One of our best hotel stays in all of Europe. Upon arrival we were greeted by Martin, who was both friendly and very helpful. Our junior suite was equipped with a king size bed, which I must say was the most comfortable I have slept in, at of ALL hotels EVER. I had to literally pull myself from it each morning. They provided a comfy cot for our 12 year old daughter as well, which was made up each day. We had the breakfast each morning, which had a good variety and was delicious. The server there greeted us each morning with a bright smile and was very attentive. The room had a small refrigerator which had Fantas, waters, juices, and a beer replenished daily. Coffee and teas were also provided in the room as well. We had a balcony with a beautiful view of the mountain and also a cute patio set for evening relaxation. The bathroom had a huge tub, vanity which included toiletries, hairdrier, and the most amazing rainfall shower. We fell in love with this hotel. Cristina was also helpful in providing local restaurant choices. The service we received from the staff members felt personal and of the highest standards daily. The decor was very chic and cozy. The atmosphere was elegant. This hotel was amazing and I highly suggest you don't look elsewhere. It made our trip. The pictures do it no justice. When we return to Barcelona, once again we will choose Hotel Primero Primera.

We booked this hotel for the week (19 to 26 September) and selected it because it is a boutique hotel with a swimming pool with disabled facilities.
Whilst there may be some disabled facilities it is far from being disabled friendly.

I have a walking disability and we have one holiday a year which is very important to us.
The key criteria for us being that we have an activity/doing day followed by a rest/relaxing day which we usually spend at the hotel pool.

We were allocated the only disabled access room which has a wet room and is ideal for me to have a sit-down shower.
We noticed a number of things within the room that required attention.

Saturday (arrival)
There was virtually no storage space at all. There was only one wardrobe but the hanging rail is set to a height that can only accessed if you are able bodied.
There were no clothes storage cabinets, my husband had to use a piece of old office furniture to store tee shirts and my boxers; I had to use her luggage as a supplemental
storage facility.
There were no bath robes provided on arrival however, they were made available within an hour or so.
There was no safety deposit box - one was provided within the hour. Our only comment being that whilst it is lockable to prevent removal of your valuables, it is
very easy to remove the entire safety deposit box.
There was no mirror in the bedroom which meant that I had to use the mirror in the bathroom which prevented the bathroom from being used by my husband.
The swimming pool could only be accessed up a flight of 19 steps and there were no toilet facilities at this level.
The swimming pool did not have any means to enable a disabled person to safely access or egress the pool.

We discussed these points with the concierge, particularly that I wouldn't be able to use or even access the pool.
We also asked whether he could find us a wheelchair hire service.
We were assured that it would probably be possible to arrange to hire a wheelchair by the next day, Sunday.

Sunday
The hotel was unable to identify any wheelchair hire service in Barcelona and it was left to us to find something ourselves.
We managed to find something suitable on our mobile phones within 10 minutes.
The concierge then sprang into action and called the hire shop for us.
We could pick up a wheelchair from the shop or have it delivered to the hotel for a charge.
We asked that the hotel either collect the chair for us or at least pay for the delivery charge as a gesture of goodwill. They declined.
On return to the hotel we found that it was not possible to access the reception with a wheelchair.

It would be very difficult for a single person wheelchair user to access this hotel by independent means.
There is no access ramp into the main reception.
Access to the dining room is only possible by the opening of set of double doors - this doesn't appear to be possible by a wheelchair user.
Access to the reception and/or the disabled access room involved being left on my own in front of a separate access door whilst my husband had to walk around to the reception and through the ground floor to open the door and let me in.
There is also an unpaved section which made it very difficult to push a wheelchair over it without extreme discomfort to myself.

Monday
Spoke with hotel manager and demonstrated the problems we were having and the problems other people in a wheelchair would experience.

We were offered access to a local sports facility which they would pay for.
It was just unfortunate that the sports facility didn't get this message, although we did have this charge refunded to us.
The sports facility was fantastic as a sports facility but terrible as a relaxing oasis that we were expecting.
It was a 20 minute walk/push downhill and a 30 minute push back to the hotel.
We used it once and spent every day of our holiday in/around Barcelona town centre.

The hotel manager was very apologetic and indicated that disabled access to the pool would be provided when they complete the planned modifications to the first floor.

We asked them to change their wesbsite to make it clear that access to the pool an in/out of the pool was not possible for wheelchair users.
As of today (2015-10-11) they have not done so.

We cannot recommend this hotel.

