Write a reviewMy family and I recently returned from Dreams Royal punta Cana. We travelled from July 20-27 and we deeply regret visiting this resort. It’s disappointing that we didn’t have the greatest experience because the resort had great entertainment (love dJ spaghetti) and there were a lot of nice staff members. Unfortunately, there was issues with the room and food quality. Our hotel experience was kicked off with ants in the bed. When we went to complain they told us that they would have to verify that there were ants in the room. So we were inconvenient with the ants in the bed and we had to wait to get issue resolved. To make matters worse we had the do not disturb on our door and they left a note. When we saw the note we tried calling the concierge to have the person come back to verify. After multiple attempts of calling we decided to take video footage of the ants in the bed and bring it to concierge so they could stop wasting our time. When we went back to the front desk we were greeting by someone new and he said that its hard to control the ants in July. He said they usually fumigate before guest arrive to mitigate the ant issue and they could fumigate again. We refused the fumigation because we had a toddler and we didn’t want to risk toxic air. He offered to move our room but said he couldn’t guarantee the ants wouldn’t be an issue in the next room. We requested that we had new sheets on our bed every night. If we would had known ants were a common issue then we would had never booked at this resort.
On a separate note, my husband, sister and brother in law got food poisoning. My husband filed an incident report at the resort about the food poisoning. The buffet food is not good quality. The cheeses and cold cuts stay out in the humidity when it should be sitting on ice and rotated out. We are still waiting for my husband stool report from the doctor to confirm his illness. And the frozen drinks were never frozen. The food and drinks were below satisfaction. My family and I will not be returning to this resort. I have read other reviews with similar complaints and the resort has responded apologizing. But it seems that the issues still continue so don’t waste you time coming if you like quality food. You will not get that here.

We were a group of about 50 people for our wedding. Our wedding was at the Jellyfish restaurant nearby, but this resort was our home base for our close friends and family. We had the best time. It accomodated our group that was a mix of parents with kids, single friends, and couples - and they all loved it and everyone left happy. Special shout out to our butler, Luci, who was very helpful with all our requests, including dinner reservations and booking our taxis. The night shows are so fun! One night they had a "cirque du soleil"-type show and I thought it was going to be a typical cheesy resort show and it was actually really impressive - the acrobatic skills had us all stunned!
A few hot tips & some helpful info: My favorite restaurants was probably the mediterranean restaurant (I forgot the name but it's the one right beside the buffet) and Portofino. The mediterranean restaurant is my top choice, because the food is really good and it looks beautiful. Also as a tip - at night, the bar at this mediterranean restaulrant has the best cocktails in the resort - including an amazing espresso martini, and if you ask for a round of shots the bartender does a whole performance with fire - it was so cool. Portofino has gorgeous outdoor seating along with great food.
One very helpful info (or at least I wish I knew about this beforehand) is that there seems to be a little confusion with access to Secrets, the attached property to Dreams, that is adults-only. They're both owned by Hyatt and for clarification - Dreams resorts guests only have access to Secrets at night time and only for their nightclub, casino, sports bar, or the spa with an appointment (so not their restaurants or pools). The confusion for us was that the Dreams resort recommended us going to Secrets for their casino and nightclub and we were under the assumption we had access to walk into the Secrets property at anytime to walk around there if we wanted to, and that is not the case. Dreams and Secrets also have no gate or anything seperating them so it's understandable to think you can walk around either property at anytime. However, during the day, they have workers that stop guests and ask to see their room key. If yours is from Dreams, they'll simply let you know you can't go into Secrets (which happened to us and a couple of our friends who were also unaware). That being said, the sports bar and nightclub at Secrets is so much fun. The nightclub is uplevel and in open air with lots of seating outside of the dance floor and even a small pool also beside it. It's all very millenial-friendly pop/hiphop/latin music. The sports bar is also very fun at night. One last tip, I believe when you check-in and they give you your room key they also add some sort of coupon that you can claim at the VIP desk if you want (it's usually like a big discount for lunch, dinner, spa, casino, etc) - as a heads up , if you claim this coupon it will involve you talking to someone about a timeshare. My husband and I didn't claim the coupon so we didn't have to deal with that, but one of our friends did. For what it's worth, my friend told us they do end up giving you a coupon discount but you have to talk with them at length about a timeshare. So if that is something you want to avoid, they will not push it on you unless you go and claim that coupon.

