New four-star hotel located in the heart of Barcelona, in the Gothic neighborhood of the city, between the shopping area Portal de l'Angel and Via Laietana and a few meters from Las Ramblas, Plaça Catalunya and the Cathedral. Its location allows the customer to visit the most important tourist attractions of the city and discover the commercial contrast between the most popular shops and the more luxurious. A hotel with a Gothic quarter flavour. On a street that is part of the Roman Barcelona where many remains are still undiscovered. The hotel protects and exhibits inside, three parts of the Roman aqueduct that customers can see at the reception. Carefully decorated, the hotel seeks comfort in a stylish and cosmopolitan atmosphere. Amid the hustle of the city, the customer can choose to relax in the hotel spa with hamam and massages or enjoy the views of the city center on the magnificent terrace at the top of the building with a glazed swimming pool, solarium and snack bar in summer. The hotel also offers fitness. Complete and varied breakfast buffet with show cooking, hall bar and terrace bar open during the summer months. Internet corner and free Wi-Fi around the hotel. 61 practical and comfortable rooms with all amenities.

Great location in the Gothic quarter. Very clean, well serviced rooms (with one small exception mentioned later). Excellent breakfast with all the hot and cold options anyone could reasonably ask for. Eggs cooked to order, smoked salmon, cheeses, meats, cereals, fresh fruit , yoghurts etc etc. Only small point is one coffee making machine which took an age and gave only average coffee. My wife took the Cava on occasion!
Reception fine, although €450 taken prior to arrival on my credit card which I had used to secure the booking. I wanted to pay via debit card for everything and avoid money transfer fees.
Water in reception which however disappeared at night, which is when we wanted it, to dilute the alcohol intake, so not sure why this happened.
Main issue with the room was that both the shower and the toilet were housed in opaque glass. Not really an embarrassment issue for me and my wife, but if going to the toilet in the night, the whole room was lit up, not just the loo.
Pool on roof fine, but water still very cold in 28degree heat. The entire rooftop bar only served drinks in plastic, which was for me really off-putting, and so not used much. A lot of this was well away from the actual pool, and we have been to two Spanish hotels in Malaga and Alicanti this year where this was not the case. Also not nibbles provided with the drinks.
It seems this is prevalent in Barcelona as a whole, unlike most of the rest of Spain. We paid just over €360 per night for a 7 night stay. A little to expensive for what we got. Still very good.
Oh the housekeeping issue was the fact that there was a small leak from under the shower onto the bathroom area. We did not report it as it was obvious we thought to anyone servicing the room.

We would still potentially stay again if visiting Barcelona, just be aware of the small points mentioned

We loved our stay at the Catalonia Magdalenes and hope to return in the not too distant future!

The hotel is located in the Gothic Quater, and is within walking distance from the metro and several must see landmarks. The Kiss of Freedom is literally just around the corner, as well as Las Ramblas, and one of the oldest markets, La Boqueria. There is just too much to see, or mention.

The hospitality team is warm, attentive and beyond helpful. Sergi gave us a map of the city with many great attraction recommendations. He is simply amazing! Each time we left and re-entered the hotel the team greeted us warmly.

Our room had a modern feel and offered so many amenities. It was airconditioned, and the curtains fully block out light (this is great if you are in need of recovering from jet lag, or simply want to sleep in).

The rooftop lounge offers a beautiful view, an infinity pool and cabanas. The service offered by Silverio was phenomenal, which is why we went every night. We loved chatting with him and learning more about Barcelona, and added landmarks that are a must see. We never had an empty glass.

On our last night Adam recommended one of his favourite tapas restaurants which we highly, highly recommend for an authentic tapas experience.

We added breakfast to our accommodation and we were very pleased with the selection offered. It gave us just what we needed for a jam-packed day of sight seeing!

Ten out of ten for this hotel and the hospitality team!

Thank you very much for this amazing comment Gerhard. Comments like this are what motivate the entire team and serve as a reward after all the effort to ensure that the facilities are in perfect condition and that the service is as close and personalized as possible. We are pleased to know that our rooms are modern and well equipped with the best amenities to provide the greatest possible comfort. Knowing that our breakfasts, in which we offer local and high-quality products, is one of the hotel's strongest points, along with our terrace, is something that makes us very happy. We also want to thank you for your words about our staff, especially the service offered by Silverio, Adam and Sergi who, like the rest of the team, work with passion and dedication to provide a unique and personalized service. Again, thank you very much for your words, and we hope to welcome you again soon!

