There are three resorts on property, Grand Memories is farthest away from beach, Grand Memories Splash located right beside water park, and Royalton which is beachfront. (You have access to all three) All three resorts have the amenities needed to enjoy your stay and are so close you could walk from front to back in 10 min.
Grand Memories has 2 a la carts (pasta and Mexican), bar, pool, kids pool, and nightly entertainment. (Mini stage set up)
Splash has 1 a la cart (sea food), the main buffet, ice cream/coffee/desert shop, burger/hotdog/fry shop, mini shopping store, pool, kids pool, jacuzzi, kids club, kids games room, 2 bars, and main entertainment stage.
Royalton is located on the beach but still offers pool, kids pool, lots of shaded areas, multiple bars, buffet, 3 a la carts (Italian/Japanese/surf&turf), bbq grilling restaurant, and 2 other Diamond Club only restaurants. This resort is more adult oriented, with shopping options like purses, cigars, beach wear, everyday clothing, money exchange, casino, and a main shopping store.
There are work out areas, Spanish lessons, yoga, entertainment, bars, pools, kid friendly activities on all three resorts. The prices are the same no matter what shop you buy your T-shirt from.
The currency exchange booth wanted 50% exchange rate when I tried to convert CAN$-US$
You purchase bottles to take home from any of the lobby’s by viewing the bottles and prices at any bar.
Tip, Tip, Tip, it’s appreciated and the service is better. You will still get your burger, or table cleaned, but....a tip has them remember you. They will have a drink ready for you as soon as they see you by the pool, have a towel saved for you, or extras are done in your room. The drink fridge will always be restocked, or the bartender will make sure you have premium alcohol.

Special people that stand out are....
Ramon, he balances drinks on his head while delivering your order on his bike and is always helpful and friendly.
Jhoun at the beach bar/Bali bed rentals (top notch service) he will give you 5 star service and is very friendly.
Juon at the buffet, man this guy can work! He brought drinks, topped your drinks when they got low, took away
plates quickly, he was just super.
The water park is very serious when it comes to the height of the rider so make sure your child is 4 ft tall or they will not be going on the adult rides.

This is the 3rd year we have been to Grand Memories and it gets better and better each year. On arrival we were quickly allocated a room overlooking the pool, the rooms are spacious and well equipped. Good air conditioning which was lovely after a day round the pool. Our cleaning maid Emma Segura kept our room spotless and it always smelt lovely and she left lovely touches such as flowers on the bed and a flower arrangement intwined in the net curtains.The walk up to The Royalton is well worth it you pass the water park and then through the bird sanctuary where they have a range of birds such as peacocks strutting their stuff and showing off their feathers and it literally takes 10 minutes. Round the main pool the entertainment team are friendly and will stop and have a chat to you Roman Fulga kept everyone amused by how many drinks he could carry whilst riding his bike. Meals in the main buffet are varied and they have special sections where it is cooked whilst you wait, it can get a bit busy in here at peak times and they are a bit slow to clean tables up and reset them. On an evening the entertaintment is good or if you just want a quiet drink and chat go to see Ruver and Martha at the Bellina Bar they are just so helpful and work very hard. One thing that was a complete surprise to us was that the hotel wanted 200 US Dollars as a deposit for the room this year which was a complete surprise, we didnt take a card and certainley didn't have 200 Dollars cash so we just signed a form to say if we wanted any extrs we had to pay it straight away, never have I had to do this is any other hotel that I have been to

Newly renovated nice, non damp smelly rooms (otherwise often the case on these resors). Good cleaning staff. Lovely gardens. Pools had to many particles in them (need to be cleaned). Gracia restaurant on the beach (extra cost of 15 USD per adult visitors from Memories) was a good restaurant. A la carte restaurants and the memories facilities worse than the buffet and not worth the effort. Buffet restaurant had high quality food, good chefs, but mostly terrible waiters (lazy, would serve drinks or clean/prepare tables). Much effort to sell additional services to guests who have already paid for all inclusive. So called "house conceriege" service was terrible. Only focused on selling. Waist of time. Dont accept any of their "services". Diving better in the carib side of the island. Too high waves on this side of the island (towards the atlantic). Fun water park. Kids and myself had great fun. Beach was nice. Noisy and unncessary low quality entertainment at pools and in the evening (mostly disturbed sleep, bring ear plugs).

