We just came back from a family trip to this wonderful hotel. It is my first review for a hotel and I am struggling to say how good it was. We went there with our 4 year old son. we have been upgraded to a superior room who was great for our family. Large and very spacious with an on suite just for my son...
Facts: hotel is simply incredible in term of quality and service. No matter how hard I tried, could not find faults or very little. The size of the room, attention to details, furniture, spotless clean and the kindness of the people working there. The breakfast was very good and refined. You can have it in the dedicated area or outside.
The level was well above five stars hotel for a very good value. In fact, it basically set the benchmark how hotels should be in Europe and beyond. Let me explain why?
The owner lives in the first floor and you feel like you are invited in the house of a very refined and and caring guest. The free bar in the room and common area is real and well appreciated in hot Barcelona. The lobby is the place where even my son appreciated stopping after a long walk in Barcelona. It is decorated with taste and very very intimate. You don't feel a second in a hotel, more a VIP guest somewhere exclusive. Once again, it is not about impressing you like so many hotel try to do but trying to make you feel at home...in that, this hotel is unique in my books.
some practical facts: hotel is not in the centre but a very short train journey by train. You arrive at airport and take the aerobus (less than 10 euros return). You cross place Catalonya (terminus) and look for L6 train (orange link sign). You need to buy a t10 ticket (little less than 10 euros and to be used 10 times. You have one hour use for each tickets so can start with train then bus) or t70 if you stay longer and have a big family (valid for all the family so you use same ticket several time on bus, train,... Turn journey for 3 people takes 6 so goes quick and children pay from 4 since this summer :-(). The t50 is for one person only.
You stop at tres Torres in the L6 going to Reina elisenda. Hotel is 5 mins walk and very close.
The area is posh and highly residential. I had to walk around to find things. The main road to eat and shops called Mandri which is 10 mins away. Small supermarkets, pizza place, some good restaurant. The gem was finding bus 14 that takes you straight to the sea area and el borno which was the highlight if our adventure.
Buses are great and complement very well the train. I highly recommend using them as you see the city. We could not afford expensive restaurant too many times so eating cheap was important. Trio advisor help us find the pedreta (you choose your fish and Hamas which are grilled on the spot. A dream at a very good price...a must see just close the station the Francia bus stop line 14 or barcelonetta. Bo de b gives you the best sandwich ou can get in Barcelona...doesn't look the part but don't be fooled. for fideua and paella , go to restaurant el Fondo which is in estrella very close to placa real. Very nice fr 8 euros Per Person. There's also a family friendly pasta place 30 m further on the same street. My wife found a vegetarian restaurant near placa Catalonia, the restaurant is called Teresa Carla I think (simply incredible and impossible to find without trip advisor review. I am not vegetarian but quality was out of this world. So impressed we have eaten there several times).
All in all, can't recommend enough this hotel which was far beyond what we expected. You are not in the heart of the city but so happy to come back to the safe heaven of the hotel. If you want the sea, you may want to see closer to el borno area. Otherwise, very hard to find better in Barcelona. I wish there was a hotel like this in every big city. Hotel stay will never be the same...that's how highly I rate this hotel.
When I read other reviews before I went, I was skeptical and not sure what to expect. I will simply say that most people were spot on. I just tried to add more practical dimension to this hotel in term of gong around. Lots of buses and rain to go anywhere direct. Use them and enjoy your stay...

This hotel is honestly one of the best hotels I ever stayed in. We were in Barcelona for a weekend away (a wedding) and we choose to stay in Primero Primera. it recently opened but we didn't notice that at all. So relaxing. The staff are phenominal and very friendly. They speak excellent english and really make you feel at home as this is a boutique hotel. Food (breakfast) was fantastic too and again great service. All drinks and nibbles in the liberay (which looks amazing) are complimentary as are the drinks in the minibar, which we thought was a great, great service. So if you want to stay in an hotel in Barcelona, do stay here. Doesn't matter if you are there with friends, a couple, family or for business. I will allways stay there. Everything is also very close (taxi or public transport).

Greetings Jeroen Proos.

This hotel is situated in a quiet area, a little too quiet should you be looking for nearby restaurants and bars. These will require a long walk or a Metro journey! We ate in the bar/restaurant, an uninspiring and expensive meal which was prepared by the bar attendant. The hotel itself has a stylish décor, although the minimalist lighting may add to a certain bleakness, especially in the 'attic room' that we were initially allocated. We were moved to a 'Standard Room' a day afterwards, which was fine but quite dark (the black wall paint having quite an influence). The staff were helpful and breakfast was fine, although there was an extra charge for an egg.

This hotel is quite newly established. We tried it because more central places were unavailable, but I reckon that once word gets out about its quality, it too will be booked solid. It's family run, and the conversion to a hotel was done with, apparently, no regard to cost, and most luxuriously. The attic room where we stayed was one of the best, if not the best hotel room I have ever seen, and service and staff could not have been improved upon. Comfortable beds (very) and quiet surroundings. Attention was even paid to details like: the blackout curtains are really efficient at keeping the light out (very easy to oversleep!)

While it is not in the centre of town, once you get the hang of the metro system this makes very little difference. The thing is to get a ten-journey ticket for zone 1, making each journey cost just 0.80 Euros. You have to remember incidentally to use the correct entrance for the Tres Torres station, ie the one the far side of the road if you are going downtown, as it's impossible to cross from one track to the other at this station once you have entered the station. Tres Torres is 5 minutes walk from the hotel.

Incidentally, we found an excellent restaurant, La Gardunya, tucked away at the back of the big market (Boqueria) off La Rambla, an easy walk from the Plaza Catalunya, which is the main central stop and on the L6 line connecting the local stop for the hotel (Tres Torres) with the centre of town.

