The Hilton Clearwater Beach Resort & Spa boasts an inviting atmosphere that blends modern touches with classic elegance, despite some areas showing signs of wear. Nestled on a picturesque beachfront and just a stone's throw from local attractions, the hotel's location is frequently lauded by guests. However, many visitors feel the steep room rates and additional charges for beach amenities do not offer good value. While the service receives compliments for its warmth, the accommodations are often criticized for being outdated. Cleanliness is generally well-regarded, although a few travelers have encountered issues.

This is a nice enough hotel, right on the water, nice pool and cabana. But here’s the thing. You’re going to pay for your room, your “resort fee” and mandatory valet parking and then you're going to pay for a million other little things. You need to tip the valet every time the move your car around. And the rules. I mean there is a rule for everything. No outside food or drinks at the pool. No personal chairs on “their” beach. We figured we’d rent an umbrella from them on the beach and use our chairs, nope, you must use their chairs. Also their portion of the beach is well back from the water so if you have kids swimming you better be able to sprint like David Hasselhoff. You can schlep all your personal stuff from the hotel, across their section of the beach to the public section which is what we did but it’s a lot of work. There you can have your cheap food and BYOB. I bought an umbrella from across the street. At $24 a day for an umbrella and $20 a chair the thing paid for itself. Frankly, with this pandemic, to me, they are lucky anyone is here. I wished we hadn’t come at a few points. I’d be less annoyed by the rules if I wasn’t also stressed about covid. You’d think they would relax A LITTLE and just be glad people are here. I understand they want to sell their food or drinks at the tiki bar but I think people would buy their stuff on top of their own stuff. None of this stopped me from ordering quite a few pina coladas at the pool. Additionally, we have friends and family in the area. There was no where inside the hotel where we could sit and hang out and they wouldn’t let hotel guests bring outside guests into the pool. No maid service, which is fine, it was too risky to have someone come in the room but every day you have to either call for towels or track down the maid cart because the room is small and it’s just not practical to hang bath towels to dry in there. There was a very small fridge in the room, a microwave would have been nice. The employees were as nice as they could be under the circumstances. They have to enforce the rules of their corporate overlords and try not to catch covid. So I appreciated their efforts.

Stayed there for a long weekend. Hotel is in a great location. We parked the car and did not use it again until we left 4 days later. They have done some nice renovations to the room, such as updated the bathroom and super comfy beds, and pillows. My only question is...why would you not change the carpet? Gross. Hilton should really address this. Although, the hotels (Hiltons) are touting their sanitizing policy by pairing up with Lysol, I can tell you my room was NOT vacuumed or swept. I found a cookie leftover from the previous guest. I didn't see it until the next morning and it kind of skeeved me out. Service at the pool bar was very good. Bartender was friendly and courteous. Service at Tommy's Tiki was sub par. I'm not a big fan of snippy comments from staff when I'm asked if there is anything she can clear away from the table. I said "sure" and went to hand her some empty food containers and she responded with "It's not like I have extra hands right now, so wait a minute", umm, ok. Also, there are quite a few "rules"... bartender can't close out your tab unless you're physically present. I've never had any issue like that before. Water is not complimentary at Tommy's Tiki, you will be charged for bottled water. Just go up to pool bar for a cup of water. You have to give your room number when you grab towels and you have to give them your number again when you return them. If no one is available when you return, then you have to remember to tell them the next day. What??? You will only be able to sit in the 3rd row if you rent beach chairs. First row is reserved for the $125 package with lounge beds, and cabanas, 2nd row is cabanas and beach chairs (not the beds). I have been to MANY resort/beach hotels and I have NEVER seen anything like this. And all the chairs are set so far back, good luck at getting a view of the water. You cannot bring your drink past the first row to the water because it's against their liquor license. Again, a first for me. Not sure that I would return. I gave it 3 stars because location is on point, but I can get that and better service elsewhere. This is not a service-oriented hotel. There are plenty of other Hilton brands up and down the coast.

