Okay for a few nights if you’re not spending much time there. Sheets and towels were clean, but not a great smell and run down overall with old furniture. The room was not cleaned when we weren’t there.

We definitely enjoyed our stay at the Days Inn in Great Lakes. The lobby had a pleasant scent and was inviting. the front desk was very pleasant and helpful with all of our questions. the rooms were very nice and cozy. The best part is that they are just 1 mile from the base which allowed us to spend more time with our son who graduated from the Great Lakes Naval Base. We highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area.

A few days before my stay I called and reserved 1 room, with 2 queen beds. I chose this hotel because it was the closest to the base where I was going to see my wife graduate from recruit training. After driving for 13 hours, we arrived at the hotel at around 9 PM with 3 people waiting to get checked in. After the first group got their keys, they left and the next person in line began checking in. About a minute later the couple came back and interrupted the clerk and next customer complaining that it was not a room with 2 queens and he gave them another room on the spot. After they left satisfied, another clerk walked in and began checking me in. After telling him my name, he sighed and looked to the other clerk. He stated that he had just given my room away. He then offered me a room with a king size and hot tub and I stated that I needed 2 beds because it was me, my son, and his godfather. So he offered a second room which was on the second floor and at the other end of the hotel. I went ahead and accepted as the price was not different. Got the keys and went to the first room to unpack. My buddy helped us and we went to help him unpack in his room. As soon as we got up the stairs we were struck with the strong odor of pot. When we got to his room he unpacked and we decided to go to bed so my son and I went back to our room. We watched some TV and I got a text a few minutes later from my friend. He only had the basic channels and could smell the pot easily. I told him just to come back and we'd share my room but he didn't want to share a bed with us. When we left in the morning we decided to take all of our stuff with us and returned to see that everything was good, housekeeping cleaned the rooms and everything. We stayed until Monday morning and I had to ask for towels because housekeeping decided not to give us anymore on Sunday. They came about an hour later. Then Sunday night, when my friend went up to his room, it looked completely destroyed. He texted me pictures, saying it looked like housekeeping had sex and left. Sheets were all over the bed, a single pillow was sitting in the middle and the blankets were balled up in the chair.
Overall, the stay there was horrible. I'll never stay there and I would recommend that no one else stay either. I really like the clerk that helped me the first night but the other guy looked and acted way too stressed, making me slightly scared he could snap at any moment. Oh and the pot smell lingered on for about 2 days. Nothing was done about it.

We were a little nervous about making reservations here because of some reviews but the price and location seemed perfect so we went for it. We are so glad we did. The people were very nice, our rooms were very clean, and the breakfast was great!!Also the location was perfect and you did not have to make a U turn on 41 all you have to do is go left out the side road entrance and this takes you out to 137 which is the road the Naval Base is on.

this is the first hotel that I ever stayed in where prepayment was required at the beginning of the stay. I had to go to the front desk each day for towels because we either were not given any or not given enough for the number of guests in the room. The wastebaskets had no trash bags in them. The first clerk I spoke with upon arrival wasn't very nice. I locked my iPhone to put it in my purse and she accused me of taking a picture of her. Upon checkout, she never uttered a wordnofnthanks or anything to me. She was busy on the phone and just handed me the receipt. This was the worst hotel experience I've ever had.

The main light switch didn't work, clock was broken, shower screeched when being used, toilet ran and dribbled constantly, there was long black hair all over the clean towels, the room was not cleaned once the three days I was there, coffee cups were not replaced, coffee pot left dirty every day, the place was dirty and poorly maintained, Freight trains ran close by all night... do not stay here. They prey on families who are desperate to stay close to their graduating Navy recruits. They know they have a guaranteed full house every time the Navy Basic Training graduates a class. DO NOT STAY HERE!

They advertise Free HBO and high speed internet. The Fact of the matter is they do not have HBO, the wireless internet also doesn't exist. Their continental breakfast consists of a spars array of Dunkin Donuts and dry cereal. The worst part of their stay is the staff. The staff is rude all around, and the owners, I found it Ironic that they are in the hospitality industry, since they are very unhospitable people. The icing on this cake is the Crime!!!!! There were two drug busts on the weekend that I stayed. One Heroine and cocaine bust the other crystal meth. CRACK!! This is not a safe place decent, God fearing people to stay.

