We enjoyed camping here first time for 4 nights mid week in July . Lots of people come and stay a night or two and go. I think it nicer to stay mid week and found the grounds quiet and enjoyable . We had no problems with any rowdy campers at all. It was super hot when stayed with our rv and thankful we had ac ! The spot was number 8 and behind us was the Red Deer River . There are paths you can walk down to the river . People brought large floats to use but I’m not sure where they launch from. We saw them carrying them towards the tree area . There is a large building with ladies & men sides . Several coin showers & bathroom stalls . Took a quick look & clean inside ! There is a rv dump station & large sink wash area available close by. If you pay $10 at the office , staff will come do your sewer at your site . That was nice option . The staff was nice in the office and there are snacks & things to purchase there. We walked there daily to enjoy ice cream treats . I bought several 3D T Rex jointed toys for my young grandkids to take home around $7.50 each . I really liked our spot and it had picnic table & a fire pit and trees around . The campers were all respectful and no parties at all . There are nice gravelled roads to walk or bike on & we saw areas where people had trailers with nice gardens & yards . A large playground for kiddies to play and an open field for soccer . You can keep your trailers here & pay for 6 month sewer & power as a holiday place . But they close down winter months . I would come back again !

Service was really good, pretty good location and facilities kept clean. Review would have been higher except there doesn't appear to be any "quiet time" enforcement as we were kept up until after 2a.m. with the party across the park. And sooo many dogs, we were camped beside a family with 5 dogs, 3 small and 2 large. 6 am sitting drinking coffee and a very large dog apparently escaped during the night from their "kennel" and comes around our tent and starts growling at me. Luckily I yelled and it took off but honestly outside of the party all you hear at this campground day and night are dogs barking at anything and everything.

Had a lovely 2 nights at HooDoo RV Resort and Campground. We parked our 25 foot RV + car + tent on one site easily. All sites appeared to have fire pits and we had a lovely spot near the river (remember the mossies!! Horrendous!!).

The new owners seem friendly enough (no, they didn't come around and check up on us and ask us all about ourselves, but I couldn't complain about their demeanour or manner) and their little camp shop was well equipped enough (although firewood was a bit pricey - see if you can buy some at a petrol station before arriving).

There are two children play parks, nothing amazing but functional enough.

And although the sites themselves are situated right next to each other (like parking spots in a parking lot), it didn't feel to crowded because there was enough trees, benches, hedge, etc ... around to still make you feel outdoorsey.

Now, about the noise factor. We were up to about 11:30 (family of 4 + 2 grand children) without issue. We did hear from the camping only section music and noise, but it didn't affect us at all. Also, Alberta's national park grounds have alcohol bans on long weekends - Hoodoo's is private so there is no such ban which probably makes this a busy and noisy place on long weekends. Don't know what the new owner's attitude is towards noise/music, but to be honest, I'd avoid any private campgrounds on the long weekends - just gonna be full of Canadian's on-the-lash.

Would come back here and recommend this place (5 minutes from the HooDoos rock formations, 10 minutes from Drumheller, 5 minutes from Rosedale - small town with liquor shop and petrol).

Cheers and happy camping.

Easy to book and a friendly staff. I understand that the patrons that book are how they are but when the large camping area near the highway is not patrolled or controlled it can get out of hand. Dogs running free, having to dodge unleashed dogs running at you, side stepping around fresh dog turds, hard to relax when your dog is being targeted by unleashed dogs, the firing off of fireworks after midnight, generators running all night, loud parties and loud screaming all night. Could be a one of however, if you have rules and have someone to enforce them this could be prevented. I would consider coming back if the Campground has something in place to enforce the rules and keep everyone safe.

Just spent the long weekend. Very accomodating, clean, fun and family orientated. Something for everyone. Great place to become a seasonal. New owners doing a great job keeping up with the already welcoming environment. Friendly staff. Needed some assisstance and was accomodated immediatley. Great for tenters, overnight RV'ers or seasonals. Washrooms/showers and laundry rooms clean and easy to access. A little windy at times; but, comes with natures environment. Will definately come again and have already refered friends and family. My daughter liked it so much the family became seasonals with no regrets. A must try and only ten minutes from Drumheller.

We arrived a day early, our spot we reserved for the following night was occupied so we had to pitch out tent in the wide open field. The wind was blowing so hard the tents were collapsing on thier sides, and we had no protection what so ever being in the field. We stayed that night, but because we had reserved for the following night, for 1 night only, we asked for a refund because the weather was so bad and we couldn't sleep in the tent again in that wind, they tents around us were starting to rip and be destroyed. The refused a refund even though we still stayed and paid for one night. I thought this was very unreasonable. We booked for one night, changed to another night, but yet we were still locked in. They were not full so we were not taking someone's else's space. So we thought it was not worth the $21 to stay again and loose our tent so we left. Other campgrounds were more sheltered and didn;t have this problem. They are also outside of town a fair ways, so plan on travelling once you are there. Staff was not overly nice, or helpful. We drove across canada on this trip, and this was the worst palce we stayed.

we were there for the July long weekend, the weather was absolutely beautiful that's about it. The new owners of the campground never came around once, and the garbage can was so full of garbage from everyone camping around, they cleaned it twice the whole weekend, very disgusting. I find the new owners not at all friendly and rude. Was having a fire one night, music on a little past 11pm, they came and asked us to turn it off. We did, 10 minutes later they literally snuck up on us on thier john deer with headlights turned off and told us we were being loud, a couple of parents and 5 kids at 11pm at night. WOW!!!! great camping trip, we have went every year for 5 years, we will no longer go with these new owners

As some of the other reviews indicate, this campground may be quite satisfactory for self-contained campers. However, we stayed in the tenting area which is a long way from the washroom. But we picked a site close to the nearest porta-potty. What a mistake! It was the most disgusting toilet I have ever encountered in over 60 years of camping. Picture a cess pool with the floating waste almost too close for comfort. We hoped the problem would be rectified by the end of our 2nd day, but it wasn't. We made the long walk to the washrooms when it was feasible, but I noted that the men's section only had 2 stalls--not many for a campground advertised as "...the largest in Alberta."

On a positive note, the grounds are spacious and level. There is also a nice playground.

However, there are much better bargains for the $25 that we paid, especially in the provincial parks. Some have hook-ups and showers for $30 or less.

Had stayed at the Hoodoo campground on May long weekend and enjoyed every seconds.
The campground and all the amenities were clean, very well maintained.
We cannot say enough about the campground and the staff! They all go out of their way to make the stay here special, we find them very friendly, any assistance asked for is always met, sometimes before expected. Pleasant, efficient, the office staff go out of their way to answer quesions, find solutions and assist in any way possible. We would happily recommend Hoodoo rv resort for any r.v.ers, those with families looking for a great spot for the summer, We're expecting family members to join us for their stay this summer.

We admittedly booked a little late for the August long weekend but figured unserviced overflow couldn't be that bad. It is.

You get tossed in a bare open field beside the highway with a random smattering of tables and fire pits with *ONE* porta-potty 50ish spots (including a few group spots).

If you're idea of fun is camping amongst a symphony of howling open-frame construction generators from sunrise to sunset than this is your dream come true - for the rest of us it's not exactly a peaceful place. Then there's the stereo wars, late night fireworks, and the howling drunks.

Maybe the regular campground is better. It looked alright and the shower facilities were decent.

I probably should have realized what I was getting into at checkin when the "store" was stocked with cheap Chinese counterfeit products (and Benchmade or Browning reps reading this?).

Live and learn I guess.