Perfect location in the center of Barcelona, clean, spacious rooms, nicely decorated, with excellent service both At reception and breakfast. A big comfortable bed. Good choice for breakfast with fresh omelette prepared on the spot. We loved everything about this hotel and this is why we decided to stay two more nights on our way back from Valencia. Also, I liked that for room service they offer sushi and not the classic frozen pizza and fries generally included in other hotels menus. We have two small kids and sometimes is difficult for us to go outside for dinner and sushi was a very good option for both us and our daughter. I recommend this hotel and we will stay here for sure on our next visit to Barcelona.

we spent four nights in the right spot of Bari Gotic borough, which is the old center of Barcelona.
the Catalonia Magdalenes Hotel is conveniently close to all means of transportation - airport bus included.
we liked the nice overal interior design, the clean room, with a comfortable bed and high quality sheets, the shower and bathroom amenities.
it's worth mentioning that the outdoor small pool and the bar, situated on the top terrace, with a nice view towards the cathedral's spire, offered us the opportunity to cool down at anytime and was a plus.
the breakfast was not extremely divers but tasty and of quality, served untill 12 pm. we found a well assortment of beverages in the minibar, as well as a water heater for brewing tea and a nespresso coffee maker.
the staff and the general manager were helpful and always smiling. one big thank you to all.

My husband and I stayed here recently (twice) with another couple and were very happy with the experience. We booked double superior rooms and they were quite comfortable with room for a small sofa as well as a desk area. Bathroom was a reasonable size and I really appreciated the lit makeup mirror. If I had one quibble it would be with the frosted glass bathroom door that couldn’t close tightly due to the material.

The breakfast was very good with plentiful options including a cook making eggs, omelets or pancakes fresh on demand, in addition to the fruits, meats, cheeses, pastries, cereals, breads etc. on the buffet.

We enjoyed the lovely rooftop pool and bar area.

Front desk was very helpful in getting us taxis when needed, with one bellman even running to a Main Street a block away to grab a taxi when our ordered one was late for a scheduled pickup…truly exceptional service!

Topping off our experience was the location. It felt immersive being on a quaint and relatively quiet street in the Gothic Quarter, but we also had the advantage of being only a short walk away from the action on La Rambla or the Catedral plaza.

We stayed here for 5 nights and had the best experience. Incredible location in the Gothic quarter, close to everything but located on a quiet street away from the crowds. Rooms were very comfortable and have every amenity you could want. Room temp controls worked well which we found is an anomaly in Europe (usually very warm rooms). We had the breakfast every day and it was wonderful - lots of variety, never got tired of it after 5 days. Best part about this hotel is the staff. Everyone at the front desk were so accommodating. My husband celebrated his 50th birthday here and they arranged for a bottle of champagne for our room. Adam the bellman/Porter is a true standout! Always so helpful with whatever we needed. Also very affordable rooms for the dates we stayed. Not sure why we got such a good price but we felt like we won the lottery! Absolutely recommend.

Super friendly staff from the attentive Manager to the amazing doorman and reception lady. We arrived very early and they let us have a shower and stored our bags so we could go exploring the city. Perfectly located for discovering the city’s attractions. Complimentary drink at the bar and free use of the Spa area is such a BIG plus for us. Loved this hotel and wouldn’t stay anywhere else when returning to Barcelona. Highly recommended

Stayed here for two nights. The superior rooms are spacious and the beds are extremely comfortable. The staff are friendly, the spa was bliss. The hotel itself is in a great location and is clean and modern. The breakfast was good but could do with more hot food options like baked beans, scrambled eggs, hash browns and bacon. Rooms could be a little more soundproof. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel, especially compared to other 4 star hotels in Barcelona.

First time visiting this city and this hotel was just perfect for us. We had breakfast included and the variety was amazing, quality of food too was great.

Location of hotel was ideal for us just around the corner from so many main attractions, easy to navigate with the maps they provided at reception upon arrival too. Receptionists and other staff at hotel were all super friendly, we had great advice from Sergi regarding our trip to Camp Nou and appreciated it greatly.

We will be looking forward to coming back and staying here again for sure

Loved this hotel. The room was immaculate, really comfortable, well decorated and peaceful. Our room had a small balcony overlooking a side street as well as a window opening into the atrium which made the room light and airy. Great hot and powerful shower.

The breakfast was incredible - everything you could hope for as well as fresh pancakes, waffles & omelettes cooked on request. The staff were all friendly and helpful.

I’m the end we didn’t use it, but the roof terrace seemed nice. The pool is small but plenty of seats around it and a great bar, so sure it would be great for a quick dip if you wanted.

It was a great base to explore Barcelona with plenty of restaurants, bars, cafes and shops nearby. We walked to all attractions (we did do a lot of walking) but there are metro and railway stations very close to the hotel if you want to use these. We used this network to get the train back to the airport at the end of our stay.

About 45 euros, 1.5km about 20 minutes walk. As for best beach, not the nearest as we thought is was dirty and full of hawkers. Not a patch on Malaga or Alicante.
