Hotel was modern and clean. The hotel was only 10 minutes walk to Las Ramblas, 20 to the port and 10 to the main shopping area. Staff spoke little english but this was never a problem. Breakfast was varied and tasty. Took about 20 minutes to get from the airport and the taxi cost little over 20 euros. Remeber to keep a leaflet from the hotel with you at all times as its handy when you are getting a taxi... I get the impression this hotel is new as none of the taxi drivers knew where it was!Throughly enjoyed weekend in Barcelona and would reccommend this hotel!

I stayed last week at this Hotel. Firstly I was very surprised with the modern design decoration on the Hotel lobby, which includes some figures from the artist Joan Brossa ( I asked and He was a very famous modern painter). The room was great, with a plasma Tv and wireless Internet access. Another thing that was suprising for me, was the garden of the Hotel, is is located behind the main building and it is great since it gives you a relaxing atmosphere.
Besides the location was great, It's 5 minutes from Paseo de Gracia and in the city center!!
For sure I'll come back!!

I have to agree with some of the other review writers that this hotel was nicely decorated and looked new and modern. However, it is after this point that I have to disagree with the other positive reviews.

We arrived late in the evening after booking this hotel on the Internet and requesting 2 non smoking adjacent rooms to be told that there were only 2 rooms remaining and they were on different floors and one was a smoking room. The lady at the reception and most of the staff were aloof to the point of rudeness. I understand that this is a 4 star property but I have staying in similar and better places for less attitude.

The problems continued in the following order: in the minibar in my room I noticed a half opened old packet of ham and many drinks missing; there were lamps that had no light bulbs, no one seemed to speak English especially the person who answered the room service line and HUNG UP on me 3 times in a row -eventually someone turned with the following "continental breakfast": 1 tiny croissant and 1 (hot) small glass of OJ = total price 12 Euros.

The hotel was also not central it was located in the business district that was dead in the evening and a half hour walk to the happening area of Barcelona. And then there was the issue of the missing "Business Centre" - it was listed in the hotel guide but some of the staff said it did not exist while others said it was located in another building(?) a few blocks down! We never seemed to solve that mystery but located an Internet cafe elsewhere.

BUT I think the highlight of the mishaps was when after returning one afternoon after being away from the room the whole day to find that my room with all my bags etc, had not had the door locked properly after it was cleaned and so I didn't even need the key to get it - I just pushed the door and it opened...security issues maybe??

To sum up, I think the total experience was like staying at a 4 star Fawlty Towers establishment. I understand that the hotel is still new but they seriously need to get their act together if they are to classify themselves and have the "attitude" of a 4 star hotel. I suggest either new staff or hospitality training for ALL staff.

Stayed here for two nights on 20th July 2006.

Good location - less than 5 mintues walk to Provenca/Diagonal underground stations. Just turn left out of the hotel and walk two blocks. Or 10 minutes walk to Gaudi's Pedrera and the Tourist Information office in Palace Robert at Diagonal.

The hotel is brand new, modern, contemporary and very clean - that is, apart from the corridors upstairs. Who knows why they are not vacumed properly - not a big issue - but strangely noticeable in new hotel.

Ask for a room at the back - its very quiet overlooking the restaurant terrace and childrens playground.

We had to take a smoking room but there was no smell at all.

We paid 70 euros plus tax per night through a discount hotel website. For this price, they give you one of the handful of less spacious double rooms on each floor - but still with excellent king size bed. These rooms are really set up for single business people on overnight stays but a couple will be very comfortable for a few days.

The lunch time set menu in the restaurant is very popular with local office workers - its only 10 euros for three courses - but only on Monday to Friday. The same menu is also available in the evening but the price increases to 18 euros. At the weekend the set menu increases to 20 euros at lunch or dinner.

The plasma TV only has two English channels - CNN International and BBC World. But, BBC World was not available.

There is Wi-Fi but no internet terminal in the hotel - a big negative. The reception desk will direct you to a copy shop about 10 minutes walk away on Diagonal. However, there is a very inexpensive internet cafe in the next street - 60 cents for 30 minutes. Turn right out of the hotel - turn left at the next junction - the cafe is half way down on the right.

There is a large supermarket - Bon Preu - behind a small door over the road from the hotel entrance. Lots of deli stuff to take home or eat in your room.

There is a great local brasserie very close to the hotel - excellent set 3-course menu in the evening for 8.5 euros including bread, wine and water - La Tasqueta de Muntaner. It says "Braserie" above the door. Turn right out of the hotel, turn left at the next junction, the restaurant is immediately on the other side of the road. There are bar tables in the main room and restaurant tables in the back "salon" plus a couple of tables outside. A very pleasant place.

Overall, a good hotel in a good locality, an excellent value four star hotel.

We stayed at the Cotursa Rossello with our 7 year old daugter for a 3 night break in April. Our room was on the 2nd floor at the front and the traffic was quite noisy but then we expect that in a bustling town centre and we actually slept very well. There was nothing especially positve or negative about the room but the bathroom was nicely designed and very modern. The staff were friendly.

