Write a reviewWe had a wonderful stay in Barcelona in June of this year. What a beautiful and fabulous European city!! However the highlight of our incredible stay was the Catalonia Magdalenes Hotel. We were treated like family from the moment we checked in. The staff were incredible in their friendliness and helpfulness to both my wife and me. Specifically I would like to recognize Simo, Aida, Adam and Laura, the intern! They each provided us with gracious treatment conversation personal directions and excellent advice on sight seeing and restaurant recommendations. We felt we belonged there. The property and room were more than fantastic but as my review title suggests…… The people made all the difference. I have been traveling in my career for over 40 years, this ranks in the top two hotel experiences in my life. Bravo Catalonia Magdalenes💕😄😄😄😄 there should be more than 5 Stars to rate this hotel staff!!!

We stayed here at the end of July for a blast of culture and fun and Barcelona didn’t disappoint and the hotel in it’s fabulous position , just by the Cathedral , so bang slap in the middle of the Gothic quarter ,shopping area and the artisanal shops , bars and restaurants of Al Born area .
The transport links for the beach and all the sights were close by and everything was walking distance if necessary .
The hotel is clean the staff fall over themselves to make your stay as comfortable as possible and advise on transport and sights and Point you in the direction of the local restaurants .
There is the most fabulous roof top pool with bar and the most brilliant thing is that they provide snacks and beverages all through the afternoon and late evening !! So much food that if you just fancy lazing around , after sight seeing in the morning , you don’t need to go out for supper , bar serves drinks at reasonable prices , €3.50 for a beer .
The food markets are close by so you don’t have to pay for breakfast , which is quite pricey at €20 per person .
The rooms themselves are brand new ! They give you plenty of towels and products and room service is excellent!
The fact the hotel is so close to all the shopping and tourist spots make this an ideal choice for anyone staying for 3 or four nights .
Couldn’t fault anything !! Fabulous fun place to stay in a vibrant city ! Can’t wait to return .
Oh and a couple of good restaurant recommendations
Bar del Pla , ask for Sandra , 15 mins walk from hotel , and the old converted garage ‘el National ‘ , just north of Catalunya square , the food in both of these is excellent and the service and ambiance exceptional

As you mention we are located in the very heart of the Gothic neighbourhood, one of the most vibrant areas in Barcelona and within walking distance to some of the most important attractions, as well as restaurants and shops. In fact from the rooftop guest´can enjoy an outstanding view of the Gothic Cathedral. As you say we offer free snacks from 14 to 23h, soft drinks included, this is by far the most popular service at the hotel. I chose this hotel as everyone raved about how wonderful it was and how amazing the customer service is there. I went in expecting to be wowed, and I was happy with it but not wowed. Aside from the bellman who offered to take our bags, gave us a glass of bubbly at check-in, and showed us our room, the service was relatively ordinary for a decent hotel. I’ve had much more remarkable service at many 4 and 5 star hotels around the world. They don’t offer currency exchange, which surprised me. My husband tried buying us cappuccinos from the restaurant after the opening time, and the employee there told him no, to just make one in our room. We didn’t want to use our room’s machine so after being denied coffee, we went to a cafe for breakfast. The room itself is good with a comfy bed, a nice sized bathroom, and good A/C, although the front desk had to control our A/C as our thermostat wasn’t working. The blinds are electric, and it would have been nice to have that explained as it appeared that a lot of people just left theirs open, not knowing they could close. The rooftop pool was tiny but beautiful and had awesome cabanas free for hotel guests. The drinks were yummy at the pool bar. The elevators broke while we were there, which really freaked me out as a disabled person. Thankfully, a maintenance man happened to walk by, so I told him, and he immediately went downstairs to report it and had it fixed within a few minutes. The location is walking distance from La Rambla. We’d stay here again, but it’s not a memorable stay.

Great location for walking to most tourist destinations and near many places to eat and drink. The room was cleaned daily and was kept spotless. Great customer service. Sergi at the front desk gave perfect restaurant recommendations. Perfect location.

words can not express our feelings regard our vacation we have took in this excellent hotel !!! This new hotel ( 3 years ( small ( 36 rooms ) very clean, intimate , located near Barcelona center ( 400 m ) with small spa and workout gym, the free lunch at the lobby. much more than just ordinary satiating breakfast. Above all is the great stuff at: ( the bell boys, the front desk , the restaurant , the lobby dinning corner and the house keepers. ) ALL of the, made as much as they could to make us more than happy and pleased. therefore it is our pleasure to publish our review and praise this 4 stars hotel ( like 5 stars..and more ). We will definitely visit again... !!!!
