The location was good assuming you had a car but do not rely on public transport. The hotel--motel was clean and well decorated and pool area well kept.
The problems started with reception who were not very well informed. Could not give information on bus services and even gave wrong location for the bus stop. Before leaving I wanted to check in to two airlines. One receptionist said no problem but when I went to do it on the day another receptionist said it was against hotels privacy policy???
I then had to find a business centre and pay $40 to do ckeck in.
Food / Bar was adequate but not available Sat--Mon.
We were there for a week and on two days were advised there would be no room service. On a third day we had to request fresh towels as the room had been missed.
I do not think the bed linen was changed during our whole stay.
The biggest issue I had was with the finance department. ON settling the final account I decided to pay fully in cash and not use the debit card they had taken on arrival. On return home I found two debits on my card one for £270 which had no relation to any services. The second for £493 which was for the total bill paid for in cash. after telephone calls not responded to and four e-mails I eventually got the accountant to credit the money back a month later. still awaiting a call from Mary the manager to explain why they had taken money from my account without athorisation

We booked three identical rooms at the same time. However this hotel (Motel-6 should be more appropriate name, based on experience) charged us $127.41 extra for one of the rooms, we brought this to the attention of the front office, they told us that only a manager can fix it. We went to front office several times, until we could see a manager. Manager was the rudest person I have met in my recent memory, she told us point blank, "do what you want, this charge is not changing". This is just roadside robbery, I was expecting better from $300 a night stay.

The hotel room service did not come to service the room even after two requests. We had to reuse our towels on second day.

I agree with other guest comments. The hotel walls are paper thin, I could not go to sleep till 2 pm on night, because a TV was on till early morning in one of the rooms, two rooms away. I finally had to knock on that room. Any time someone knocks your neighbors door, you have to go check outside, because it feels like someone is knocking on your door, that is how poor the sound absorption is in this hotel.

The pictures online are deceiving, the beds seem much smaller than standard queen and king beds.

If you want to save your trip look elsewhere, this hotel is being run in less than honest way.

Would not recommend this hotel. Booked through a booking site, and did not clarify that there is no room service, no place on site to even get a cup of coffee! The room was a bit dirty and run down, the water machine be was broken and out of use, and our room had windows facing the parking lot and a stairwell! There are many other places I think would have been more enjoyable. We even had to get our own blankets from the car as the blankets are the thinnest I’ve ever seen. When calling the front desk do not expect customer service-

We could hear the water running through the pipes all night. Made it very hard to fall asleep. Restaurant was closed which was a let down since we wanted to order room service breakfast and have drinks by the pool.

The beds were very comfortable! Hot tub and heated pool made for a great day.

We were more than pleased with our stay at the Inn. This is in contrast to our prior stay a couple of years ago, when the inn was being renovated, on Christmas Day of all days, and my wife will ill. The noise was horrible. We complained and got a discount, but still......

The remodeled hotel is wonderful. It was clean. The staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. Our room was across the hall from the elevator and we expected to hear a ding every time the elevator stopped on our floor, but we never heard any sound.

Our room was spacious and the bed was quite comfortable. Our only gripe is the the dispenser in the shower did not work when we tried to pump body lotion. I also suggest that room service include 2 packages of regular coffee in stead of one regular and one with vanilla.

The dining room was also remodeled since our last visit, and is quite nice, open and airy. We shared an excellent omelet, and after eating I approached manager and complemented him on the cook's food.

The hotel is a good place to stay, central to a lot of places in the Carmel area. It is close to several beaches, to the Mission Ranch, to the Rocky Point Restaurant (if it is still open), and Carmel-by-the-Sea.

We will be staying here again in the future, now that the inn has been renovated.
