Travelodge Barcelona Poblenou receives a mix of feedback, with its convenient location being a highlight for easy beach and public transport access. However, guests have called out the basic nature of rooms, and some have faced issues with cleanliness and amenities like air conditioning. While the atmosphere is often described as modern, noise can be an issue due to thin walls.
Opinions on service quality vary, ranging from friendly to unresponsive. With additional fees for services like WiFi, some travelers question the value compared to budget accommodations.

Detailed Reviews
Booked as per the website promising check in from 10am if booked via their website. Arrived to be told no and that the website does not state we could check in from 10am. Told us to come back later but did allow us to leave our luggage. Arrived back 3 hours later to be told cant do anything until 15:00pm of which at this time I asked to speak with a manager, showed Samantha the website confirming I was not lying and then after a further half an hour we were offered a room but then had to pay 26 euros tax?? Asked why when we booked online and was told this was process, advised I would need to email to complain if I was not happy. Anyway 8th floor and looking outside was a cage like barrier so felt like a prison! Building work going on every morning from 7-8am which we should have been made aware of. No storage and apart from 2 towels, no other bathroom amenities. I have seen reviews with replies from the hotel stating they should have contacted reception, I can confirm I did 3 times with no resolution. I have also emailed now back home on the tax issue and my email address has been blocked.

We stayed in this hotel at the start of October for our trip to Barcelona. It was easy to get to via bus B20/25. The room was really basic but clean. Construction work woke us every morning with no sign of warning from the hotel as would have rathered a room away from the noise. No good If we wanted a lie in. We overheard other guests complaining but no other room could be provided therefore never raised an issue. Of a morning housekeeping tended to shout up and down corridors while guests were still sleeping. The drains in the bathroom were clogged in both the sink and shower so the water took ages to go down when brushing teeth/showering etc. Only one hand towel was provided. Bath towels quite small however they were changed each day. The beds were made up and room was cleaned each day also. No safe or hairdryer in the room so had to pay 10 euro to get one but got this back at the end of our stay. Bed was comfy and good pillows. Wouldn't stay here again as for €140 a night I thought it was a bit pricey for what you got.

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveller reviews.
The hotel is busy, crowded, and feels like a dorm or tourist factory rather than family hotel by the beach. The beach - and many restaurants are close by - very nice. But tourist attractions are a $10 taxi ride away or a bus+train ride away. The place is not well maintained, but the rooms are spacious. If you have other options at that price point, go elsewhere. Value for money is poor.

We stayed at the hotel in October and it was a very pleasant experience. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Christian at the check-in desk made sure everything is smooth and quick.
The location of the hotel is great, close to 2 metro stations, and in general, it was easy to get around the city by public transport.
The neighborhood was also lovely and has several great places to eat.

We stayed here for a stop over on our travels. The carpark underneath is tight if you have a bigger car like us so be warned. Check in was easy however our room was not set up for the 4 of us so we sorted it ourselves. Breakfast was ok… nothing special but we managed to find something: the biggest pain was the lift situation! There is 2 lifts for 900 rooms, which makes breakfast/check out times stressful especially when only 1 out of the 2 goes to the carpark.

Thank you very much for your review Sez. It was a pleasure to have you in our hotel. We would like to inform you that our establishment has 3 lifts (2 inside and one outside) for a total of 250 rooms. So the fluidity when moving around the different floors is perfectly correct. Do not doubt that we take good note of the rest of your indications to continue improving every day in our customer service as it is our raison d'être. We hope to see you again soon. We paid for two nights at this hotel, we were told there was parking available, when we arrived our camper van was too high, we were not informed of a height restriction. We drove all around the city and couldn't find parking. We asked the hotel for a refund or a transfer to another hotel and were told we would have to pay again, we then requested a transfer for the second night and were refused. The girl on the counter said it happens all the time and there's nothing she can do. We were left with no hotel and no refund driving around late at night looking for somewhere to sleep

If you are expecting this to be the same as a Travelodge as the same as the UK, then think again! The rooms are as basic as it gets, and not exactly cheap. When I booked it I chose the option for WiFi and breakfast, but was informed on arrival that neither was included, but that's probably down to booking.com.That said, it is spotlessly clean, friendly staff, close to numerous supermarkets and places to eat and not too far from the beach ( which even in December, was still nice and reasonably warm - considering there was snow on the ground when we flew out). The walk to the underground isn't too far, and in all honesty I have to say that Barcelona has the best public transport system that I have ever experienced. However, I'm not sure if this is just a Barcelona thing, or Spain in general (as I've never experienced it in the balierics or Canary Islands), but don't expect people to allow you to get off the train, tube or bus before they push past you to get on. I know this is more about Barcelona rather than the Travelodge, so I apologise, but overall it's definitely worth a stay.

Dear Customer, Thank you very much for your opinion. We are glad that you had a pleasant stay with us. As Travelodge comments, WIFI is free in common areas. WIFI is paid in the rooms, but this information is public and is detailed in all our communications, including the Booking.com platform, where all the conditions are informed so that throughout the reservation and subsequent stay the client does not have no confusion. Indeed, Wi-Fi is free in the rooms as long as you make reservations directly with us (www.travelodge.es or our reservation center 912648245). We are glad to know that you liked the location and that you enjoyed a comfortable stay. We hope to see you again in any of our 6 hotels on your future trips. All the best,

I loved the experience, everyone was very kind to me, especially Esther at the reception and Rosa at the Bar, they treated me like I was family. The comfort and cleanliness of the room is impeccable and the breakfast is very good.
The location is ideal as it is very well connected to public transport and you can easily reach practically all places of interest.

In particular, I had a fantastic experience chatting with Christian at the front desk. Not only did he provide plenty of helpful tips and suggestions for great local restaurants and cafes to check out, but he also had a genuine enthusiasm for the city and its culture that really helped.
Thanks!

Our floor been hell of a noisey place to stay as there been staying loads & loads of young folks in their late teens. Having booked most of the rooms on second floor they were just too annoying, disrespectful, knocking at others doors whenever they liked. Complained to hotel managment at multiple ocassions but they cared only once to come up to my floor & had a word with trouble creators. It was so annoying staying, sleeping with that level of nausance. Mattress been as rubish as i ever came across, got neck & backache in just first 2 days. Rooms too average for the price. Had to request a kettle to make tea as none was in the room. No proper mugs as been provided with paper cups n had to wash them for next use. No sockets on both sides of bed. Simply putting, this Travelodge way less in quality & comfort as those you find in the UK.
