We have left the hotel wanting to return. We are delighted with the service of all the staff. The waiters, the housekeeping girls and the reception staff, especially the young star Serrgi who was in everything, remembered any detail, UNIQUE. The facilities were all perfect and the hotel smelled great. The SPA was the best place to rest and the terrace to have fun. Looking forward to seeing you all again!

Since all of these work together and with excellent communication in order to provide excellent service to all our guests. It is true that our SPA and our terrace are 2 unique services that help our guests relax for a few hours. What is important for a hotel for me - service/staff, great bed, good shower, fabulous location near sites/restaurants/nightlife/shopping but quiet, good breakfast options! Hotel Catalonia Magdalenes has all of that. The staff was plentiful and always kind and helpful with suggestions, directions, or ordering a taxi. The bed was great! The room while small is well equipped, clean, and comfy. Maid service was good, bringing a liter of free bottled water daily. Quiet with sun blocking shades if you want a mid-day nap. The hotel is right in the gothic quarter so is close to great tapas, coffees, gelato, and bakeries. Lots of cute boutiques and stores. It is 3 minutes walk to a cathedral that has great buskers for daily entertainment. La Ramblas avenue for pedestrian traffic, restaurants, and stores is just a street away. The breakfast was fabulous - freshly made eggs and omelets to order, everything else you could possibly think of was on the beautiful buffet. Refilled often. It was an added bonus! We will be back.

We highly recommend this boutique hotel located in the Barrio Gothic of Barcelona because its location is convenient to all that you'd like to see in the city. It is on a side street and therefore quiet. It is very clean, furnished in a contemporary manner, the staff is young, enthusiastic and helpful, the breakfast is plentiful and tasty. The AC works wellwhich is certainly a plus when the weather is warm.The hotel has a commitment to the environment. Although there is a rooftop pool, don't expect to swim because it is postage sized.

This hotel is an easy 5-10 minute walking distance to many restaurants and the main shopping area. The hotel is very comfortable and clean. All the staff is excellent plus. always willing to help you and suggest the best places to help you. The bellman "Aron" was 10 on his service and many very good suggestions. Make sure you also book the breakfast, a great selection and variety of food to start off your day. A real treat is the the "top floor roof terrace" with a pool and bar, a great way to relax and enjoy a drink or two. If you are looking for an excellent hotel to stay, you will not be disappointed when you are in Barcelona.

We have just returned from a pleasant 4 night stay at the Catalonia Magdalenes.
Upon reading the reviews prior to our stay, we were expecting exceptional customer service from the staff as this is what the majority of reviews stated!
However, sadly we were a little disappointed with our experience. Staff were relatively friendly but nothing above or beyond normal. When we checked in we were not given any information about the hotel, we were told to wait as our room was not ready, then 15 minutes later handed a key and not even explained to where in the hotel this was.
When we arrived in our room, we had been upgraded as it was a 30th Birthday trip which was appreciated. I had previously arranged for decorations in the room, which again was quite disappointed with as only 4 balloons and a small chocolate cake which I had paid not a small amount for.
Rooftop pool was great to relax. Visited the rooftop bar a couple of times, the first occasion we ordered food and I had to send mine back as the pasta was hard. I was not offered an alternative, I was left to sit waiting 20 minutes while my partner had already eaten his meal. And again, we visited one evening for some drinks, we arrived at 10 past 10 and was told we had 20 minutes to order and drink before it closed. However the opening times stated it closed at 11pm.
We had an evening flight home and asked at reception the day before leaving for a late check out, the receptionist told us ‘that would be difficult’. There was no attempt to arrange this for us as we were advised to come back the morning of check out to see if it was possible, it was not.
The hotel itself was lovely, very clean, modern and everything we needed plus a great location! Breakfast was brilliant, with a wide choice of options, it’s just a shame we feel as though the service could have been better, and to the standard we was expecting.

Highly suprised by the treat we recieved during our stay in the hotel. Location, facilities and rooms are something that made my experience so nice, but our best assesment is focused on the guest costumer that this hotel has, and the one we want to highlight, is the one made by SERGI, the front desk man, always attentive and giving us the best tips to discover the city. My wife felt ill one of the days and he brought us a cup of tea and some sweets to overpass the afternoon on bed. AMAZING. We will return next year for sure. Congrats!

The hotel is in a perfect location, 5 min walk from Placa de Catalunya so is within quick reach of metro station or Aerobus airport transfer. There are numerous small restaurants & cafe’s in close proximity & the actual street is peaceful. Very welcoming hotel entrance with a glass covered sunken rock feature on the floor. The room is spacious, king size bed & large bathroom with walk in shower including disabled grab rails & seat if required. The room was very clean & modern. Included coffee machine, kettle, wall mounted tv, fridge, hairdryer etc. We didn’t have breakfast in the hotel due to the number of authentic cafe’s all over Barcelona so preferred to eat out. There is a small gym in the hotel & small swimming pool on the roof with sun beds which was relaxing if required. The reception staff were all polite & very helpful explaining the various tourist attractions & metro pros & cons. As seasoned travellers we would certainly recommend this hotel.

We went on a family vacation, 4 people, 2 rooms. The hotel was very clean, wi-fi was throughout the hotel and free. Staff were helpful. Rooms had lighted closets with lots of shelves for clothing and a rack. There was a safe and hair dryer in room. Bath loaded with Shampoo, Conitioner and body wash in big bottles. Lots of small ammenities given too. Pool was open until 8 pm, a little cool at this time of year, but would be great in the summer. Rooftop bar has great view of the Cathedral.

This hotel is in a great location - so many great places within walking distance and a metro stop within 2 minutes walk for places further afield. Adam gave us some fantastic recommendations for places to eat and Sergio was so welcoming at check in. We would definitely recommend staying here!

About 45 euros, 1.5km about 20 minutes walk. As for best beach, not the nearest as we thought is was dirty and full of hawkers. Not a patch on Malaga or Alicante.
There are more places to choose from in the Barcelona area.