We recently came to Lake Bluff for our daughter’s Boot Camp Graduation on January 19, 2018. We chose your location as it was advertised to be closest to the Naval Station. We had never stayed in a Days Inn but thought they are a national chain with a reputable name and felt comfortable with our decision.
To our dismay, we were EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED. The room initially presented well, in spite of the age of the location. The first morning we went for the “continental breakfast” and were shocked at the poor quality. Mainly, the coffee was not drinkable. The milk was not cold. After that morning, we paid for our own breakfast. The second day after being out all day at the graduation, we returned to our room and housekeeping had not been there. When we went to the front desk, their list showed Housekeeping checked off as to have cleaned our room. This happened on the 3rd and the 4th day. We were extremely disappointed that we did not receive clean towels nor was the trash removed. It was terribly frustrating and disappointing. In addition, our card key to the room, inactivated almost every day. We did what we were told to do by keeping the card in the folder to no avail. In all the years we have travelled, this has never happened to us. If it had just been one time we could excuse this. But it happened the entire time of our stay. Again, the front desk employees were helpful but this was terribly frustrating after a long day out.
We are on the sites for Navy families and plan to let the potential families know NOT to stay at your location. Once we arrived, we had heard from other families that they had heard negative comments about this location as well. We do not want any families coming to celebrate such a monumental event to have such a negative experience with their lodging. We will also be posting our comments on Yelp. This was the worst experience we ever had with a hotel. It was overpriced for what we received and poorly misrepresented!
In the end, we had to rent a car which was one of the reasons why stayed at your location. We had read free shuttle service but that was below standard as people were kept waiting when anxious to get to the event. We are very disappointed and hope that there are plans for upgrades in addition to a more reliable cleaning staff that lied about cleaning our room for several days.
Our daughter is now stationed at Great Lakes for some time. We will NEVER entertain the idea of staying at your location when he come to visit her, and will make sure to let anyone and everyone know what a horrible experience we had.
We hope you have plans for improving your housekeeping staff, in addition to improving the quality of your breakfast and overall look of the motel. The room cost was overpriced for what you got. There are plenty of other motels in the area comparable and much higher in quality.
Thank you.

The lady at the front check as great checking us into our room. Room #227 was ok. Having the bathroom sink right at the main door was very inconvenient. The tube was leaking and the plug was laying on the ground of the tube. They knew we had 3 people in the room but we still had to call for more towels. On our second day there was no back up toilet paper and we almost ran out. On our second day there was no cups. We felt that the maid just made the bed and didn't bother to clean the rest of the room. The ice bucket was fill with old warm warm that was ice when we got back to the hotel. We tipped the maid $5.00 as we always do. They didn't have a problem taking the money but didn't leave us a clean room. We are not the type to complaint or report anything unless we are ask to. The breakfast was ok.

I did not book this hotel expecting a 4 or 5 star experience, I read the reviews. We were there for our son's graduation from Navy Boot Camp. That being said, Our room was a King with a roll-away and it was clean. It was cleaned daily and restocked. We checked into a very quiet hotel on Tuesday. Thursday the hotel was packed with other Navy families!!! Karen and Anthony handled the masses with good humor and grace when confronted with those who would complain. Two days I had to ask for towels as the hotel was simply overwhelmed and had to throw many away due to guests staining them with paint or hair color! They were always ready to accommodate the request and never made me feel like I was putting them out! The location was perfect for what we wanted and they had all the information for the graduation posted including the shuttle service. The breakfast is free, but minimal, however the Blue Moon across the street offers great breakfasts at really reasonable prices. We took the train from the local Metra Station into Chicago for $28 roundtrip for 3 of us (the 11 year old rode free) and another time for $8 a piece for a weekend pass... can't beat the one hour ride!
Is this a fancy hotel? No. But our room was clean, the bed was comfortable and the folks who worked there were professional and kind.
