In one of Shifty Shellshock's final interviews he talked about his sobriety.

Before the late Crazy Town star (born Seth Brooks Binzer) died of a drug overdose at age 49, he opened up about making it through some of the 'darkest places' amid his addiction battle in an interview recently resurfaced by TMZ.

'I'm feeling sober. I'm feeling good, sober, happy,' he told Mayra Dias Gomes at a Rock to Recovery benefit concert last August in Hollywood.

'I think music has kept me alive. I think it always is the light — that and my children — that inspires me to live. Music has always been my therapy. It's helped me get through everything.'

He shared sons Halo, Gage and Phoenix with exes Melissa Clark, Tracy Shelor and Jasmine Lennard.

Binzer added, ‘Recovering addicts, they've been there. They've been to the darkest places and made it back. So, we always have good content.'

Last Monday, Binzer was found dead on the floor of his Los Angeles home, and police believe he was dead for more than 24 hours before.

After a lighter and drug paraphernalia were found near Binzer's body, his death was being investigated as an overdose.

Manager Howie Hubberman told People that the cause of death was ruled an overdose of ‘a combination of prescription drugs and street purchased drugs.’

Binzer had recently declared himself sober following three years of substance abuse struggles.

He wrote on Instagram: 'I'm a lover than a fighter… but the one I need to love more Instead of fight with is myself.. Mr. Shifty true Love # Sober alive and grateful (sic)'

The 'Butterfly’ artist struggled with drug addiction for many years, and was hospitalized in 2012 after losing consciousness and slipping into a coma.

Binzer appeared on the VH1 reality show Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew and the spin-off Sober House.

In his cryptic final social media post, Binzer showed his appreciation for 'the ones who stay even when I try my hardest to scare them away.'

He shared the caption with a photo of someone dressed in all black, standing in a crowd of people clad in only white. 'Real is rare, fake is everywhere,' text on the image read.

Binzer's ex Soleil Moon Frye previously paid tribute to him in a heartfelt statement last weekend.
