Sunrise broadcaster slammed as she says Justin Timberlake 'needs a little Jessica Biel in his life' so he will stop drinking after DWI charge: 'This is a grown adult man'

US broadcaster Cooper Lawrence came under fire on Wednesday morning when she suggested Justin Timberlake needed wife Jessica Biel to help him stop drinking.

The American radio personality appeared on Sunrise to reveal details of the hitmaker's arrest this week which saw him charged with DWI (driving while intoxicated).

But some viewers took exception to Cooper suggesting the actor, 43, just 'needs a little Jessica Biel in his life', referencing Justin's wife who has reportedly been forced to 'babysit' him and keep him out of trouble during his boozy nights out in the past.

'He has admitted to drinking and doing a drug or two once in a while,' Cooper told Sunrise hosts Monique Wright and Matt 'Shirvo' Shirvington.

'He said it's Jessica Biel that really made him incredibly sober and healthy. So maybe he needs a little more Jessica Biel in his life.'

'She's busy shooting something in New York City. She's shooting a TV series, so she needs to get back to her husband,' Cooper added.

Some viewers took to Facebook to express their distaste over Cooper's comments, with one person claiming the multiple Gracie Award winner was blaming a woman for a man's mistakes.

'The worst part about this is that on Sunrise this morning they blamed Jessica Biel on his [DWI], saying that maybe he needs some Jessica in his life and then he would stop drinking and doing drugs,' the disgruntled user wrote.

'This is a grown adult man and women are still being blamed for their mistakes.'

Daily Mail Australia has reached out to Cooper for comment.

Justin and Jessica, 42, have been married for 12 years and share sons Silas, nine, and Phineas, three.

The 7th Heaven star is currently on location in New York City filming for her upcoming series The Better Sister.

A bleary-eyed Justin was seen emerging from the Hamptons police station where he spent the night on Monday for driving while intoxicated in exclusive images obtained by DailyMail.com.

The popstar was seen being led across the bridge from Sag Harbor police headquarters to the villages Justice Court on Tuesday by police officers in Long Island, New York.

Justin appeared shell-shocked as he looked straight ahead while being led out of the building by officers.

After a brief arraignment where he was banned from driving for a year in the state of New York, he was released without bail. The singer emerged from court wearing a baseball cap.

Justin had been drinking with friends at The American Hotel bar in Sag Harbor on Monday night when he decided to get behind the wheel of his BMW X7 shortly before 12.30am.

One witness told The New York Post that Justin had been 'wasted' before the bust and was even seen drinking someone else's drink from another table.

A police report obtained by DailyMail.com says the 'Sexy Back' singer was pulled over after he blew past a stop sign after leaving the restaurant.

Officers said in their report that they witnessed the pop star veering across the road before they intervened, and described finding him 'in an intoxicated condition'.

Police described Justin as having 'bloodshot and glassy' eyes, smelling strongly of alcohol, having slowed speech and unable to maintain his attention.

The father-of-two was also said to have been unsteady on his feet and 'performed poorly' on a field sobriety test, which he ultimately failed. After being arrested and taken to a local police station, he also refused to take a breathalyser test.

Justin was arraigned on one count of DWI, as well as running a stop sign and failing to stay in his lane. He is next in court on July 26 after being released without bail.

For refusing the breathalyser test, Justin had his driving privileges in the state of New York suspended.
