The Hilton San Diego Gaslamp Quarter garners compliments for its modern, chic atmosphere and pristine rooms, with many guests appreciating the hotel's central location in the heart of the Gaslamp Quarter. While travelers rave about the friendly and professional service, some have pointed out occasional service hiccups. Despite its stylish decor and range of amenities, some visitors feel that the hotel's value proposition is diminished by steep parking fees and certain maintenance issues.

This was our first trip traveling with our fur baby while celebrating my fiancé’s birthday and our anniversary. We were a little nervous, to say the least, but our stay at the Hilton exceeded any expectations we had. From the moment we arrived on the property, we were greeted with such kindness and professionalism. Upon arrival, the valet informed us of pricing as we were greeted by Ray our bellman. Ray advised us to check in as there were rooms available and we couldn’t be more thankful he did so! We checked in with Ashley who was such a delight, Ashley provided us with everything needed to make our stay both comforting and memorable. Throughout our stay, we enjoyed a few cocktails at Wild Hare, the bar and restaurant in the lobby, where the bartenders were attentive. Monique from bell desk saved us on a few occasions providing us with umbrellas and ponchos for our concert! We were so busy before our trip that we both didn’t even think to check the weather, if Monique hadn’t provided us with ponchos we would have been sitting in the rain at Petco Park for a few hours. For those traveling with their fur babies, there’s a large grass field directly in front of the entrance, along with walking paths and a dog park less than a half mile away. Housekeeping also provided us with a few items, not to mention bringing a variety of sewing kits to fix a few tears we acquired. Many thanks to everyone at The Hilton, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and are happy to say it was the most memorable portion of our trip! Everyone was anticipatory of our needs and was genuine in providing the utmost level of service and hospitality. We are looking forward to our next trip back!

Hotel's Favourite
This recently renovated hotel is clean, modern, and full of amenities. We especially enjoyed the outdoor patio with games and the wireless chargers in the rooms. We also enjoyed the smaller pool and the cocktails at the bar downstairs. This hotel is closer to the Gaslamp Quarter than the Hilton Bayfront but is a smaller property with a less “resort” feeling. Would definitely recommend if you are exploring downtown San Diego.

We had an amazing time at the Hilton San Diego Gaslamp Quarter! The hotel's central location really helped us to visit the city without having a car. It is located steps away from a trolley station conveniently linking it to the Amtrak station and other parts of the city.
The hotel felt as if it had been recently refurbished and the bedding was very comfortable.
We had lunch at The Hare, and really enjoyed the food on the menu and the hospitable service.
All the staff we met were friendly and helpful and we really felt at home.

This hotel is pretty, and in an EXCELLENT location for food, drink, and attending a conference or Padres game... but the hotel and amenities themselves are not worth the price of admission. We checked in late at night after airline delays and the usual travel hiccups. For 3 nights, it was just over $2,000 per room. We had 3. Thank goodness for corporate expense accounts.

For that $2k, you get a bathroom with an automatic light so you cannot go to the bathroom in the middle of the night without blinding yourself and waking up your spouse (if applicable). You also get a $25 credit to use at their lobby bar each day for breakfast or lunch. This is essentially one breakfast entree and a glass or orange juice.

The rooms are nice, but plain. The service panel in the shower ceiling fell out the last day we were there. The beds are older (metal spring mattress), but not uncomfortable. It's truly just a so-so hotel, and I wouldn't pay more than $120 a night if it weren't for the perfect location.

Enjoyed a short day visit after an early morning cruise arrival. (Paid $185 base fee, no resort fee, for day use 10 am to 6 pm.)

Very comfortable and clean hotel and room. Located conveniently between 2 trolley (light rail) stops (Convention Center & Gaslamp Quarter) on the Green Line. Some rooms have a "Juliet Balcony" with sliding glass door facing the Convention Center and, from the highest floors, a slight view of the harbor.

Our King Bed room had a mini fridge and Coffee maker, the latter being one cup pod type (Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf brand) (see picture) and 4 liquid creamers plus cardboard cups. Large shower, no tub. Pleasant desk clerks.

Two very minor complaints. One side of the bed had no outlets. And the HVAC system was pretty noisy so we just turned the system off for the day.

It rained heavily while we were there very so stayed inside and enjoyed the hotel. Otherwise we would have explored the Gaslight District just around the corner (and small convenience store across the street). Hotel's bar & restaurant staff very friendly and helpful; they tuned the TV to the game we wanted to watch. Prices on the high side but typical of downtown San Diego.

An expensive way to spend 8 hours but on a rainy day, waiting for a late night flight, better than most alternatives if you are arriving early morning rom a cruise.

The staff was great. The restaurant, bar and valet people were awesome as was the front desk staff.
I am going to complain about the furniture in the room. The bed is so low it is riduculous and the "sofa" is useless. one person can sit on it and then 1 bar stool. It would be nice to have a small regular sofa or 2 chairs with arms on them in the room. I know this hotel was remodeled as we have stayed before but the redo didnt do justice to the rooms.

We have stayed at this Hilton in Gaslamp a few times now and could not be happier with each experience. Not only does the service always exceed expectations, but the recent renovations that have been completed in the past 2 years has truly elevated the vibe. From the new/inviting restaurant to the chic/modern touches they have made to the guest rooms, I would 100% recommend this property for both work and pleasure (especially the loft style rooms). It has truly turned into a laid back luxury/lifestyle hotel. Also, it’s import to mention that it is in a prime location, 10 steps from restaurants, bars, etc. and a quick Uber ride to Little Italy. I can’t wait to be back! Shout out to Francesca for the great work she has done as GM! Bravo!

Karla M wrote a review Feb 2024
I had such an enjoyable stay here. My boyfriend surprised me with a New Year’s stay & there was so much to love about our time at this Hilton. The hotel is located in Downtown San Diego so it’s a short walk away from an array of different bars, restaurants, & night clubs. It’s newly renovated so we were welcomed with a warm & modern ambiance as soon as we walked in. Lexi & Stephanie greeted us as soon as they saw us. They checked us in quickly & were so sweet and patient with answering every question we had.

We had the pleasure of staying in the hotel’s presidential suite— an elegant, well-maintained, & dignified suite with a beautiful view. Its layout & furnishing made our stay feel lavish and more special.

The bar & restaurant area were great too. The bar was busy when we went to grab drinks that night, but Xochitil & Catherine N. did a great job managing bar traffic. They got to us quickly & made yummy cocktails. We grabbed breakfast the morning after & weren’t disappointed with what we ordered. Breakfast isn’t buffet-style here, but the restaurant staff were so friendly & made sure to check in on people in their sections.

The worst part of this stay was finding out my car got a flat tire, but Dusty & his valet team did a great job informing me as soon as they found out. They made sure my car was okay & helped pump air into my tire (thank you SO much, Valet)

At check-out, Lexi & Eric made sure every aspect of our stay lived up to our expectations. We both left with big smiles on our faces. We definitely recommend & would come back again

The room was great and employees were friendly, however forcing people to pay for parking is ridiculous and unfair especially for the price. Allow self parking or include parking with the room for a Hilton Member. Or lower it to 15 or something.

We stayed 3 nights and really enjoyed our stay! Room was large and clean, we loved the pool, and the location is perfect - so many restaurant options. Only comment I have is that the room is not cleaned every day; the housekeeping will do the room only if requested at the front desk. And they don’t tell you that when you check-in. Otherwise everything was perfect!

It’s a very busy tourist area. You will find homeless people in all major cities, and this is no different. Just exercise normal precautions and be mindful of your surroundings. I stayed alone as a female traveler and never felt unsafe.
