Quick comment - You won't find better value for cost in all of Barcelona

Pros:
Friendly, attentive staff
Quiet location
Large, comfortable rooms (suites)
A 1 star Michelin restaurant next door which offers room service (!)

Cons:
A bit out of the way, but only a few minutes walk to a metro station

Longer review:
This hotel is no where near the tourist areas of the old town nor the beach so if you're looking to walk out of your hotel and either be on Las Ramblas or the beach, don't stay here. BUT - if you are willing to use the convenient metro system to get around, and you don't need 5 star luxury amenities like a down duvet, separate walk-in shower etc. then this should be tops on your list!

You seriously won't find any hotel in Barcelona that offers what this hotel does for the price. Most rooms in Barcelona are small - small, small, small - unless you're willing to pay a minimum of 300Euros (up to 1000Euros or more) a night for one of the true luxury hotels like the Arts. This is an all-suite hotel so you've got a separated living room, large bedroom and bathroom. All that for less than you'd pay at most hotels in the city for a tiny 20sq room!

The breakfast is not five star, but certainly acceptable all the "continental" breakfast things as well as eggs and bacon. As mentioned, attached to the hotel is the 1 star Michelin restaurant called Neichel or something - and during (Spanish) lunch and dinner times, you can get room service from that restaurant.

Dear Guest, THANK YOU!!....for being so expressive in your description about our hotel. You hit the nail on the head when you mention you won't find better value for cost in all of Barcelona: we offer very big junior suites for the same rate than most standard room in any of the 4* or 5* hotel in the city centre. And we are not at all far away from it either, it just takes 10-15 minute by taxi or 25 min. by metro, so the trade-off space-location is not bad. I'm also happy you dined in one of our two restaurants: The Neichel. This restaurant is a classic in town; Jean Louis Neichel, the chef, has been able to defend its 1* Michelin star for the last 25 years! I'm sincerely glad you enjoyed your stay with us. Kindest regards, Maraya Perinat General Manager AC Hotel Victoria Suites

I can't say enough good about this hotel, where I spent a little over a month while I looked for an apartment in Barcelona, an immensely frustrating and time-consuming process because of the inefficient real estate system used here and because late July-August is the traditional vacation season, including for just about every real estate agency in town.

I arrived July 23 on a sweltering night to the realization that the apartment I had booked until Aug. 10 did not have air conditioning! I called AC Hotel Victoria Suites, where my reservation was to begin Aug. 10, and Front Desk Manager Natalia said they could accommodate me the following day.

A converted former condo building, the hotel has suite-size rooms with high ceilings, space to work, a living area, kitchenette and large bedroom. The front faces the very quiet side street Beltran i Rozpide and the back a dead end. They're rebuilding the pool and restaurant, but I never found the construction intrusive.

The best thing about the hotel is its staff, a group of outstanding professionals who are welcoming, pleasant and go the extra mile to meet your every need. I had a bunch of documents to download, sign and have scanned while I was there, and the young Front Desk ladies and gentlemen could not have been more helpful. Ditto on the many times I asked for directions on how to get to a particular address to look at an apartment. Many of them native Barcelonians, they're a wealth of information on good restaurants and other things to do and see in one of the world's greatest cities.

General Manager Cristina Garcia Amoros runs a very good ship, and if you belong to the outstanding Marriott Rewards Program, you'll earn valuable points for future stays with Marriott around the world.

The hotel is located in the quieter and residential Pedralbes area of Barcelona, but there is excellent and fast access to the touristic center by Metro, bus, tram and taxi. The hotel serves a daily and very good buffet breakfast and, while its restaurant is being rebuilt, room service as well.

I don't know how many stars the Spanish government has given AC Hotel Victoria Suites, but they've earned five stars and more in my book.

The room was good, with a separate area with a sofa/table/two chairs, and a v.comfy bed. Bathroom good. All very modern and business-like. A large balcony with access from sleeping area and sitting area looked nice, it would be great in summer, as would their outdoor swimming pool. Just a few issues. We had a tiny kitchenette attached - it had a water heater/coffee maker that only gave out warm (not hot) water - a kettle would be better! Some of the food (buffet breakfast and room service) wasn't good. It wasn't very fresh. The chicken salad was deep fried chicken nuggets with salad and floppy bacon (ie, not very healthy). Same for goats cheese salad. And the worst, we ordered a chocolate desert that came with mould on it! It went back and of course it was taken off the bill (we didn't want a replacement...). The staff were professional and polite, however their English was limited, so I'm not sure they understood the problem (though the mould was visible!). We checked out at mid-day the next morning, and the food tray was still in the corridor where we'd left it the night before, we'd expected it to be collected the previous evening. Despite the food problems, we'd go back there again if we needed to be in that part of Barcelona - it isn't in the historic centre - but I wouldn't eat there again.

Dear Guest, Somehow I have skipped your comment and had not read it until now. If you are thinking of coming back to Barcelona, do come now! Although the weather is quite warm, you will be able to refresh in the swimming pool. There are only a few urban hotels in the city who can offer this service and we are happy to be one of them! In reference to the food, I'm sad to read that your experience was not nice. Although it's been a long time since your stay, I have printed your comment and talked about it with the person responsible of the food area. Thank you for your opinion, they often help us identify problems which must be addressed. Kind Regards, Maraya Perinat AC Victoria Suites Manager

Initially upon arrival, we were disappointed with 1 king bed + 1 rollaway bed, since we had requested a sofa bed when reserving a month prior.
Although the hotel was fully booked, we were moved the following day to a wonderful 2 bedroom suite, 2 single beds in 2nd bedroom + a very spacious living room. Much appreciated!
Mini bar, room service & on site restaurant with pretty outdoor terrace & excellent service.
Nice breakfast until 10:30 am, with a decent variety, juice, eggs, fresh fruit, cereals, yogurts, croissants, chocolate danish, loaf cakes, etc..
Comfortable beds, spacious bathroom with tub and shower + the entire hotel is kept impeccably clean, inside and out.
Family friendly and located in a safe, quiet area, very close to Diagonal. The Bus Turistico stops are close by.
Very attentive, helpful & friendly reception staff, special thanks to Alberto, Antonio, Eloise and the hotel manager Natalia....Muchas gracias!
Above & beyond! We were caught up in the terrorist attack on La Rambla, and couldn't use the Bus Turistico we had paid for. The following day, the bus company refused to refund the 2 tickets, which is quite shameful, but the hotel went above and beyond by refunding us the 60 euros. Commendable!

The plus points of this hotel are the size of the rooms/suites and the helpfulness of most of the staff, who are - in the main - excellent. It is on easy bus, tram and metro routes to bars, restaurants and the main tourist areas, but there isn't much within walking distance, other than the L'Illa Shopping Centre (quite a good afternoon's browsing and shopping) and a moderately sized El Corte Ingles. The pool is quite nice, although could do with a few more sunloungers at busy times. Breakfast is pretty good, with a wide range of choices, and a rather annoyingly slow 'nespresso' coffee machine, which also provides a dribble of hot water if you prefer tea.
The downside of the hotel is that it has limited room service and not particularly comfortable beds. They're OK. It's all OK, and if you get a good deal ,it's not a bad place to stay. Make that a 'really good deal'....