Upon arrival we were helped by Esther in the Diamond club and it seemed as if she was brand new. After waiting almost an hour to check in she finally got organized gave us our wristbands but did not give us a room which took another 20 minutes to have the room prepared. After this long wait she advised it would be faster to just bring our belongings to the room ourselves as it would’ve been quite a wait. Along with my two enfants and
wife we trekked 15 minutes in the heat to find our room

They offer access to Royalton Punta Cana restaurants if you do a tour to be offered to pay a large sum of money to stay at royalton resorts. I noticed this in Jamaica too so quickly shot down the invitation as I would not recommend this to any guests as it is a gouge for money and similar to time share agreements that are hard to get out of.

Buffet was really the only place to eat as the a la carte had long waits even being a diamond club guest. We got to eat at the mexican and italian both were long waits for food and was the same quality as the buffet

Service was not great, servers did not understand the needs instead rushing thru instead of doing it properly. My son requires a high chair and each time I had to ask for it to be cleaned from food and debris left from other children. Diamond club section in the buffet was packed and you could go sit in the normal buffet for the same or better service.

Unfortunately my 22 month old son got hand foot and mouth on day 4 of vacation. Do not waste thousands of dollars to have your vacation ruined by this. They don’t sanitize the pools, cutlery, and tables. Add this to the list of hotels affected by this Royalton Bavaro, & Grand Barcelo.

While staying at Grand Memories Splash, I realized protocols that were in place to prevent the spread of diseases were not being taken seriously by the hotel and their employee’s. The hallways were being mopped with water that smelled like urine and feces. Not only that not once in 7 days did I see water quality being tested nor treated.

Overall Diamond Club, concierge & butler are not worth any amount of money. I’ve stayed at other resorts were this service was not extra. There are many better places to stay for alot less money in Punta Cana. Absolutely nothing special no where close to Royalton which it was sold to be.

The health and safety of our guests is of paramount importance to us and we have protocols in place to ensure the highest standards. We would like to mention that the Coxsackie Virus is a highly contagious virus that is brought to the property by guests in the vast majority of the cases, very much like a common cold. This virus is almost non-existent in the Dominican Republic. As you might be aware, the incubation period varies from 2 to 5 days, which means that symptoms usually start to appear several days after the guest´s arrival. The chances of a guest contracting the illness at the hotel are extremely low. As part of our commitment to health and safety, the hotel have a clear and consistent protocol for the Prevention of the Spread of Infection (POSI) in place, which includes precise sanitization procedures, the use of specialized cleaning equipment and commitment to a clear record-keeping, in addition to reviewing control files to prevent the possibility of an outbreak. Our staff offers ongoing advice to guests about monitoring their health and protecting themselves from the spread of germs and our medical team is readily available to assist our guests with hospital services and swiftly address any concerns. We also work regularly with Saniconsult, a leading health and safety advisory group with a focus on outpatient care and prevention in sanitary areas, to ensure we are keeping up the best practices. Our work with Saniconsult includes ongoing audit reports and health-focused solutions (i.e. food hygiene, water control, disease prevention). Unfortunately, if the guests do not notify us, we can only activate our protocols to prevent and contain the fact. During this period, if the guest makes use of public facilities, the risk of spreading is higher. Nevertheless, we have never experienced an outbreak and cases have been limited to one or two at a time on the limited occasions we´ve had this illness on property. Claims that there have been several cases at once are highly inaccurate and misleading. It is very important to mention that the responsibility for prevention and containment rests with the hotel but, more importantly, the responsibility for reporting this illness urgently rests with the guest in order for us to take immediate action. To our dismay, this is not always the case. We will continue to monitor any customer complaints we receive and proactively work with authorities at the Ministry of Public Health and our partners at Saniconsult to ensure that all our guests have access to the safe and sanitary environments they expect.” Cordially, Grand Memories Team.

