Bonny Sengupta and Priyanka Sarkar’s dark thriller ‘Robin’s Kitchen’ to release on July 19; Trailer of the film out now

Bonny Sengupta is turning chef for his upcoming movie. The popular actor of Tollywood will be seen in a dark thriller named ‘Robin’s Kitchen’. Actress Priyanka Sarkar will be seen opposite Bonny in the film as the female protagonist. The trailer of the film is out now.
‘Robin’s Kitchen’, directed by Bappa, boasts to be a dark thriller set upon the backdrop of a culinary tale.The story of the movie revolves around the titular character Robin, who grew up enjoying his mother’s cooking. Since childhood, Robin nurtured the dream of becoming a chef and opening his own restaurant where he will be able to showcase his mother’s special recipes. The dream of the restaurant dials down and Robin finally gathers enough capital to open his café, ‘Robin’s Kitchen’.
While hiring staff for his café, Robin meets Niharika. As Niharika joins Robin’s kitchen, Robin and she fall in love with each other. But there is more twist to this story. Aritra, a local political leader, comes into the picture, and eyes the plot of Robin’s Kitchen. He tries his best to get hold of the land of Robin’s Kitchen but in vain. However, Aritra doesn’t rest despite his failure.

As Robin flies out of Kolkata to seize an opportunity that could help him grow his business, Aritra comes back to bother Niharika. Niharika begins to crack under pressure and constant harassment. Robin comes back and gets to know that Aritra is responsible for Niharika’s condition. What will Robin do to avenge Niharika?
Bonny, who has essayed the character of Robin in ‘Robin’s Kitchen’, harbours a special love for thrillers. Bonny says, “I love thrillers, so working on this movie has been a treat! Also, working with a fresh team, such a fresh story – it’s been a delight. I am not that great a cook. I only cooked a few dishes during lockdown. For this movie, I had to act like I was a pro cook! That was very special indeed.”
Priyanka, who has played the character of Niharika, says, “We often visit cafes and just spend our time enjoying the food. We don’t really invest in getting to know the people behind that. Their struggles, their ambitions – we know nothing of those. So when I heard the story of ‘Robin’s Kitchen’, I was very interested to know how a thriller pans out in the backdrop of a café! We shot mostly in and around the city and cafes. It was so much fun and we enjoyed the process a lot.”
Bappa has been known as someone who roots for out-of-the-box stories for his projects and ‘Robin’s Kitchen’ is no exception. Bappa, who ideated the story of the movie, says “I haven’t seen a thriller that’s wrapped in romance in recent times. So I just jotted down the key story for the film. Bonny and Priyanka have been marvellous in their characters. I thoroughly enjoyed working with such dedicated professionals. I’d especially mention the name of Shantanu Nath, who is a known thespian, has worked brilliantly in the film.”
Produced by Pandey Motions Pictures, ‘Robin’s Kitchen’ is slated to have a theatrical release on July 19.
