Kevin Bacon has revealed he once hired a make-up artist to disguise him in public - but he hated not being recognized.

The Footloose star, 65, who has been a top Hollywood star for 40 years, said he wanted a taste of being a regular member of the public - but quickly realized he disliked not getting special attention from his fans.

He told Vanity Fair : 'I’m not complaining, but I have a face that’s pretty recognizable. Putting my hat and glasses on is only going to work to a certain extent.

'I went to a special effects makeup artist, had consultations, and asked him to make me a prosthetic disguise' before testing his new disguise at Los Angeles mall, The Grove.

The star - worth an estimated $45million - said: 'Nobody recognized me, People were kind of pushing past me, not being nice. Nobody said, ‘I love you.’ I had to wait in line to, I don’t know, buy a f*****g coffee or whatever. I was like, "This sucks. I want to go back to being famous.”'