This is my first review ever and will be brutally honest. The Grand |Memories side is literally miles from the only beach access at the Royalton, as are all the decent A La Carte and buffet restaurants that you do not have any access to without paying to upgrade. Prepare for a lot of walking or waiting at least 20 minutes for transportation. The biggest scam is with the Diamond Club bracelet you get when you are pretty much forced to pay to upgrade for decent food. I had to pay $240 US for 2 people. The food in the Selections buffet was below average for the Dominican . Real Diamond Club Members get priority seating and you will be confused and turned away from certain pools and beach areas that are only for the elite with black bracelets. The upgrade gets you nothing more than the line up at the Royalton buffet and restaurants that are always too full to get in. The staff are all amazing and friendly. Christian from the tiny lobby bar at Memories, Arturo from the Royalton lobby bar, and all the restaurant staff and front desk workers, Caesar and Gilberto were very helpful and Jennifer at Guest Services should be promoted to Manager. The Water Park was never too busy and lots of fun. You will never get a beach chair unless you claim one before 9 AM with a towel like every other ignorant person at the beach. My biggest complaint is with how this resort is run. There is a class system in place and Memories guests are the lowest class with minimal access to pools or restaurants.

This was our 1st time to Grand Memories in Punta Cana and I can say for sure that we will be back. It is a great family resort with lots of stuff to do. You need to call and have your mini bar stocked daily - they will tell you this when you check in and our Sunwing rep also told us this at the orientation meeting - We would call and they would arrive in 15-20 minutes to restock which is nice because you can not use tap water for brushing teeth so you need bottled water which we already knew from having traveled to other places in the Caribbean. One complaint we have would be that there are no towel cards or a towel limit for guests so people leave towels all over the water park, at the beach and by the pools on the chairs and you don’t ever know if people are there or if they have left and just didn’t take their towels with them. We liked the fact that the bracelet you get when you check in has you room key attached to it. That is a really nice feature. Ordering room service or any extras for your room like blankets was easy as it was all done on the TV. Our kids aged 9 and 11 loved the water park.

This was my second trip to this resort. I would return again, I suggest upgrading to the Diamond club, which we did for both trips. The service is much better and the areas are quieter.
Clean rooms, comfortable beds, and stocked fridge. Room service is a nice feature especially in the morning for coffee or tea. All room service waiters where very pleasant and appreciative of tips.
Shows at night are good for young families, The Lion Kind was by far the best show in my opinion.
Food is four star.
Our first dining experience in the steakhouse was really good, second was not as pleasant, our waiter clearly had a larger section and was not able to give us the service we had received the first time. We witnessed the table beside us send back all 8 steaks they ordered, which I think set him back a bit so he was not able to focus on his other tables as much. When we asked other servers for things it was obvious they where annoyed to be helping a table that was not theirs.
Sushi bar was wonderful our kids ate there almost every day. The employees there are outstanding. Always quick to serve and made the experience really enjoyable!
Sands beach bar's bartenders are fantastic! We loved hitting up this area around happy hour. Almost daily one of our kids napped here, the sounds of the waves and the breeze make it a perfect location for an afternoon nap, while Mum and Dad can enjoy a nice cold draft! Cannot say enough good things about the bartenders at this bar, they were so accommodating and really made this area enjoyable, they are fun, and exciting when that is the vibe there, or chill and relaxing when they can see that's what people want. They definitely knew how to pick up on what their customers wanted...completely exceeded our expectations!
Water park is clean and well ran, no long lineups for slides. The tubes can be a bit of an issue, there isn't really a system in place for how to line up if they run out. Some people would hand them over once they had used them, others would keep them and walk right by the people obviously waiting for one.
Pools are clean and grounds are nicely taken care of. Beach area is clean, we never had a issue with vendors bothering us. Worth the upgrade to Diamond if you are a beach lover. Our family had our own private section each day where we never waited for service.
We booked a day trip with Evan, he is located on the beach just beside the diamond beach bar. (Near the Punta Cana sign) I highly recommend. We were able to negotiate a really good price for our family of six. All kids enjoyed the snorkeling and the guys that ran the boat where fantastic!

We stayed in Grand memories splash but spent most time at the beach, we upgraded to Diamond Club and the beach area was perfect for us. Our room in bock 29 opposite the water park, basic but had everything you need, was a short walk to the beach through the Royalton or you could use the transport but there is no need.

Food in the buffet restaurant wasn't the greatest but most of the staff were good, the Seafood and Italian were good meals our favorite was the Mexican.

The best place for us was the Diamond Club beach bar the guys there - Yeison, Juan,Palasio and Diosenes, were great - excellent service with a smile and the food and drink were lovely. The guys helping with towels and beds were really helpful often going round sorting beds out for people. It was good to see they take beds with towels on that haven't been occupied so people can use them.

