The hotel has a fantastic location, on a lively pedestrian street, close to two metro stops and in close walking distance to many sites. The "family room" was a great option for us. In Spain, it's hard to find a room that fits four people. The suite had two rooms and one big bathroom. One room had two twin beds pushed together for a double (I think that's what it was), and the other had two separate twin beds, great for our kids. It gave us a lot of space. The bathroom has a frosted glass door, so there are no worries about privacy. The breakfast is very plentiful, and they even offer eggs cooked to order as well as some gluten-free options.

We stayed at the Francisco at the beginning of April and the hotel was wonderful as were the staff. The room was fairly small but for a few days visit it was fine, and there was an ample size wardrobe if you are staying longer and need somewhere to put your clothes etc. The room was impeccably clean and the staff were highly attentive, even presenting my wife with a birthday card and some Parma violets on realising it was her birthday (presumably from the passport as I hadn’t mentioned it). Breakfast had a good range of mainly cold foods and as to be expected in Madrid - lots of meats. There is however a good selection for vegetarians including a variety of cereals and pastries as well as breads and cheese. The location was superb, ideally sandwiched mere minutes away from Gran Via, Plaza Mayor and Puerta del Sol. Gardens and Palaces are also close by - so much to do and see without breaking any walking records! Ubers are easy to come by so getting around is easy if you don’t want to use the public transport (we had a small child with us so mostly walked places with his pushchair). Be careful with your room card as if it’s not in its own pocket separate from any other electronics you may find yourself continually returning to reception to have it reset.
If we come back to Madrid we would 100% book back in with the Francisco.

My husband and I were scheduled to visit Spain in March 2020 when the pandemic hit 3 days before we were to fly out. Like everyone else, we scrambled to get refunds or travel credits from all airlines, hotels, and the like.

Talia was the person who answered my emails about the possibility of getting a credit/voucher for future use. Though the policy was typically about one year before it would expire, Talia was kind enough to extend the credit, especially given the ever-changing landscape in both the US and Spain. Talia was amazingly generous with her time and effort trying to work with me (46 emails back and forth within 2 years) because I kept having to push the trip back.

We finally got to enjoy our stay at the beautiful Hotel Francisco I this past week. The hotel is centrally located to all the major sights and restaurants we bookmarked. The front desk staff I encountered frequently (Javier and Emilio) were very friendly and accommodating given my questions leading up to the day as well. Because our flight was landing around 9am in the morning and check-in isn't until 3pm, they offered the early check-in option for 40 euros. We gladly paid given our need to feel comfortable upon arrival.

The hotel including our room was immaculately clean and modern. The breakfast buffet included had a selection of different pastries, meats, cheeses, fruit, juices, and a coffee machine, all of which were covered or handled with care. The staff in the dining area constantly cleaned, so we always felt safe.

The only negative to note is that the walls are thin in the hotel and you can hear people in the hallway/elevator. However, the street noise is barely heard and honestly very quiet at night.

We would definitely come back and will be recommending this wonderful hotel and their staff to anyone! Thank you again Talia, Javier, Emilio, and all the staff we encountered during our stay!

We loved the location, the ease and our room was very nice! Bathroom has a shower, bidet and a nice hair dryer. We had a balcony as well. No noise from the street Our room was cleaned every day, and we had our clothes laundered (for a fee) and it was brought in a basket nicely folded. The front desk staff is very professional and accommodating. We will definitely be back!

I can't say enough great things about this hotel. The location was in the heart of the city which made it easy to walk to all sites we wanted to visit. We had a room with a terrace which allowed us to sit outside and enjoy the view even though the weather was a little chilly! The staff was courteous and helpful and even left a birthday card in my room with some candies (much appreciated!) Everyone spoke English.

Some of the reviews and pictures on the website show glass bathroom doors. They must have updated them because ours was frosted across the middle which gave ample privacy.

The room was clean and spacious with a modern décor. The beds were very comfortable with plenty of pillows. We had daily housekeeping without having to ask.

If I had to pick a negative, I would suggest that body lotion and tissues be included in the amenities.

We had a very enjoyable eight night stay and will definitely stay here again when visiting Madrid.

The hotel is in a fantastic location for sightseeing, the royal palace is just a 10 min walk, plaza de major only 5 mins with shops, restaurants etc right outside. But saying that we weren’t disturbed by city noise, it’s a very quiet hotel.
The room was clean, modern & very comfortable.
The breakfast was basic continental but just enough for us, we were happy with a hot drink, fruit & pastries (I did see others ordering bacon & eggs).
I definitely recommend to stay here for a weekend sightseeing in Madrid.

We have just come back from 4 nights at this superb hotel which appears to have been recently refurbished to the highest standard. The rooms were amazing. The location is what makes this hotel stand out. Walking distance to every historic site, particularly close to the Royal Palace and Cathedral. Surrounded by lots of restaurants. The hotel offers breakfast which was very good, a hot breakfast was also available at no extra cost. All the staff from the lady who cleaned our room to a high standard, the young man who was in charge of breakfast and the reception staff and concierge were extremely professional and friendly; they all definitely went over and above to make our stay special. We would definitely recommend this splendid hotel and will return should we visit Madrid again in the future.

LOVE, LOVE the location! Noise insulation from the street and the adjacent rooms is very good. The room is quiet for a good night sleep. The room is small but looks airy thanks to the glass door (of the bathroom), the glass shelves. Very good lighting. There is a Nespresso machine in the room. The bathroom is airy and spacious.

Main desk is courteous and efficient. Check-in and check-out was quick and professional!

Breakfast is excellent, from the cold cuts, to the fruits, to the yogurt. Great variety of very tasty bread and sweet and savory pastries. Everything is delicious! The coffee machine in the breakfast room provides many options for coffee style.

The hotel is great. My stay included the breakfast which I think is mediocre. The down side with a boutique hotel in the city center is there is no gym or anything like that. The hotel sign is not prominently displayed so make sure you remember the location (next to a Turkish treats store and a pharmacy). We stayed in a room on the sixth floor and the room is relatively big and amenities are adequate. My only complaint about the amenities is there is no kettle you can make tea for yourself. When we were there they were fixing some faucets or pipes and advised us not to drink the tap water. There are two small supermarkets nearby you can easily buy inexpensive bottled water and fruits and snacks as we did. Location of the hotel is amazing. But soundproofing of their rooms is something they need to address (noise from other guests in the hotel, not from the street, which is often boisterous during weekends or holidays).

Booked on the Thursday, checked in on the Sunday! Great last minute booking. Central location, large king bed and really clean. Had everything you needed; hairdryer, safe, wardrobe, mini-fridge and a small selection of toiletries. The only negatives would be that breakfast was 14 Euros (quite expensive considering you can easily get a pastry and a coffee for less than 5 Euros within a minutes walk) and would recommend requesting a room above the 1st floor due to noise at night from the street.