I'm almost reluctant to add a review, because maybe there won't be any availability next time I want to stay here! I stayed for 4 nights, and this was easily the best hotel I've stayed in during 5 visits to Barcelona.

I stayed in room A3 which is a superior single in the "attic", which is the rooftop. The roof is open-air with comfortable seating. The room itself took my breath away: sloped wood-beam ceilings, skylights looking up the hillside and illuminating the spacious bathroom with separate bath and shower. Very roomy and much more relaxing than the sterile modernity of many other Barcelona hotels.

Service was wonderful -- was given a tour of the hotel and my room by the front desk staff. It's hard not to feel at home in a hotel of only 30 rooms.

The common areas were very well decorated. I only wish I had more time at the hotel to enjoy the complimentary snacks/drinks (including the mini-bar) and the honor bar area.

Breakfast was quite good (pastries, fresh breads, hard-boiled eggs, juice, granola, fruit, etc), though it could use some hot dishes. We ate lunch there once which was good and reasonably priced.

The neighborhood is so quiet, I slept with my window open and woke to birds chirping. The peacefulness does mean it's a bit more remote. We usually took taxis, as our conference was at the Fira Gran Via with no easy metro route. However, I do believe the metro (just 4 blocks away) does go more directly to the central tourist areas.

The gym is small yet functional (upright bike, elliptical, recumbent, and treadmill, plus some free weights), and you will probably be the only one in there. If you're a runner, there's a hard but great 5 mile run up the hill and across a bike/pedestrian-only road with great views of the city.

Highly recommended! I hope to be back!

Lovely 38 room hotel in a posh residential area of BARCELONA, away from the tourist areas, yet easy to get in and out of. Quiet, very pretty and friendly. Only thing to watch out for: the A/C is centrally set, i.e. the hotel decides whether your room can be heated or cooled, not you the guest... We slept very badly because on a warm day in May our top room floor was unbearably hot the whole night :(

We spent 3 nights at the Primero Primera in one of the attic rooms and it was lovely. The attic rooms share a decked area mostly open to the skies and with sofas outside, which was nice to relax on after a hard days sightseeing. The hotel is situated in a very nice area of the City and is around a 10 minute train ride out from the main square. Trains are frequent and inexpensive (just under 10 Euros for 10 single journeys). TIP - The nearest station is Les Tres Torres, come out of the station, turn right, take the first left and walk up to the hotel (about 5 minutes). Nice to escape the hustle and bustle. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the breakfast was continental but plentiful. TIP - Barcelona is a big City and I would recommend using the hop on hop off City sightseeing bus. We had a 2 day ticket for a few Euros more and it is well worth it. Lots to see and do and we would definitely return.

I stayed here on the last night of my trip, as I was desperate to escape the noise of the city, and wanted a quite place to sleep that was in a nice area not far from the airport.

Primera Primero proved to be a good choice, as it is a charming, quiet hotel with a helpful staff and some interesting architecture and a boutique experience.

The room and especially the bathroom was very nice, and they even include all the drinks in the minibar as part of the price. There were outlets just above the nightstand, which is a nicety I wish every hotel offered. The linens and mattress were very comfortable, but contrary to the pictures which led me to choose the hotel, the bed was simply two twin mattresses pressed together with seperate linens, instead of a single queen sized bed and queen sized comforter. While I know this is common in Europe, I feel that this format should be disclosed to the would-be renter. I was also disappointed that the pillows were foam, as I greatly prefer feather. The room also only had heat and no A/C (though I think they change over in the summer), so one has to choose between sleeping with the window open and hearing more traffic noise, or overheating in the middle of the night.

The included breakfast is sure to put a smile on your face, as it is quite comprehensive, and served in a charming dining room.

Overall the hotel was a pleasant experience and a good value for the money.

We spent four wonderful days at this hotel in Sept 2014. The hotel is so convenient to the heart of the City - just 4 subway stops away... The breakfast room and meal itself were lovely. We enjoyed sitting outside.. Room was large by European standards with beautiful high ceilings and the rain shower off the charts.. The honour bar was such a nice touch and a great spot for a quite nightcap. Our only complaint was that as the room was painted very dark brown and had low lighting we had to use the Iphone flashlight app to find our things in the closet.. We'd love to stay again and so enjoyed the back garden and pool for it's quiet peace and tranquility after at busy day of crowds and sightseeing.. The bar fridge in the room was complimentary and always fully stocked upon our return with water, juices and sodas..

Myself and my family, husband and 2 children, age 9 and 6 stayed at the Primero Primera over the weekend. This is a lovely, small, quiet hotel which is far enough away from the centre noise and bustle of Barcelona but close enough for all the sites to be easily accessible. What makes it even more special is bumping into the owner, aged 94 who lives on part of the first floor. The room was very spacious, clean and comfortable with a small fridge, sink and tea and coffee making facilities. There is a metro station within 5 minutes walk where all of the main tourist sites are only a few stops away, the metro is very easy to navigate. The closest stop for the hop on hop off sightseeing bus is only 10 mins walk, you can buy discounted tickets at the hotel, and this through 3 routes takes you around all that's worth seeing in Barcelona, allow a day just to stay on the bus if your doing all 3 routes. All in all a beautiful hotel in a beautiful must see city.

We had a large one bedroom apartment on the second floor. The bathroom had a solid door, not a glass partition. The bathroom was very spacious and nice, with separate areas for the tub and the shower. Plenty of privacy. I don't recall the exact amount we pain per night but it was more than 300 euros, but not a lot more as I recall, and we thought it was a great value. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. I hope we get to go back again some day.