We've just returned from a 4 night stay at this hotel and have to say it's one of the best hotels we've stayed in. It is lovely and clean, the staff are very friendly and the room was fantastic. We were upgraded from a standard to superior double so had one of their 'attic' rooms with a terrace, large double bed, shower and separate bath. The minibar was inclusive and you could also help yourself to alcohol from downstairs that had an honesty sheet next to it so you would just be charged upon checkout.
The breakfast was very good, with something for every taste (cereal, meats, cheese, eggs, Danishes, croissants, pain au chocolat, fruit, yogurts, etc).
The pool are was fairly small but a lovely little spot and was plenty for us. We did a lot of sightseeing but the pool area was lovely to come back to and relax for an hour or so before getting dinner- it gets the sun until late.
The hotel was located in a very nice neighbourhood and there were a number of corner shops, restaurants and bars within a ten minute walk if you fancy something local. Otherwise, the nearest metro stop (les tres Torres) was within a 5 minute walk and takes you straight down to the centre of Barcelona within 10 minutes.
Fantastic place, we will definitely be back - thank you!

We stayed two nights at the PP on our second and final leg of our Barcelona trip before flying back home.

We were upgraded to a bigger suite and the room seemed wonderful. It gave our 11 month old lots of space to run around. The lady who checked us in was very helpful. She recommended we eat dinner at Dos Torres, which was a fantastic choice.

However, the room at night feels very dark as the lighting just isn't enough. We had lots of luggage and the entrance area to the room was so dim that we had to use the light from our phones to look into our suitcases. I still have a bump on my forehead from crashing into the shower glass partition at night. The hotel also lacks a ramp and it was a pain with suitcases and a heavy stroller even though there were just two steps.

Breakfast is a tad stingy considering the price of rooms. But it's the only option in the residential neighborhood. However, I must mention the very nice staff member at breakfast. He was kind enough to make coffee and bring to our table since we were feeding our lil one first.

The hotel is a bit further out from most attractions - takes about 15 mins or 10-15 euros by taxi. The distance isn't much but it just makes it harder to come back to the room and step out again for dinner/sightseeing. We stayed in the city centre on our first few days in Spain and that was definitely a better choice. The hotel is really far from the airport so it means a longer and more expensive ride in a taxi.

The second night we ended up ordering room service because our baby was teething and thus miserable. The portions were tiny. We ordered a portion of jamon iberico, lasagne and club sandwich, which was barely enough for two small eaters. The food was below average. Everything seemed to have been hurriedly microwaved before serving. The jamon iberico at 16 euros was dripping with oil. But we were happy to have the convenience of eating in the room.

We checked out at 7:50 am on Sunday morning. This is when things went straight downhill. I asked the lady at check out if I could grab a croissant and a tub of yoghurt to feed my baby in the taxi. We couldn't stock up the previous night because nothing in the area was open. She told me breakfast only starts at 8 am and nothing would be available now. I found it hard to believe that nothing was ready 10 mins before they open their doors for breakfast. Even a store-bought tub of yoghurt!

When we were leaving I saw breakfast had already been laid out. She suddenly changed her mind and let me into the breakfast area. I asked the other lady who was in charge of breakfast if she had a tissue to wrap the croissant. She cut me off rudely before she heard what I was asking for, saying - "What we have is what you see here." She probably realized her mistake and bought me a plastic bag. But no apology. She eventually packed a banana as well but her attitude ruined it.

This was the only hotel/establishment in Spain with such a cold and negative attitude. At 275 euros a night, I expected better. Save your money and stay someplace with better service and location.

My wife and I stayed here in late December for three nights and had a wonderful time. The hotel is in a quiet neighborhood a bit outside of town but easily accessible via subway to downtown Barcelona. We stayed in a loft-style room on the top level and it was incredibly spacious and comfortable.

The front desk staff were very helpful throughout our stay with any questions or needs we had. When we blew a fuse in our room they were quick to have someone come in and fix it.

Breakfast buffet is good though nothing remarkable. The room where you have breakfast is impressive though.

Barcelona is known for its artistic style and has a "bohemian elegance" to it that is perfectly exemplified in this hotel. If you value quiet comfort and high style for prices that are not outlandish, Hotel Primero Primera is a good pick.

We spent six nights in a junior suite (Large room). Our suite had its own terrace overlooking the pool and gardens. We took a taxi from the airport (around 30 euro). The surrounding residential area is quiet, upmarket and peaceful to stroll around for an early morning walk under the shade of the tree lined streets. Access to the underground is three short blocks walking distance. The service is great. The setting greater. The continental breakfasts truly delicious. The front desk assisted with local opticians when we lost a pair of spectacles. The laundry service was excellent (Each item of clothing was individually packaged on arrival). There are a number of spaces to chill out in - highly recommended. Snacks are also provided in one of the chill out areas. Our non-alcoholic mini-bar was replenished daily at no additional cost. Truly a relaxed atmosphere to return to after a long day of packed tourist activities.

