Carmel Mission Inn captivates guests with its exceptionally clean and comfortable rooms, although a few have mentioned noise and amenity issues. The hotel's modern charm and pet-friendly policies contribute to a welcoming atmosphere, complemented by the commendable service staff who go above and beyond.
Its advantageous location offers convenient proximity to Carmel's attractions. While the heated pool and hot tub are highlights, some guests feel that the hotel's rates do not always reflect good value, citing unexpected fees.

Detailed Reviews
An ideal location for your Highway 1, Big Sur or Carmel Valley cycling journeys. No wasted miles! The hotel itself has great rooms. There is a pool that is open during Covid, but the hot tub and gym are closed. Rooms have a refrigerator and not water, but no microwave. Across the street is a Safeway for breakfast food and nearby are many dinner eating spots. You can leave your car in their parking lot all day even if it's your checkout day.

I stayed at the Carmel Mission Inn last weekend and booked a 2 queen dog friendly deluxe hotel room. The room was far from deluxe. It was dirty (tons of clumps of dog hair on the floor), the bathroom smelled like a sewer, the room was dark and dingy and the walls were paper thin. I understand it was a dog friendly room but that is no excuse not to sweep up pet hair. I notified office staff of the hair and sewer smell and the unenthusiastic front desk person offered to transfer my group to a room that was closer to the highway (thus even nosier) or come and clean the room again. My group settled for the additional cleaning. When we returned to our room later that night the same dog hair remained on the floor. Their standards of cleanliness are concerning especially during COVID and their lack of customer service was disappointing. I will never return to this property again.

Horrible Experience. If you want the temperature in the room to be at least 70 degrees, do not book this hotel. I traveled two hours to visit Carmel California, and was charged because the hotel was unable to get the temperature to 70 degrees. They explained they have an old heating system and that they would only be able to provide my wife and I extra blankets. We left within 30 minutes of the booking and was still charged for experience. This situation has left a stain on our trip to Carmel California. I DO NOT recommend visiting this hotel.

A wonderful escape with your fur babies. The hotel rooms have been updated, we found all hotel staff very friendly. During COVID 19 they followed all protocol making us feel very safe. Although the restaurant isn't open there are plenty of places to eat outdoors in walking distance and downtown.

The staff at the front desk is not friendly and they make it feel like a chore that they have to check you in. During our stay every interaction with the front desk staff made us really dislike this "hotel" more and more. The hotel is actually an old motel that they slapped a coat of paint on in order to raise room rates... total rip off! Will definitely pick a different hotel for our next trip to Carmel.

My wife desperately needed a short break from work so we decided to go to Carmel for a few days.
We had a very nice Wednesday to Saturday stay with a nicely updated and very quiet room and convenient parking. The lobby/public areas have also been updated as have the front patio and pool areas, making them great places to just relax and hang out.
Being right on Hwy 1 the location is super convenient with numerous restaurants close by and easy access to Big Sur (south on Hwy 1), Carmel (basically right across Hwy 1) and Monterey (north on Hwy 1).
We will definitely be going back!

We stayed in a pet friendly room. It was very clean. No sign at all that pets stayed there before. It was quiet and we had a restful sleep. I cleaned the entire room (includint the bathroom) with disinfectant before we used the room. I was surprised that my cleaning cloth looked clean (except for the daybed close to the window - everything was really clean). The few people we met observed CDC guidelines. Everyone was friendly including the staff. The location is great too - close to the beach and shopping malls plus restaurants. We plan to come back and we definitely recommended the hotel to our friends. Thank you to the management for making our stay wonderful.

Such a beautiful property surrounded by excellent quality eating places, picturesque scenery and walking area. The feel of home can also be felt in the room we selected which came with a patio. The patio is a lovely extension of the experience. Very clean and truly beautiful!

Pool and hot tub temperature ideal for colder climate. Well maintained and perfect for the family. Rooms are great with night views just presenting a genuine chill vibe away for the hustle and bustle of touristy downtown Monterey. Shearwater restaurant??? 25 ounce Goliath rib eye steak, skirt steak and yukah fries are divine. Even the calamari is tender as can be and the staff very knowledgeable and take pride in their work. Especially Stephanie, Gladys, Caitlin and Michelle. Chef Fabian will come to your table and with pride take time to describe delightfully how he came up with his menu and what regions items are from.

Nice, quiet, and clean hotel. Loved the blue pool at night. I liked the fact that the room was not cleaned daily therefore avoiding possible exposure to COVID.
Across the street there is a shopping center with restaurants, stores, and a Safeway.
