Quite a while since we had used the L'Illa on our Barcelona trips; we were reluctant as the front desk staff could not be more unpleasant and unhelpful!
What a wonderful change to be so warmly and pleasantly greeted by a smart, polite and helpful reception.
Rooms improved and well appointed now, excellent walk-in shower. Clean and tidy, good maid service.
Enjoyable stay, highly recommended.
(Maybe the soap quality could be improved!)

Please note, I love Spain, Barcelona, sunny weather, beautiful hotels, great shopping and fine dining!
So by opting to stay at the AC Hotel by Marriott Diagonal L’Ill, I had it all when I stayed here! This hotel is next door to a beautiful little park. While I was there, during the middle of March, the cherry tree were in full bloom, it was beautiful!
I enjoyed chatting with the front desk staff members who provided answers to my many questions! Thank you to Uxia, Andres, Isivelis, Ana and Claudia, I certainly appreciate your help, advice and kindness.
The location and the convenience of this hotel is perfect. The hotel is directly adjacent to one of the most amazing shopping centers I have ever visited. I could go on about it but, the best thing would be for you to check it out yourself.
Also, be sure to try the AC Lounge on the second floor. The breakfast is an excellent way to start your day. And a big thank you to Venus and Ajay, you both do a fantastic job of keeping the buffet looking good!

This hotel is terrific. Period. Mostly for business, as you’re not AT the tourist centers, but you’re a quick tram, bus, taxi or walk from everywhere.
Service is friendly. The rooms are enormous and modern. Bathrooms are new and spotless. WiFi is great. The hotel is above a mall so everything you need is within reach. Outstanding.

We stayed here for one night between our cruise ending and our flight home. When we arrived at the Barcelona airport my husband realized he lost his wedding ring, and my son left his monogrammed water bottle on a table in the lobby. I messaged the hotel through the Marriott App and they responded immediately they would be on the lookout for both. 10 days later both arrived via post to our home back in the states. I truly appreciate everyone’s assistance finding and returning our forgotten and lost item.

We were checked in by Isivelis and what a great representative of the property. Cheerful, helpful and really made our stay great. She also suggested to take the bus to get around and she was right. The bus system is easy, on time, clean and affordable. The rooms were very nice and buffet on 2nd floor was very nice. Shout out to Venus and AJ who do their job efficiently and with great service.

Three night stay before a cruise. Exceptional hotel in a very nice area. Very helpful front desk staff especially Ania. Had breakfast on morning and dinner one evening. Food was first rate and reasonably priced. The only negative was the tv variety had only BBC news in English.

This is a very nice modern hotel. Great location next to a mall for many food choices, but a little far from inner city attractions. The room was large and clean. Breakfast was quite good with many options and helpful staff. We would visit here again.

This hotel has a great location. Right smack in Diagonal where there are lots of shops and restaurants to enjoy and choose from.
Big plus are their courteous, pleasant and helpful staff. From the reception all the way to the housekeeping.
Don’t mind staying here again.

While checking out of the hotel I left my IPad in the room. Once I realized I had forgotten it I called the hotel from the Airport. I asked that they ship it to one of the upcoming hotels on my Spain trip and I would pay for this. I was told that they do not provide that service. Once arriving at my next destination, (another AC property in Seville) I asked the front desk for their help. They made several attempts to get the AC Diagonal to help with no success. After which they made the arrangements to have it picked up and shipped. Thank You AC Ciudad de Sevilla! Poorly done AC Diagonal! You need to learn from AC Ciudad what true customer service is!

Great budget hotel on the main transportation artery.
I was very worried about our room facing it,even agreed with the reception girl that if I can't sleep;they'll put us into a different room .I am a very light sleeper( to the point that I seldom sleep in hotels when we travel,look at my reviews,LOL).
But they have some magic with the windows.You do not hear traffic.Yes, I did hear several times crazy bikes at crazy speed late, but that was a rare exception.
So that was the first and biggest plus.Second one- room is huge by European standards.Brits probably could fit 3 double rooms in the same space.
Room has everything a traveler need:super comfortable bed with great pillows;n espresso machine for my husband;they brought a tea kettle for me;tiny fridge for goodies from the market;LOTS of storage space;spacious bathroom.
Some people complain about the floors-really?how clean do you think carpet flooring is in most American hotels?
I saw a review where somebody complains about 600 price -so is it per 1 night?
Then you answer yourself-" We could not find another hotel since everything was full".My guess- there was a special even in Barcelona to drive prices so high.I paid points-25000 is very reasonable for the quality.
Here comes a little negative-no upgrade, no matter if you both have Marriott status, no breakfast included.If you pay at check in-15$, but you need to pay for all nights;if you pay later-$22. Absolutely ridiculous. We would miss breakfast for 2 mornings,as we had tours early and they 'd open 7:30 during holidays( lunch box was offered, but it's even more ridiculous for this price).It just sounded so unfair- either now and all the nights-or ...
After the first day I knew we made right decision.In the mall there are all kind of eateries.My husband had a lunch there once for $12 and choices are great.
I found a natural foods store and bought healthy snacks there and a bakery with a long line of local- as expected, bread was yumm.
So do not sign up for standard hotel fare - go explore local variety,it's right next door!
As for more positives- the staff is really nice.My husband would ask for a coffee refill every day and most of the time could get his favorite variety .They give you paper cups for coffee, which was not convenient for us-coffee/tea drinkers, so I just got real cups from the restaurant for duration.When we bought a bottle of wine on our tour and my husband went there to get help opening it,bartender opened it and gave him real wine glasses.Small detail, but nice.
They all cared that you have a pleasant stay.
My personal preference- we didn't have our room cleaned for all 6 nights( this is my personal space for duration);but they practically insisted on taking trash and changing towels several times.
Like saying goes-"home away from home".
Barcelona being so busy, noisy ,overwhelmed by tourists-I don't think I would want to stay closer to tourist attractions.Location was perfect to rest after being a tourist all day.
If you happen to be there for Easter-remember, not much is open for two days.But we found a cute Italian restaurant right behind the hotel( but this is another review)
