I visited Dreams Royal Beach in January 2022 and decided to come back in 2023. Visited from January 8th to 22nd, 2023 in a Preferred Club Swim-up room in the Cielo Azul building. Since I wasthe same room as last year(4168), please see previous review I posted last year.

The main reason I decided to come back is for the staff.

Food is really good, but it is not a Michelin Star restaurant and not suppose to be anyway. There is always you will like on the menus, and there so many options.

Dominican Republic is self sufficient for all agricultural and obviously seafood products, their only import is pretty much rice. So by going there, you eat what is produced in their country. They are proud of what they serve you, and in today's world, it's best for our planet to source locally. So always keep in that in mind. The best meal I had at the resort overall is at Portofino, at luch on Sundays at 1 PM, there is a Dominican lunch on the Portofino patio on Sundays that requires reservation.

Haven't tried the buffet, as I was Preferred Club and wanted to get à la carte breakfast and lunch as it is a vacation, I feel like gettting served is more relaxing. Dinner à la carte is opened to all guests, Preferred or not.

Seaside grill offers the Preferred breakfast, lunch and tapas à la carte. In the evening, dinner is opened to all, Preferred or not.

Breakfast favourite smoked salmon avocado toast. Gaspacho or Dominican soups are a must try, but all items at lunch and tapas menu. In the evening, my favourite was wings in the evening menu as a starter. I loved them so much, that I ordrred that as main, with vegetables, a salad and rice.

Staff is amazing. Special kudos to Duarte, Juan, Marcelo, (Alfredo, new manager not on photo), Luis and Cesar.

Portofino (italian) is great, Osso bucco and Calzone/pizza were my favorite, and especially the BBQ pizza that you can also get as a calzone, which was amazing.

All staff were wonderful as always, Thomas and Wilson are the best over there, but probably is because I don't recall another gentleman on patio in the evening, speaking perfect french, english and obviously Spanish. We ate on that patio juste before their Serie Final finale, on Wednesday, January 18th.

Baseball is their national sport, and I love this sport, especially when I watch it live when I can. The Serie Finale final leads to the Serie Del Caribe (Series of Caribbean, a major tournament opposing 8 coubtries). The greatest players in the world of baseball history are Dominican. Think about Guerrero(son and dad), Alou (son and dad, Moise and Felipe) and so much more. They are playing in the MLB and make the best professional salaries in the top leagues. They go play or train in Dominican Republic during winter and play professionally during summer. That night, Tigres Del Licey (representing Santo Domingo) won against Estrellas Orientales (local team, San Pedro). Vibe was great in the sports that night were I watched the game with few other clients. And obviously locals were happy about it.

I had the chance to be invited by a client the day before to see the game on Tuesday who rented a car. Vibe was amazing and had so much fun.

Hibachi is the Japanese restaurant, that offers bith à la carte and teppaniaki. Teppaniaki requires reservations. It is a nice experience and everything is very good. I have had better teppaniaki in the past, for this one food is great, worths the detour for the show more than anything, a fun experience mostly because of the chefs. We had Estefan "Seagal" on our last night, and is was amazing. Pad thai was my favourite in the à la carte section. Service is amazing on both sides, but didn't wrote down or recall any waiters name. During lunch they offer Ramen which is ok.

Beach grill has great burgers and rotisserie chicken. Very good quick day lunch or snack.

Oceana (seafood) requires long pants for men. Personal favourite seafood platter.

Yes there is a bit of seaweed and mosquitos, but that is nature not the resort and since it is natural phenomenon like the weather, I don't blame on the resort. The beach is amazing if you don't mind nature.

Weather is always warm, and when it rains it is never for that 15-20 if it rains. I haven't seen more than 2 hour of rain in the 2 times 2 weeks I have been there in the past year.

For tipping very important, I tip 1 to 2 $ USD (50 to 100 DOP) for drinks, 4-5 USD per meal (200 to 250 DOP).

Bring USD if you bring small denominations for tips, but in my first trip here I spent time everyday trying to break bills. This year I brought Dominican pesos. Not only it is easier to break down, staff like it better as it is their local currency and everything you buy with it is at least 5-10% cheaper. Staff like USD or DOP, but it still is their local currency and only in touristic areas prices are displayed as such. Unless you want to bring toms of small USD denominations from before you leave so you won't have to break them while here. Ask for
2000 DOP bills in pesos and break them at the hotel.

Since staff is the main reason I went back, here are my highlights:

Staff stars:

Coco café staff superstars Victoria, Charleni and Paola made the difference there.

Security Jose between Dreams and Secrets by Sports bar is wonderful and smiley gentleman.

Esther at Spa was a 5 star. Totally recommend.

Carlos who refills the mini bar is on the ball!