I just wanted to take this time to write a review and thank everyone for their amazing service.
I first have to start off with the check in experience. We arrived around Wed Feb 24 at 1:45pm and check in took a little long as we were a group of 10 (we had more checked in later on). Our rooms were not ready until 3pm but no big deal. We changed into our swim wear in the hospitality room and got some drinks by the plaza.
Diorisa at Reception is super friendly and I had prior communication with her before arriving. She was very patient with our group even when some had not received their covid results by email and made it her duty to get it printed for us.
While waiting to check in, we were introduced to Eduardo who would be our concierge for the week as we were there for a wedding. Eduardo was very nice and friendly. He was super helpful in getting us the reservations we needed for the large group we were hosting (26 people). When my brother lost his phone on the property, Eduardo immediately alerted all the staff and my brother's phone was recovered. Turns out he left it over by the giant chess set. He even helped when my uncle left his coat over by the buffet area. THANK YOU EDUARDO!
The food was amazing. Jacobo over at the grill made us the best burgers and nachos ever. Santo was hands on on getting all these people their drinks and mamajuana shots. All with a smile on their faces.
The bartenders over by the pool and beach were all very attentive to our group and kept bringing us drinks throughout the day. I don't remember all of their names but the ones who stand out to me are the two Jeffreys, Alexander, Robert.
WELCOME PARTY: We had scheduled a welcome beach party for our group on Friday Feb 26. Francina who was our wedding coordinator was on point every step of the way. As we were getting ready, she called us to inform that it was too windy on the beach for us to have our party and if we wanted to switch it to the terrace of the portofino restuarant. We are glad we took her advice as in the middle of the party, it started drizzling. Alexander was the bartender here for the night and kept coming with the drinks. Eddy our dj was amazing.
WEDDING DAY: The wedding was scheduled at 5pm. We spent majority of the day at the bridal suite. If you are uncertain about the bridal suite, get it! It was nice to not have to run back and forth between rooms and have everyone relaxing in the bridal suite until it was time for the ceremony.
We got our hair and make up done at the spa but our hair did not hold up as it was VERY windy during the ceremony. No big deal, but I will advise to go for an updo instead.
The ceremony was at the beach as well as our cocktail hour. A double rainbow appeared during the ceremony and briefly after the ceremony, it rained. Thankfully it only lasted about 3 minutes and we were back on the beach taking group photos.
Reception was at the seaside grill. The venue is BEAUTIFUL!!!! We had lobster and steak for the entree, sancocho for the starter, creme brulee for dessert. Everything was delicious. Seriously I have zero complaints. Alexander was with us this night also and partied with us. I can't wait to come back and host another event with Dreams Royal Beach.
COVID TESTING: Since we were leaving on Wednesday, we got tested on Sunday afternoon. We checked in with Raquel at reception before being taking over to the Secrets side where the test is conducted. Raquel was so sweet and calming. She even went out of her way to calm my 10 yr old niece down and ordering her an ice cream sundae for the ride over to get tested. The nasal swab is the deep swab but it truly was not as bad as I expected it to be. I had SEVERE anxiety but it was fine! Forgotten of within 10 min (about as how as it takes to get the results). I am pleased to say everyone in our group tested negative! Yay!
Room service was amazing. The food came warm and quick. Even when we ordered a pizza at 2am lol.
Pools were a little chilly but we came from 23 degree weather back in NY so once in, all was fine.
My maid Maria was very nice and thoughtful. I seriously got spoiled by the turndown service. The room was clean and spacious. Pool view with a jet tub on the balcony.
All in all, there isn't a single complaint I have. I wish we could have stayed longer. There wasn't a meal I didn't enjoy or an employee that I wasn't grateful for.
I have to give a special shoutout to Francina Rodriguez, our wedding coordinator. She made everything so easy. Even when 3 extra people showed up for the wedding 2 hours before the ceremony. She is on top of her game and she was so easy to get along with. She has surely made friends with me and my family. Please ask for her if you are having a wedding here. We trusted her with all back up decisions and she turned out to be right every single time. She was so patient with all of us which made the entire planning process easy and enjoyable.
Dreams Royal Beach will see me again soon.

Amazing stay!
We back in this hotel for 3th time and i we are really like it!
The hotel is nice, clean and the food is amazing!
Lovely big beach!
The entertainment team is amazing, they are everywhere on the beach on the pool they do evening shows too, they play with the people games.
Specially the JR( Junior),Spaghetti, Dark blonde, DJ lappy, James Bond, sweet Caraline, Shaghi they all very good.
Amazing Karaoke party with Spaghetti too
Lovely people we really enjoyed with them
We recommended the hotel and if we have to back again we will back in this hotel

We went june 3rd until june 13th and we like the services with the Preference Club and the Butler Billy was really attentive, available and everyday he suggest the activities of the day by text on the App ''Whatsapp'' and he took care of everything we requested. The King's room with swimp up at the section 4 was spacious, clean and most of the time calm. Sometimes there's loud sound coming from the other room with the TV, the walls are not so sound proof, but we didn't have a lot of problem with that. The Wifi was not perfect in the room 1-3 lines on 5, but in the World Café, lobby etc. it was ok. The food was good, but we prefered the Restaurants Seaside Grills (Dinner) and Portofino (breakfast and dinner). The food in the Restaurant are better cause we think they take more time to do it, for an example in the Buffet World Café the pancake are dry, not so good but in the Restaurant they are more fluffy, fresh smooth so delicious. It's like that for most of the food in the Restaurants compared to the Buffet World Café. The River Pool was amazing and the first week they were no seeweed in the ocean but the week after they're was a little seeweed. Although, as everything they are very quick to resolve any issues if they're is. For the seeweed, a machine was passing on the beach to get rid of it. If you are looking for tranquility, i'm not recommand this place. For us, it was ok because during the day they're a DJ playing a variety of music sometimes it was loud and sometimes not at all. It didn't bother us and the party's and shows at 9hpm was far from our section, so it was fine. It's a Hotel for couples and couple with children even in the Preference Club so be aware of this information mostly if you're looking for tranquility. Most of all it was very fun, clean, the services was perfect and it was lively with the River pool and the music during the day.

Wedding there every day and we heard all different kinds of music....great place to have a wedding......They had several wedding receptions set up around the pref club pool late afternoon/evening and it was beautiful.