Our butler Edwin who was great sorting out our requests and the BBQ was excellent. The buffet restaurant near the beach (the only Royalton one we could use) was ok but service very hit and miss. Beans cafe was brilliant the ladies in there made a lovely start to our morning with their friendly, happy service and great drinks, cakes and sandwiches.

Diamond Club upgrade was worth it to us just for the beach area with beds and bar other than that I'm not sure it is. One thing we missed or isn't there is a main gathering/bar area (except where the entertainment was which was mainly for kids). All together though a wonderful holiday.

If you have kids I would recommend this hotel for sure. The kids club is good and the water park is excellent. They offer alot of family activities/shows and even offer face painting for the kids most evenings. Our child really enjoyed her vacation.

When we stayed at this hotel we paid extra for the Diamond Club upgrade. In our opinion the extra charge was worth the money. Our concierge, Edwin Berroa, was excellent. His communication skills are excellent and he was always around looking to make our experience a positive one. He was easy to find and reach. He is a huge asset to the hotel in creating an amazing guest experience.

The Diamond Club room was excellent as well. It was very spacious and always well cleaned. The room did not have the musty down south smell. Shower was large and the water was always hot. Beds are comfortable.

Some small things that we found fantastic. We did not have to carry around a room key as it was integrated in our wrist band. Also, there was no nonsense with the towels. You didn't have to exchange a card for a towel which meant that if you left your towel somewhere in the resort you simply grabbed another one from the closets towel station with no hassle. You could leave you room in the morning with nothing to carry. It's very liberating not having to carry a key nor worry about your towel. Well done Royalton / Grand Memories!

The hotel food was great. There was a good variety and making reservations were very easy to make as our concierge, Edwin, took care of all of it. The restaurants were clean and the choice in food was very good.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone. If you do not have kids, I'd recommend you stay at the adjoining hotel which is the Royalton. Either way you're in good hands.

Issues with supposedly mandatory in room for diamond club including hot drinks, mini bar, robes, slippers, face clothes and toiletries. Spent 5 days chasing this up with butler. Mini bar only kept full if tipped daily otherwise only refilled with water!
Room never cleaned under bed it was disgusting. Room smelt musty. Never received any hair conditioner in all 14 days and other toiletries were spasmodic. No free bottle of spirit as was advertised at reception desk and when questioned told last day too late - was not aware we could have this as when asked butler told spirit not included!!!
Indifferent service when requesting drinks.
Pot luck with quality, heat and service of food. Food cold and either over or undercooked at times. Other times really good in buffet especially breakfast.
Restaurants very limited selection. No spag Bol or lasagna in Italian but could get for room service!
Too many aggressive sellers on grounds. Had to run gauntlet of tables. Timeshare selling/ holiday club nightmare.
Diamond Club not worth money as anyone able to sit around pool and separate areas. Not able to sit in buffet areas in Diamond Club as not enough tables. Again service variable in buffet.
Most staff very accommodating but some would not give time of day unless black band.

Best place to eat was Score Bar at Royalton which we used daily once aware of it.
Beans Cafe and Bites excellent.

All in all not value for money and will not be returning to this hotel

We take good note of your observation and your comment will be sent to the Diamond Club Manager. We are sorry about the impressions that you may receive about the service from our staff, you can be sure your comments will be taken into consideration for providing a better service. As per our restaurants, they have a tendency to fill up early because we are at our maximum capacity. Our restaurant managers and their teamwork hard to provide a fast and efficient quality service to all our guests and our Executive Chef works hard to make an extensive and varied menu of luxury dishes; we have a different menu every night in our buffet, with a wide variety of foods for all our guests. Concerning the Vacation Club sales staff, If some of our staff members did not perform you as they should, we sincerely apologize and we assure you that the hotel does not agree with this kind of conduct. Whilst an apology will not change the outcome of your experience it is our sincerest hope that you will grant us the opportunity of serving you to an experience that will surpass your last. Diamond club was available at booking. I booked direct through the website. We stayed in building 25 on the ground floor and had no issues. There is a Royalton App that you can add to your phone, but the Concierge worked better, I believe you can book through your TV as well.

yes but they are useless. We never used ours and ended up going to the Diamond CLub desk whenever we needed anything. For example to book our dinners we were clear....between 530 and 630. He would only come back with 8, 830, etc....When i went to the desk, i was able to get whatever i wanted. I never met him face to face...but he did show up on day of checkout for his tip. I told him he had to be crazy...i only tip for service/support.
