New four-star hotel located in the heart of Barcelona, in the Gothic neighborhood of the city, between the shopping area Portal de l'Angel and Via Laietana and a few meters from Las Ramblas, Plaça Catalunya and the Cathedral. Its location allows the customer to visit the most important tourist attractions of the city and discover the commercial contrast between the most popular shops and the more luxurious. A hotel with a Gothic quarter flavour. On a street that is part of the Roman Barcelona where many remains are still undiscovered. The hotel protects and exhibits inside, three parts of the Roman aqueduct that customers can see at the reception. Carefully decorated, the hotel seeks comfort in a stylish and cosmopolitan atmosphere. Amid the hustle of the city, the customer can choose to relax in the hotel spa with hamam and massages or enjoy the views of the city center on the magnificent terrace at the top of the building with a glazed swimming pool, solarium and snack bar in summer. The hotel also offers fitness. Complete and varied breakfast buffet with show cooking, hall bar and terrace bar open during the summer months. Internet corner and free Wi-Fi around the hotel. 61 practical and comfortable rooms with all amenities.

We loved everything about this hotel.
Staff could not be more helpful and friendly.
The room was great and so quiet, even though it looked out onto the street
Location is excellent, right in the heart of the Gothic Quarter that you can spend hours wandering around.

Aside from the outstanding location and amenities (roof-top pool and bar with food, attention to history (see cool Roman aqueduct remnants in lobby), clean and air conditioned rooms, fun tour recommendations), Catalonia Magdalenes has a fantastic service team. In particular, Adam anticipated our every need (especially dining, including walking me to a nearby gem) and all the small details that simplify travel. If service is a priority for you in your Barcelona travels, Catalonia Magdalenes is a must.

Getting there requires short walk because it is in a part of the Gothic Quarter that doesn't allow cabs...or so we were told by our taxi driver. Only to see a taxi drive up out front when we were checking in! It is only a block or so from the Cathedral and many interesting shops. Two metro stops Urquinona (pardon the spelling) and Jaume 1 are close by.

The staff were welcoming and gracious, very friendly. Beds were very comfortable. The room was the most quiet of any big city hotel we have been in, and being jet lagged, was much appreciated. The breakfast buffet was one of the best we have ever experienced. But the real service plus was helping us when our pre arranged taxi came at the wrong time and left us stranded when we needed to get to the airport. The staff spoke to the taxi service and then helped to arrange another taxi within ten minutes, super efficient! We were so impressed with our first stay at the Catalonia chain, we are considering going to the one in Riviera Maya (which is closer to our home base of Texas). Muchas gracias!

My wife and I recently stayed at Catalonia Magdalenes and had an excellent experience. The entire staff was incredibly helpful and the hotel is prepared for travelers who are looking for advice on places to eat, things to do, and how to get around the city. The location is great for anyone who is looking to experience the gothic quarter but also well connected to other areas. The room was kept quite clean as were the common areas. The rooftop bar area was also very comfortable. I would absolutely come back!

Although there was no view from our room we have to bear in mind that it is a city hotel in a central location and we were not there to spend time in a room. An excellent hotel with a great choice of breakfast, all through the property is very clean. The staff are on hand to assist at any time or the day. There is also a handy rooftop bar to rest after a busy day. On arrival we received a warm welcome from Sergio at reception and through our stay was always willing to chat, Adam the concierge was extremely helpful and offered advice when going out and about in Barcelona, if fact he even managed to book us a restaurant on a busy weekend. In. The evening we visited the rooftop terrace bar where Marco was attentive to our service and he poured an excellent perfect serve G&T. Just a really good stay. Thanks to all.

The Catalonia Magdalenes hotel is an excellent base from which to explore the city. The staff went out of their way to ensure we had a fantastic stay, particularly Aida on reception who booked our tickets to the top attractions and our taxi back to the airport. The room was spacious and clean and the breakfast buffet was delicious (thank you Neus, for cooking the best pancakes and Spanish omelettes). The hotel is in easy walking distance of many shops, sightseeing locations, cafes and restaurants (try Asian Ways for an amazing Japanese meal, or el nacional for a variety of dishes). It was great that there was a roof-top bar and pool area if you wanted to have a lazy afternoon or drinks in the evening (Silverio and the rest of the bar team were excellent hosts). The hotel is only a 10 minute walk to the nearest hop-on hop-off bus stop, which has 2 routes which take you to all the major sightseeing buildings and attractions. My daughter and I stayed here for 4 nights and we will definitely be going back.

Hotel Catalonia Magdelenes was a perfect place to stay. A warm welcome on arrival with a complimentary glass of cava; bedrooms kept spotless on a daily basis - thank you Raifa - and a great choice at breakfast. Best of all were the concierges, Aida, Simo and Marti, who went above and beyond to help us, ordering countless taxis, giving us advice and just being all-round lovely people. Thank you! 😎😍☀️

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel for 5 nights. The reception staff were very helpful especially Munia who gave us some recommendations for local restaurants to try – Andurina and Tracatra (different types of places but both fantastic) and advised us not to eat in La Rambla, which was good advice. The rooftop area is lovely and Silverio who works in the bar there is a lovely man and very polite. The staff warned us about pickpockets which are all around town and as Munia said they are magicians! Beware. The room we had was very comfortable and in a great location. It had a Nespresso machine :) and the towels and hairdryer were also good. In the foyer there is a section which displays part of an ancient roman aqueduct that was discovered when building the hotel....very cool.

We booked this hotel for a 2 night pre & post cruise stayover, for 8 people based on the TA reviews and must say, what a find and well worthy of the 5 stars.

The hotel is right in the centre of Barcelona, however it is located in a side street just off the main shopping and tourist areas, (5 min walk to the La Sagrada Famillia) and very quiet & personal.

The hotel, reception, resteraunt, rooms are extremely clean and well kept, with a beautiful rooftop lounge area, loungers etc which also overlooks the cathedral.

There were so many little touches (free coffee, fruit juices in reception) that made it even more quality.

Breakfast at this hotel was outstanding, well presented and qualty - the chef even made us a chicken curry omelette - brillant.

What really makes this hotel however, is the level of customer service and friendliness from ALL the staff, they really are a gold find here and looked after us so so well.

Justin (the TA superstar) and the rest of the team, many, many thanks again and please pass on our regards to the team.

About 45 euros, 1.5km about 20 minutes walk. As for best beach, not the nearest as we thought is was dirty and full of hawkers. Not a patch on Malaga or Alicante.