Talking about on the ball, Marcos Antonio Espiritusanto at the tennis court was amazing.

Jairo and Ambar at Preferrred Club check-in/ counter in lobby were so great. Jairo is new but hope he stays for long time. Great attitude and smile. Ambar is extremely professional.

Marcello the butler will always go above and beyond and always easy to contact. I had Roberto during Marcello's holidays and he also responded to requests very quickly. Both are excellent, but Marcello is a cut above.
Eliza Corezone in the animation team is fun, and knows how to get the party started. She takes care of the karaoke at Sports Bar from Monday to Friday 10-11 PM.

Samuel Luis at Preferred Club lounge in front is one of the greatest bartenders, and so is Francisco at the infinity pool bar. Samuel also sings wonderfully and is a guest singer in one of the shows at Secrets. Francisco will make you the best drinks. Speaking 5 languages, he is professional and so great to chat or get the party started when time fir it.

Rhadames Antonio, the Air Transat rep will respond to you in minutes at any time of the day, is very funny and provided the best service I have had in any reps I have gotten in the past.

Samuel the bellboy will always go above and beyond of any of your needs.

Shining stars:

At Interlude bar, Oniel, Euclides, Robert "De Niro" and Maximiliano are the best.

Nurkiara, Esmeralda, Drislin, Yuderte, Genesis, Yudeter are the best waitress around theater at Dreams.

Superstars:

At Veranda, Riesel and Yimy will make you amazing drinks and offer the greatest service.

Hector Carrasco, Assistant bar manager is wonderful also great to chat with, very funny and hopefully will continue climbing the management ladder at Dreams or for Hyatt.

Lucia at Sports Bar offers the most amazing service and orepares amazing mocktails that are very original.

Thanks to DRB staff, I will be back again.

**********

Security Jose between Dreams and Secrets by Sports bar es un caballero maravilloso y sonriente.

Esther en Spa era un 5 estrellas. Recomiendo totalmente

We are getting married in February at Dreams and this past weekend we came for a pre-wedding site visit and all the fun that came along with it. The experience was 10/10, everyone in the resort made our trip so wonderful and solidified our excitement for our upcoming wedding in a couple months.
Coming with my parents, there were a lot of questions, some stresses that come with an international wedding, and so on but the Dreams/Secrets staff made all worries go away. Everyone was so accommodating, sweet and understanding (with my hyper excited family) and beyond helpful making sure that our stay this weekend was wondering and planning for our wedding so painless.
Special shout out to Roberto, our butler and concierge host, who made every day seamless and easy. He was so helpful with everything and anything needed. He went above and beyond with my fiancé and I making the stay special with special deliveries of flowers and champagne. And through the weekend helped my parents with all their questions, requests, and made them feel like they were also guests of honor! We are so very excited and grateful to have Roberto be with us when we come back in February.
Another special shout out to Francina, our wedding manager, who has helped make the wedding process so easy. She was so very accommodating with my and my families questions, requests, etc. She made everyone so comfortable and excited, envisioning the upcoming wedding! She helped me plan the fun weekend, taking us through all the venues where our events will be (& accommodating our shifts), helping secure a food tasting, rooms and a bridal hair and makeup trial with the salon. All wonderful.
We can’t wait to come back in February.