We stayed for 4 nts in June 2021. Location was excellent, close by all walking distance restaurants, shops, CVS, Walgreens, Dunkin Donuts, Publix grocery store, pier 60, trolley/public (free until July 5, during the Covid) buses are nearby at every corner. Staff was friendly and great service. Room 726 has old carpet, mildew/mold by the air vent, ceiling has black stain. It looks like old paint or unfinished paint. At the time, I wasn't able to fine airbnb close or on the beach. We booked at Hilton $500/nt, it was way over our budget but we had a great time. No need to rent a car, hotel will charge you $25/day to park. Hilton billed us 2 days parking in error but they refunded back to us. We rented front row Cabana, 3 lounge chairs for $251, it was expensive but we splits in 5 which is not bad. The beach is very clean compare to where Wyndam is located, the beach has a lot of seaweed and dirty. Stay near the Hilton white sand, feel cool and soft on your feet. You can feel the ocean breeze and hear the wave while walking on the beach. People are very friendly and helpful.

I booked a 4 day conference there. The banquet and AV staff were the best I have encountered in years. I see people in these reviews talking about the condition of the rooms, but I don't think they realize that is just what happens when people track in sand and what the salt water air does. I saw maintenance working on those minor repairs every day I was there. Housekeeping was so nice to me as I was leaving, even tho I had a late checkout.
My group is used to high end resorts, and NO ONE had a negative thing to say. They loved the rooms the food and the event space. I only heard wonderful things.
The location is certainly prime.
The desk, valet, banquet, and restaurant staff made me feel more appreciated and taken care of than any other resort I have been to since preCovid. And apparently many of the staff has been there since preCovid, which means management is obviously doing something right.

This hotel is older and badly in need of renovations. The rooms smell molded/smoked in and who still has double beds like this place? The staff is not friendly and they force vallet parking when they clearly have plenty of space but decide to rent it during the day to other people using the beach. They do not have a hot tub and the restaurant had a limited menu and was way over priced compared to other Hilton’s. They also do not recognize diamond status and only provide a bagel and banana for their breakfast unless you want to pay $30 for a “hot” breakfast. The workers have a bad attitude and do not want to help. They also have a resort fee that covers what Hilton honors already provides such as WiFi and pool towels. I would stay away from this place. The only bright part is a nice sun set view of the pier on the one side if you have a room there.

This is the worst Hilton property I've stayed in. My husband is a Diamond member so we only stay at Hilton hotels. This hotel was dirty, loud and very small rooms. I understand we're in a pandemic, but constantly seeing overflowing trashcans, dirty towels and trash in hallways really makes you feel "yuck". You have to request your room be cleaned, so we did once, and they just made the beds. They didn't restock our towels, coffee, cups, etc. When we needed these items, we would just have to find a housekeeping cart and grab stuff we needed. The rooms are so small, as are the bathrooms. Literally one person can fit in the bathroom at a time which isn't ideal with a family of 4. When we arrived our refrigerator was broken, and the peep hole cover was off. We had to call maintenance twice to get them to come. The property doesn't seem secure as it claims a private beach, however it is so easy for people off the street to just walk in as all the gates and doors were open/no security. They allow public parking in their parking lot too. It is not family friendly as our room was on the Mandalay Road side, and you hear bar music/yelling/cars/sirens all night. The room was so dusty, the carpet was disgusting and ripping in spots. The baseboards were gross, and the balcony/tracks of the door were disgusting. I would never stay here again and not recommend it. We tried to find another hotel while we were there but everything was booked except a nearby fancy hotel that was $800 a night. We usually as Diamond members get free hot breakfast too, however the free Diamond member breakfast for us was the continental breakfast of muffin/cereal and a piece of fruit. The service at the breakfast restaurant was awful too. It took forever. This hotel just felt dirty and unsafe to me. I was very disappointed as Hilton's are usually great.

