Carmel Mission Inn captivates guests with its exceptionally clean and comfortable rooms, although a few have mentioned noise and amenity issues. The hotel's modern charm and pet-friendly policies contribute to a welcoming atmosphere, complemented by the commendable service staff who go above and beyond. Its advantageous location offers convenient proximity to Carmel's attractions. While the heated pool and hot tub are highlights, some guests feel that the hotel's rates do not always reflect good value, citing unexpected fees.

We have stayed here several times pre-Covid so I didn't really expect to have any concerns. We've loved the rooms and location so booked our stay as usual. We travel with our dog and it has plenty of dog friendly walking areas near by. This time we were in what must be the older part of the hotel but even that wasn't that concerning. We checked in around 9 pm and our room smelled strongly of disinfectant with the bathroom floors feeling wet like housekeeping had just left. The TV remote was not wrapped in something indicating it had been wiped down like every other hotel we've stayed in since COVID. There were glass glasses also unwrapped so we had no idea if they had been handled/cleaned properly so used the paper coffee cups for water instead. Then there was the used bar of soap in the shower that pretty much sealed my concern. The parking lot was packed so I'm assuming they had a full house which also means less time for a proper cleaning and airing out in between guests. I rarely write negative reviews but felt compelled to share our experience in a place we used to book but will be looking for alternatives on future visits.

We booked three identical rooms at the same time. However this hotel (Motel-6 should be more appropriate name, based on experience) charged us $127.41 extra for one of the rooms, we brought this to the attention of the front office, they told us that only a manager can fix it. We went to front office several times, until we could see a manager. Manager was the rudest person I have met in my recent memory, she told us point blank, "do what you want, this charge is not changing". This is just roadside robbery, I was expecting better from $300 a night stay.

The hotel room service did not come to service the room even after two requests. We had to reuse our towels on second day.

I agree with other guest comments. The hotel walls are paper thin, I could not go to sleep till 2 pm on night, because a TV was on till early morning in one of the rooms, two rooms away. I finally had to knock on that room. Any time someone knocks your neighbors door, you have to go check outside, because it feels like someone is knocking on your door, that is how poor the sound absorption is in this hotel.

The pictures online are deceiving, the beds seem much smaller than standard queen and king beds.

If you want to save your trip look elsewhere, this hotel is being run in less than honest way.

The hotel is constantly overbooked and their is construction going on all day which they do not tell you about when you make a reservation. The management will not let housekeeping clean your room they say "because of the covid" which is total BS..... They do not mention this when you make a reservation either.
They overcharged me twice on my credit card for a one week stay. The rooms have a funky decor. I am a local Carmel resident and I would highly recommend you do not stay here. There are plenty of better hotels in Carmel for the same or lower price

Thank you for your feedback. Yes, you are correct that unfortunately a staff member at our front desk overcharged your card but I do believe the charges were only pending and we reversed them. I apologize that this happened as it was oversight on our part when you requested to pay by cash. The construction during your stay was power washing to beautify all the beautiful cedar wood on our building and is almost complete. As of this week we have added back in to our operation a daily light clean on all guest rooms. Again we are so sorry for your experience and hope that you will give us another chance.

Due to wildfires in my area I had to find a hotel that could accommodate me and my small dog on an immediate basis. They offered me a discounted room rate for me and reduced the pet fee.

The only unfortunate problem was that even though I requested a ground floor room because my dog is elderly and incontinent, they weren’t able to provide one when I checked in.

I did have a very large room and felt that the room had been properly cleaned per Covid protocol; but being a bit anal I did clean all surfaces again.

Their WiFi is terrible. Last Saturday and Sunday, I waited for 20 min on several and I mean several occasions to load a page from a website. For what you pay for a room, you would think this hotel would have a functional WiFi. The hotel was full and bet you that the front desk would come up with some excuse as to why it took me so long to load a page. My IPad is new and this is unacceptable. Also, the hotel charges extra fees, they are $20 a night. They say the extra fee is to maintain the parking lot, pay for pool chemicals. With Covid 19, restaurant, bar, etc are closed. Why don’t they just say resort fee, sneaky.....front desk staff was nice.

The hotel was easy to find, right off PCH, the entrance is a little hidden, right behind the Chevron Gas station. The room was easy to get to, parking was nearby, the heater made a lot of noise at night (that was the reason for 4 point rating), made it a little hard to get to sleep but once asleep it did not wake me up. All other commodities were great. The location is great, walking distance to breakfast and dinner locations, coffee, bagels, gas, only 18 min to Monterey Bay, 8 min to downtown Carmel and beaches. I will stay here again.

We just returned home from staying a this hotel for a couple of days. We absolutely loved it! The newly updated rooms were comfortable and stylish. We enjoyed the Scandinavian look very much. The staff and operations manager were more than friendly and accommodating. I had to call housekeeping twice: to request an ironing board/iron and additional towels. Those items were delivered to our room quickly by another friendly staff member. The location is perfect being right off of Hwy 1. And considering CA is still in the middle of the Covid-19 crisis, we felt that the hotel staff did all they could to help us feel welcome and comfortable. The fact that the restaurant wasn't open and that housekeeping only cleaned before and after our stay did not bother us at all. The only negative aspect of our stay was the weak WiFi signal, but when I mentioned that to a front desk woman, she said they are aware of the issue and are working on it. But, this hiccup certainly did not sour us on our experience and will not keep us from staying here again. We were surprised that we were able to stay in such a nice room for the price that we paid. I have spent similar amounts for rooms much less satisfactory than this one. In fact, we are pretty sure that this will be "our hotel" for our future trips to the Carmel area. I plan on recommending the Carmel Mission Inn to any of our friends who may venture up that way.

From the moment we arrived to the moment we left we had a great time at Carmel Mission Inn. The Inn is extremely clean and well organized. The feel was retro with a modern twist.

I stayed with my wife and 3 kids. The kids always enjoy the pools at hotels and this time was no different. With social distancing a concern during these Covid times this was not a problem with the spacious pool and ample, spread out seating. With restaurants within walking distance we did not have to drive for breakfast or dinner. The location was right on the corner of major roadways so it was ideal for getting in and out.

Overall the Inn is top notch! Thank you for the "great stay"!

Just decided we couldn't stay in the little city of Carmel anymore. Found this place with a web search and took a chance. Totally happy with that decision. It's only like 3 minutes out of the village, but it's a world of difference! They're totally dog friendly and they only charge once during the stay instead of multiple charges.
There's a load of shopping in the immediate area. A Safeway! Pet Store, Vet, CVS, at least 3 coffee shops! A french bakery with an amazing case of pastries! There's even a fondue place!! Overall, this place is well maintained, the staff well mannered and trained and I could not be happier with this choice. They even put your dog's name on a sign at the entrance welcoming them to the hotel!

We lost a night's sleep because of noise outside the window. A truck was steam cleaning the parking lot from 1 AM to 3 AM. Some surfaces in the room were sticky and we had to clean it - not good in time of COVID. $20 resort fee was charged, but hotel was under renovation and all facilities except pool (cold!) were closed. We have stayed here multiple times and liked it in the past. They gave us a $100 discount to make up for it after 3 night stay.
