For a relaxing getaway, you couldn't pick a better spot. There was a slight mixup with our cottage when we arrived for a 2 day stay, but it was sorted out impeccably. It is how businesses handle mistakes that really show their true worth, and the owners were amazing.
Hide Away Lodge is down a side road near Kagawong on Manitoulin, and is on the Georgian Bay shore. The accommodation is in mainly in units stretching out from the main lodge, with 3 separate cottages. The units are fairly large, well appointed, and whilst not luxurious, are extremely comfortable and have everything you need. The gas BBQ that each unit comes with is a nice touch.
The Lodge faces out onto Georgian Bay, and has two small private beach areas for swimming in the bay, and Canoes to rent for paddling around. There is no restaurant on site, but with a full kitchen in each unit, and shops elsewhere on the island, this is not an issue.
For a great relaxing stay, in a very nice quiet spot, this couldn't be better.

I loved the view from the cottage, the beautiful blue water of the Huron lake, the frogs songs and all kind of birds and fish. The cottage was very comfortable and we relaxed long hours on the deck. It is not far away from the Bridal Veil waterfall and the "Cup and Saucer". It is a very quiet place, a nature paradise.

Had a great time at the Hide Away Lodge. Staff was very friendly, rooms clean and the property was well maintained. The sunrises were so pretty, having a bonfire in a personal pit is fun (wood is available 5$ per crate full) and on some nights you can see the northern lights. Right on the water there is a long dock and it is a good spot for swimming as it only goes up to your knees. The games room in the main lodge offers board games, pool, and shuffle board. I would certainly return to the Hide Away Lodge again.

As always Mel and her husband treated us awesome!!! Always very helpful and join in on activities especially theme night lol!!!!!! The cottages are clean and modern with all the amenities you would need, the beach is a little walk through the field but is good if you have small children, but once you get to the water the beach is sandy and no rocks in the water and very shallow for a long ways out for playing water games or just floating in the secluded cove.very close to miniature Niagara falls lol Breidal veil falls and store for quick shopping, grocery store is located in Gore bay 25km maybe. As always looking for our yearly summer trip to the island Mike&Lily Taylor.

If you need to unwind, unplug from the hustle and bustle of your every day life check out the Hide Away Lodge. Located in Kagawong, this lodge is situated on the North Channel of Manitoulin Island with sandy beaches and sunrises which will "knock your socks off."

We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite. Full kitchen, microwave, 2 bathrooms, coffee pot, propane BBQ, your own fire pit and No TV. Yes I did say No TV. The suite was clean. One thing to keep in mind here folks, the Hide Away Lodge is not a 5 star resort hotel, it is a rustic gem which highlights a return to a simpler way of life. Yes you have to bring your own food, beverages and bedding but this place is so unique!

There is a reading lounge and a games room which has shuffle board and a pool table in the main lodge. This is where folks can plug into the WiFi and, okay, watch TV if they wish. Bring your own beverages, as this Lodge is not licensed.

My lasting impression of this Lodge is the peace and quiet! The sunrises were spectacular. The blazing sun rising in the East over the mountains. The Canada geese greeting you in the early morning while they cruise in the water just off shore.

Campfires at night! Amazing star-filled skies and smores!

The Douglas family runs the Lodge with a genuine respect for nature and their patrons. Their easy-going, unassuming approach adds to the overall experience at the Lodge.

Highly recommend!

Enjoy.

Al & Mel Douglas were the perfect hosts as we enjoyed 3 comfortable roomy cabins with all of the amenities for bedrooms, kitchen and living room. The sunrise is spectacular as it rises over the La Cloche Mountains directly in front of the beach area. In the main lodge we enjoyed games etc. during a rainy afternoon along with other families who were all very friendly. It was truly a great family experience and while we are staying for 2 weeks this year we have booked cabins four 4 weeks next year. Wi-fi is available in the lobby. This resort was Shangri La.