The Hilton is a great place to relax on vacation or unwind after a days work visiting the Clearwater-area office. Directly on the beach, the hotel takes advantage of its great location, although it is undergoing rennovation to expand the bar and restaurant facilities and become even better. All of Clearwater Beach is a short walk from the central location and the hotel clearly works hard to earn all it accolades.

After staying here annually for 10 of the last 11 years, I’m done. They have nickel & dimed this Diamond member for the last time. If you are an HH member, your hard earned status will mean nothing here. Better you forgo some points & choose the Wyndham, Hyatt or Opal Sands. You will certainly have nicer accommodations. I wrote them twice to ensure a room facing south to avoid the smells & noise on the Northside. Never heard from them & no note on my reservation. The final straw was their new breakfast policy where HH mbrs have to choose from a very limited menu of cold items, all selected for you. Nice fruit plate, but you don’t pick out the fruit. Want 2 berries? Too bad. The only protein on the menu is 2% milk. At a Hampton I can select my food & get a waffle. It says something about hotel mgmt. when the staff is apologizing for these policies & suggesting you talk to a manager. I truly felt sorry for them. From the $25 resort fee that includes HH earned rewards like internet & water to throwaway items such as a digital photo or laughably free local & 1-800 phone service to policies geared to boosting their bottom line this is not the place to stay. I actually witnessed a manager tell a little girl she couldn’t eat her Pringles at the pool. Really? I do have major kudos for the service & housekeeping. Everyone we interacted with was extremely personable & helpful. Take it from a loyal, point chasing Diamond member, skip the points and stay at a newer property on the beach.

This is our 17th year coming to this location, it is perfectly located for Restaurant’s of all kinds including the two here pool and inside. The breakfast brunch is pretty good, it used to be better, now with less selection. If you go you will be met by two of the best servers and managers we have ever met in our travels (Mary is always greeting you at the main desk and Becky blesses you with here southern charm and a few great stories about her husband asking her to retire ) There’s some new faces of course, at the pool Kyle is a standout ask for him if you can! The food at the pool is way better than inside, so get the breakfast and save room for lunch or an early dinner. Tommy’s tiki is perfect for the sunset, if you order food it comes from the pool and if so it is likely delivered by perhaps the most quick and conscientious delivery service tahron is super always asking if you need anything else.

The rest of the staff are very welcoming, the housekeeping team on floor 8 has said hi or do we need anything every time we walk by.

There was one one special note this morning that was disappointing, it appeared that a a manager was conducting a walk through review with a senior manager. While they walked through the pool area the manager said hello and how was everything going, the senior manager acted as if we didn’t exist. Back home I oversee more than a hundred folks and believe strongly that you should always be a strong proponent of your team, this gentleman did not emit that in any way, I did not like that at all !!!

The only other dissatisfaction is the internet, very intermittent.

I would have rated a 5, unfortunately the senior manager piece was very upsetting.

This hotel is in the perfect location in Clearwater. Right on the beach, right next to the pier where you can fish and across the street from some fun shops and small restaurants. There is also a Walgreens and CVS in walking distance.

The beach is gorgeous and has an area that’s roped off for only hotel guests with a small bar and grill. There are beach chairs for rent ($10 a chair when we were there) and some “beds” with covers over them. The bed with cover and two chairs with umbrella was $125 for the day. There is a towel pick up and drop off by the pool which is very convenient to the beach as well.

The smaller pool was heated to 83 degrees so at night you could swim.

The staff is super friendly as well. We felt very welcome. The room was kind of small but clean. The beds were doubles not queens so it’s a tight fit for adults but workable. Although the beds were comfortable, the pillows are horrible. Hard as a rock and all of us complained that they hurt our necks.

Other than the pillows, this hotel is very nice. We would definitely stay here again.

They were doing some work but nothing significant. For the money you paid for rooms, dining and bar I feel they should be doing quite a bit more. It is very dated and in need of updating.
