What is Loughborough Students’ Union?
Every student at Loughborough is part of Loughborough Students' Union. We're independent of the University, run and led by students, for students. We are here to help students learn new skills, make friends, have fun, solve problems and make the most of their Loughborough experience.
Who runs the Union?
The Union is run by elected students and is here to represent your voice and make sure that you love your time at Loughborough. Students give their views, opinions and ideas to a group of annually elected representatives who oversee the running of the Union on the member's behalf. These elected students are the student Executive Officers, who are backed by volunteers and full time staff.
What is the AU?
The Athletic Union has a diverse variety of clubs available for everyone to be involved with. Regardless of what level you have played before, whether it is recreational or elite, the AU can cater for you! We are extremely proud of our sporting success and reputation as the best University for sport, highlighted by Loughborough winning the BUCS (British Universities and Colleges Sport) Championship for a record 40 consecutive years. Alongside this, we have numerous world class athletes and countless famous sporting alumni, including names such as Lord Sebastian Coe, The Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson and Ben Kay MBE.
What is LSU Advice & Academic Representation?
LSU Advice is a confidential and non-judgemental service specifically to help you with any issues or problems you have with the University. We can help you with a range of issues, including academic misconduct, appealing results, disciplinary allegations, mitigating circumstances claims or if you want to make a complaint against the University.
LSU Advice is open 10am-4pm Monday to Friday. We are based on the 1st floor of the Loughborough Students’ Union building and the 2nd floor of the Loughborough University London building.

Can I hire a room for a private event?
There are a number of venues within the Union Building which are available for hire to both members and non-members. For information about booking a bar or club venue, please contact Union@lsu.co.uk.

Where do I go to check lost property?
All lost property is handed into the Union Reception. Please ask there if someone handed it in. Alternatively, we recommend checking the Official Loughborough Freshers' group on Facebook to see if someone found it.
I lost my university ID with a Platinum sticker on it.
You can get a new sticker for your student card from the Union reception.
How can I get a refund for a society or an AU club membership?
If you require a refund or changing of a product or service purchased from a society or an AU Club, please contact them directly as they will be able to provide more details about their procedures.

Venue questions
I'm not a student, do I have access in the Union on a night out?
Loughborough Students' Union is not open to the general public on nights out.
What is the ID Policy for Loughborough Students' Union?
The Union has the right to and may refuse admission to any customers who have consumed alcohol prior to arriving at the venue, and who cannot provide a valid ID proving that they are over 18 years old.
Students of Loughborough University require their Student ID AND a valid form of legal ID to gain entry to events.
Accepted forms of ID are: Driver's license (full or provisional), Passport and ID cards. We do not accept any other University’s cards as proof of age or ID.
Is there a cloakroom?
There is a cloakroom next to the entrance in Fusion. It is able to take a limited number of bags and coats for £1 per item. Large bags are taken at staff discretion.
What do I do if I lose my cloakroom ticket?
No item will be given out without the matching ticket being presented unless authorised by the Duty Manager. If you have lost your ticket you will be asked to wait till the end of the event to collect your belongings. Remember to take a photo of your ticket!
I forgot an item in the cloakroom. When is it open?
The Union Cloakroom is open on Mondays and Thursdays 1pm - 3pm.
Is there an age limit for club nights?
Our club nights are for over 18’s only.
If you are under 18 years of age, we are sorry but you cannot attend our club nights until you reach 18 years of age.
What should I do if I have an issue or problem whilst at the Union?
If you have a complaint about the venue or event, please speak to a member of security who will try to assist and in turn, if necessary, contact a Duty Manager immediately and the issue will try to be resolved.
Complaints after an event should be sent via email directly to union@lsu.co.uk.
Will there be strobe lighting during a show?
Yes, the Union does use strobe lighting in its venues.
Why do some people seem to ignore the queue at the Union and go straight in?
We run a guest list for virtually all events. On this list will be executive officers, competition winners, or any other LSU staff. This varies by night.
Moreover, any student who possesses a Platinum membership can skip the queue.
Health and Wellbeing Questions
Disability Office
The Disability Office provides a wide range of support, advice and guidance for disabled students, including students with medical conditions. They offer fantastic drop-in sessions for a range of different issues and no appointment is necessary so just pop in and see them during the following times; Monday 1230-1330, Tuesday 1230-1330 and 1430-1630, Wednesday 1230-1430, Thursday 1230-1330 and Friday 1230-1330. Dyslexia Support

Counselling Service
The Counselling Service is available to all students and offers an opportunity to talk and reflect with a professionally trained person who is outside your immediate situation. They are a brilliant, well-established and experienced team of counsellors and you can talk to us about any personal, social or emotional concern, however big or small, whether or not it is affecting your work or studies.
The University also offer online counselling so instead of a weekly appointment a student registered gets a weekly message to discuss with your counsellor any issues you are having. Mental Health Support Team
The Mental Health Support Team is here to support students experiencing mental health difficulties and provide advice and information on mental health issues. An mental health issue can range from anything from feeling stressed to depression, they are an brilliant team so don’t hesitate to contact them. Medical Centre
The University Medical Centre is a regular GP surgery providing NHS services to registered patients and has suitable access for disabled patients. In addition to GP consultations, it provides a variety of clinics and services such as blood tests, baby clinics, maternity services, minor surgery, vaccinations, contraceptive services and sexual health clinics.
