep stair route and a more gentle paved one. This leads to the Chalet and Belvedere - fantastic views over Montreal and cafe / toilet facilities. It's a further 10 min walk to the cross .
