Disciplinary, Traffic and Car Parking Offences

What is a disciplinary offence?

Disciplinary action may be taken against students who impact the activities of the University or those who work and study within it. For instance, the University may issue a disciplinary offence in relation to student conduct which affects members and/or residents of the local community. If you have been accused of breaching the University's rules and regulations around conduct and behaviour, you will receive notification of an investigation which may be followed by a disciplinary allegation.

Received a traffic/car parking offence?

Most car parking offences are dealt with under regulations relating to Traffic and Parking, unless you have committed multiple or serious offences. All drivers on campus are subject to Ordinance XXIII and to the Code of Conduct on Traffic and Parking in the University.

What do we offer?

LSU Advice can support students or researchers facing disciplinary allegations, or alleged traffic and car parking offences from the University by guiding you through the process. Our support can include:

  • Talking through your situation with you
  • Reviewing two drafts of your response to the committee (one in depth, and a second final check)
  • Advising on what evidence may be necessary
  • Helping to prepare you for any meetings

To find out more about how we can help, please watch our disciplinary offences video below:

If you have received notification of an investigation or disciplinary allegation, contact us as soon as possible for independent and non-judgmental advice on your response. You will be allocated an advisor, who can provide advice and can guide you through the process and your options.

If you would like to speak to one of our Advice Team, please email us in good time, before any deadlines. To do so, please provide us with your enquiry and any relevant documents you have been sent. If you have been banned from campus, or the Students' Union, please inform us to allow arrangements to be made should you require an in-person appointment.

Please note that as part of the Students' Union, unfortunately we cannot provide advice on LSU disciplinary procedures.

If you haven't done so already, please visit the following University links which outline further information about disciplinary, traffic and car parking offences:

In the first instance, it's often best to contact us via email. Once you've emailed us, you'll receive a consent form which is important to complete, to allow your case to be allocated to an advisor. It's also really helpful to include and attach all the relevant information to your circumstances.
We provide advice in good faith, based on the information available to us. Please note, we are not able to advise on student vs student conflicts or Students' Union disciplinaries or complaints. Click here to view our code of practice.
