I have tradition of visiting Isle Madame Nova Scotia every year, and I make it a priority to eat here. Their menu is a long list of delicious meals, and is vegetarian friendly. The family that owns this establishment is very kind and hospitable, and ready to look after your adventuring needs. In addition to being a pub and a small Inn, they offer affordable rentals for kayaks and stand up paddle boards. Even if you are simply passing through the area, it's most certainly worth stopping by.

The location has some historical relevance as my wife's great grandfather operated it as a store back in the day. But the renovations have made it very comfortable and the Beatles' room titles is a nice touch to a child of the 60s such as myself. The restaurant has an interesting and appealing menu and the craft beers were very thirst-quenching.

Matt and Colleen are fantastic hosts and the food, oceanfront location, hospitality all add up to the perfect stay. We enjoyed the outdoor deck for breakfast and evening get together. The proximity to a boat launch, walking distance, made our Sea Doo excursions each day super easy. I am looking forward to our return, hopefully next summer.

After reading rave reviews and checking out the brochure to the Groundswell we decided check the place out for a staycation. We were met at the groundswell with empty beer bottles and cigarette butts littering the deck of the place. The front steps had a woman smoking on it right in front of the doorway.
The groundswell is basically on the road, it’s very noisy with cars travelling by. There is no AC in the rooms and the rooms are in the upstairs of an old home so it is hot- not worth the price. Not to mention having to have the windows open to listen to the cars zoom by.
The little “beach” was covered with broken glass and there is a septic tank in the middle of the backyard outside that STINKS. Our son was trying to play on some of the play equipment but it was filthy, covered in cobwebs.
Breakfast was not until 8:30am so we had to drive somewhere to get coffee in the morning. I saw pictures online of nice breakfast sandwiches being served, we were served with cold muffins for breakfast- that’s not breakfast. For the price of this place, please save your money and time.

My sister and I stayed one night at the Groundswell, and we would recommend that anyone who visits Île Madame does so as well. Our room was clean and cozy, the view was beautiful, and the staff were exceptionally kind and friendly. We especially enjoyed tasting the food and the local beer served at the pub downstairs downstairs. We wish we could have stayed longer!

A beautiful country Inn with great owners. The rooms are spacious and clean. The rooms also have beautifully named themes based on songs of The Beatles. There is a cozy restaurant / pub that offers great food and a great selection of drinks.

We stayed at Groundswell for one night in late September 2021 on our way to Cape Breton. The owner, Matt is unbelievably welcoming and accommodating. We enjoyed an excellent dinner in their pub, dining on a surfboard. Unfortunately there was no live music on the night we stayed which we had been looking forward to. I can imagine this place would be lots of fun in the summer with all the water activities they offer, the live music and outdoor movies we heard about. The room had a bit of a damp feeling to it - maybe just due to its proximity to the ocean. The breakfast is included and is delivered to the room by Matt’s cute kids. Nice touch.

Our room was lovely with water and land views, blackout curtains and a thoughtful minimalist aesthetic. Cozy bed and well-equipped bath — very clean throughout.

We enjoyed dinner in the pub, a happening scene with good variety on the menu. The owners manage this property like the professionals they are. We loved our stay!

My family of 4 enjoyed a delicious meal out on the patio last night. I highly recommend the blackened chicken fettuccine Alfredo! The nachos were also good. Burger was a bit dry and needed more sauce. The backyard to the venue was spacious and they allowed our children to play on the swing set. Very peaceful and relaxing, and they've done a nice job with recent renovations (makeover), will definitely return.

We attended a wedding at the pub followed by a meal. The pub was very cozy, the staff and owners were very nice and accommodating. The wedding took place in the yard which was beautiful with a wonderful view of the ocean. They served wings and a garlic bread to start and they were both awesome; the wings were incredible. For our meals, we had the burger and haddock - both were very good and very filling - lots on the plate! We will definitely be returning to eat and try the different craft beer on tap - they have quite a selection from Big Spruce and Breton Brewing. Highly recommend this place for food and drinks!