Wedding review 12/1/23:
56 guests - Beyond Memorable Package
Flowers from resort:
Groom's boutonniere and bride's bouquet were included and magnificent! We brought boutonnieres for groomsmen and fathers and wrist bracelets for moms from home. Bouquets for bridesmaids were elegant and simple. They added berries in the colors to match the theme. No regrets using florist from resort -- no regrets not worrying about outside vendor. They did a great job!
Used salon for bride only. They did a great job on natural-looking makeup. Bride had her own hair extensions and eyelash extensions prior to coming. She had a simple flowing curled hairstyle. She was pleased. The rest of the bridal party did their own hair and makeup.
Beach for rehearsal dinner. The tables were great, the food was incredible (not like the buffet food at resort). Lights provided by staff were enough (nothing added). Brought some fake tea candles from Amazon and they were lovely. Our wedding planner Danilka added some leftover centerpieces for our 6 tables and it was beautiful and breezy and everyone looked incredible. Service was impeccible.
Ceremony at Royal Gazebo: we brought two flower clusters from Amazon and the drapery was provided and included. We didn't order the runner, but they provided it. It was simple elegance. We brought 6 bows with flowers from a craft store and they were put on the chairs. We were 56 people so the aisle was quite tight. Wish I would have thought to ask for them to move chairs a bit as it was difficult for 3 people to walk down the aisle together. Officiant was clear and wonderful. They provided microphone so all could hear.
Cocktail hour at Royal Gazebo: The food was pickings which was perfect for guests to eat a bit and gather and there is a private bar...especially the avocado cream cheese thingie. We had the Perico trio and it was wonderful and so festive. Did not add anything else. Used resort DJ. Honestly we provided much of what we wanted played so it was a no brainer. The MC was just ok.
Golf cart was provided for guests in shifts to go to the reception.
Reception was at Royal Ballroom. We were concerned that the room would look like a conference room but it looked amazing. Groom wanted room with AC and although it was a great temperature when we arrived --- after the party started it was quite hot.
We added the LOVE sign, and Chinese lantern balls with string lights. We also added a 16x16 white lighted dance floor. We had the Crazy Hour dancers and it was a blast. We brought light sticks from home and real tea light candles to be scattered at the table. Last minute we decided on a $60 per table centerpiece and while beautiful -- honestly, it was an unnecessary expense as no one was able to bring any of it home. Danilka added leftover petals (brought from home) to the tables. We made the table cards from home and brought them as well as seating cards. We brought our own cake topper. We made coloring books for the little guests (we had 5). The buffet was delicious -- especially the steak!
We had been switched around from Sarah to Danilka as a wedding coordinator and I can tell you that Danilka was INCREDIBLE. She was refreshing, sweet and reassuring.
We had a few blips with people being on time and delaying events and she was more patient than I was. I also want to shout out Francina -- the wedding office coordinator who helped us as well...and she gives the best hugs!
Marcelo (the man with the briefcase) was our butler and he was on top of keeping us apprised of events and goings on and making reservations for us all week for dinners. He was exceptional! His personality could light up a room. Feeling taken care of like "family" was wonderful. We never felt we were bothering him. He just smiled and wanted to help! Anyone to have him assigned as their butler will be thrilled!
We used WBA for the photos and obviously we do not have any photos to judge yet so I will get back to you all here. We were supposed to have a group photo after the ceremony but the photographer pulled the bride and groom because he was losing sunset and I actually appreciated that. We also hired the videographer because while our guests also were taking photos and videos, I'm curious to see how these all turn out. There were times I noticed that the photographer was in the wrong place to capture the photo...but I'm hoping I'm wrong about that.

A guest gifted couple with the romantic dinner on the beach which they enjoyed.

All of our guests loved the entertainment and resort. The resort is beautiful and clean. The buffet is a BUFFET (I'm never a fan but can always find something to eat). There is a griddle for omelets for breakfast. My guests said that the chicken fingers, french fries and the cheesecake were exceptional from room service. The chicken hut on the beach is the BEST CHICKEN! My guests ate more chicken this week then ever in their lifetime! Do not miss it. Loved the afternoon pizza delivery to the swim up bar. Exactly what was needed at around 4 p.m. when you're drinking at the pool.
Our guests loved the foam party! We made it part of the itinerary for Saturday so many of the guests showed up and it was fun! Typically when we travel the foam party is in the pool (WHICH IS MUCH BETTER), but this was nice for photos and for those who never experienced a foam party.
Pool bars were clean and stocked. Shout out to Albert at the swim up bar for keeping our specific drinks flowing and doing it with a smile!
Entertainment area was always packed at night. It would be nice if they had those long fans from the ceiling as it was hot some nights. Not that I'm old...but the music was WAY too loud. Some nights it was quite enjoyable even though the dancers and singers were fabulous.
The karoake/pool area was nice to hang at night and had AC.
Casino was small but good for those who enjoy such things.
Cute chess set on propery -- hammocks over pool, infinity pool and lazy river. There are always floats somewhere around and pool/beach toys. While we brought some of our own, we also used some and left everything behind for others to enjoy.
Nice beach hammocks and easy to get pool chairs or beach hut if you were up early. Afternoon -- there was always something to put your stuff on.
Staff was courteous and on top of tidying up all areas.
Service was GREAT!

Restaurants:
Italian -- the Lamb and the spring risotto are AMAZING!
Oceana: order the Surf and Turf you will not be disappointed!
Fusion: typical hibachi but there was barely a "show" from the "chef"
Seaside grill: Flank steak and salmon were delicious. Restaurant is very pretty. Open for seated breakfast for preferred guests.
Coco Cafe has dark chocolate dipped croissants which were delicious along with the gluten free cookies (believe it or not).

All in all our wedding and vacation were exceptional! I wish I stressed less during wedding planning and believed some of the people here that said that everything falls into place when you get there.

Used our US credit card for all expenses so I racked up many many miles for my next trip!
Tips were given in US dollars...no worry about getting pesos! Tip everyone! They work hard and appreciate it.
Some of us even sneaked into Secrets during the day and it was fun!

So, thank you Dreams for making my kids wedding magical. Danilka, Francina, Marcelo and Albert made our family/friends vacation of 56 people so memorable and easy!