If you insist on driving a car to Barcelona, this is the place for you. The hotel has a garage ($$) and is reasonably close to the peripheral road that rings the city. Even if you don't have a car, you'll find yourself within 10 minutes of downtown via the metro system (trains every ~15 minutes max). Two stations are maybe a 5 minute walk from the hotel.

This is very toney neighborhood with pretty apartment houses and expensive doctor's offices. There is at least one nice restaurant in the neighborhood, as well as a street of serviceable tapas bars. The "town" of Sarria is nearby, with its historic Monastir de Pederables. Compared to the ultra-crowded downtown tourist district, this area is a bit of an oasis.

The hotel itself is pleasant enough. Rooms are good-sized, but lacking some features one might expect in a luxury hotel such as drawers and bathrobes and windows that provide good ventilation with privacy. Breakfasts are average to somewhat above. There's both a staffed bar and an honor bar downstairs, and a substantial outside area and pool for the good weather. The interior seems to be that of old family residence with a lovely staircase. The current ambiance is very dark in character - clearly a stylistic choice.

We paid for an upgrade to a superior room. Don't expect a outside patio at that room class.

IMO, this hotel is right at the bubble of my top rating. I'm not convinced that the price-to-value is at that point, and the staff, while accommodating, is not uniformly helpful (although the young gentleman there in the morning was certainly very nice).

The Suite was very spacious and extremely clean with all of the required necessities provided. The decor throughout the hotel is of a high standard. Breakfast is limited but of a good quality, free soft drinks is a good touch. The location is very quiet in a residential area, however only 3mins walk to Les Tres Torres metro station

There is only a limited number of restaurants in the vicinity of the hotel, none serving the Tapas which we were after as part of our visit. The only other downside was that the hotel bar closed at 11 on Saturday night which was rather disappointing upon our return from a nearby restaurant

Dear Peter, Thank you for sharing your comments about your stay at our Hotel. As you mention, we are only 3 minutes away from the metro station and within 7 minutes more you are in the city center. We are located in a residential ares but surrounded by many good restaurants where the locals go. Among them, we do have 4 tapas restaurants in the vicinity which we usually recommend. You are right, our Bar usually closes around 11pm, but you have the option of our honesty bar. There you can help your serve a drink and settle up at the end of your stay. We hope to welcome you again to the hotel in the near future. Best regards, Alicia Cardona General Manager

Primero Primera is a lovely hotel. Staff could not be more helpful. Rooms and breakfast were great. Stylish interior and great honesty bar.

You can buy open-top, hop-on-hop-off bus tour tickets with "Barcelona Bus Turistic" at reception for a €1 discount BUT I WOULDN'T!
Doing this leaves you no choice if they are full and other buses may arrive sooner.
But worse still, Bus Turistic's service attitude is as unhelpful and rip-off as it could possibly be (see more below) and the tour commentary (if it works at all) is flat, dull, shallow and totally uninteresting - no history, no stories, no humour just descriptions of what you're looking at with dates. .

Two minutes after getting on the bus my ticket (~£50 for two) blew out of my hand - my fault I know - but the ticket collector to whom I'd just paid this money refused to issue me another and insisted I had to pay again. He refused to give me a receipt on the basis that he'd already given me one (which had blown away) and he refused to give me the telephone number of anyone I could contact to seek a refund. AVOID Barcelona Bus Turistic - use "Barcelona City Tour".

We stayed for 2 nights at hotel Primero Primera and it was fantastic. The nearest metro is a 5 min walk and is situated just outside of the centre, literally a 10min journey into the centre of Barcelona.
The hotel itself is beautiful, immaculately clean and the staff couldn't be more helpful our room was nothing short of spectacular with Egyptian cotton sheets and free yes free fully stocked fridge full of soft drinks.
In the lobby was also free coffee and muffins and an honesty bar for spirits which is a brilliant idea.
The breakfast again was superb, freshly squeezed orange juice and local produce including Manchego cheese.

To top off everything there is a swimming pool, gym and free WIFI which worked in our room (5th floor).

So to summarise if you are looking for a fantastic, clean, well run hotel in a quiet leafy suburb with superb transport links this is the place for you.
Did I mention the free fully stocked room fridge?

We had a large one bedroom apartment on the second floor. The bathroom had a solid door, not a glass partition. The bathroom was very spacious and nice, with separate areas for the tub and the shower. Plenty of privacy. I don't recall the exact amount we pain per night but it was more than 300 euros, but not a lot more as I recall, and we thought it was a great value. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. I hope we get to go back again some day.