The location is very pleasant, away from the main tourist area and in an upmarket area full of independent shops boutiques and restaurants. Having said that, most of the tourist attactions are quite a walk away and perhaps that is why we slept soundly! But taxis are cheap so you don't have to walk and the tube station is nearby. We highly recommend a nearby cafe for breakfast called Paul. We didn't try the hotel breakfast although it looked good.

There is a children's playground directly behind the hotel so this may be a good option if you have young children.

Our big surprise was the hotel restaurant. It looks quite uninviting - first it is empty, the menu is not displayed and they don't dim the lights - but we ate there on the last night when our daughter was too tired to go out walking again and were pleasantly surprised at the good quality of the food and it was also incredibly cheap compared to the other meals we had eaten. The service was also exceptional (just as well as we were the only ones there!) They were also happy to prepare a dish for our daughter who does not eat meat which was not on the menu. It is a shame they do not do something more about the ambience to attract some customers.

We do not know what we paid for the hotel as we got a last minute package of £215 each for scheduled Iberia flights from Heathrow (at very good times) and 3 nights in the hotel but this seemed like a very good value hotel for that price.

We recommend getting a taxi from the airport as it is only 20 euros.

We only stayed in the Hotel for one night, whilst on a quick visit to Barcelona, and were pleasantly surprised at how nice it was.

We had a room at the back of the hotel overlooking a square. This I would recommend if you want a quiet room as the hotel is on fairly busy road. The room was very nicely decorated (simple and quite contemporary) and a reasonable size. There was a good amount of storage space and the bed was one of the most comfy I have ever had in a hotel! The room has a mini bar, safe, and plasma screen TV. The bathroom was nicely decorated with a bath and shower and again was a reaasonable size.

We found the staff in the hotel very friendly and helpful.

The location is great - about 15 minutes walk from Place Catalunya - so out of the main touristy area. There are several good bars and restaurants in the area which means that you wouldn't have to go back into town if you didn't want to.

We didn't eat breakfast in the hotel as there are several cafes in the vicinity which are probably better value than the hotel.

I note from other reviews that some people have found the hotel noisy. As with a lot of hotels you can often hear people and whilst this hotel is no exception we didn't hear any noise until about 9am! In my view hotel noise depends on the other guests not the hotel itself. Personally I always travel with earplugs as I always anticipate some noise wherever I stay.

The only reason why I wouldn't score this hotel a five is that the hallway outside our room was a bit grubby looking and some of the decor in the room needed a bit of touching up in places - otherwise I couldn't fault it at all.

This hotel is not a 4 star hotel, maybe a 3 at best. One of our two rooms was broken into by someone with a hotel key which does not register on their computers, $390 stolen and the hotel as of yet is not wanting to use their insurance to refund for loss. The rooms are small, barely enough room to walk between the beds and the wall. Breakfast is over priced. The hotel is on the outer edge of the city center - 20 minute walk min. to get to the square.

We would like to state that the hotel Evenia Roselló **** is situated on the corner of two streets, Rosselló and Enrique Granados, just 200 metres from Rambla Catalunya and Paseo de Gracia. We have standard and business rooms available. We also have a website www.eveniahotels.com where you can find all the necessary information about the hotel. We would also like to state that we have safes available in each room (with theft insurance) which we offer free of charge and with a deposit of 20€. All our rooms have electric locks operated by using a magnetic card and a security lock accredited by C.I.H.O - INHOVA. In reference to this incident we would like to say that the door was checked and had no signs of forced entry. We carried out a check of the door and lock which showed that apart from yourselves and the chambermaid no one else accessed the room. The safe was not requested or used which was offered to them at check-in. We regret the incident that has been mentioned but would like to state that the hotel has nothing to do with it. Your sincerely,

I visit Barcelona almost 4-5x times a year 5-6 days a week. Amongst, the several hotels in BCN, the staff here is EXTREMELY rude here. This has been a consistent complaint amongst other reviews as well and the hotel seems to ignore it. One particular person is the guy with long white hair. I am writing this review while in the hotel. I stayed here for 7 days and the front desk staff is horrible. The room's insulation is so bad that you can hear the person in the other room.

Will never be bringing back the business again to this hotel. Please do yourself a favor and stay at several hotels within a block of this one.

The hotel looked really nice when we checked in late on Thursday evening. Everything was clean, although the beds were slightly uncomfortable.

However appearances are deceiving, as we found out the next day. We made a rookie mistake of keeping money in a locked up suitcase in the hotel to keep it safe from the infamous pickpockets of the city, only to have it stolen from the dishonest staff of our supposedly four-star-hotel.

While we can't be 100 percent sure that it was the staff who did it, the nochalent attitude of the receptionist was disappointing. He was very quick to imply it was our own fault for not locking our doors properly, while the doors practically close themselves when we leave the hotel room.

We only noticed that someone had meddled with our suitcase after I could not open it. After much difficulty in opening the suitcase, we noticed that everything (camera, passports, credit cards etc) was still in place except for the money. We went down to the receptionist to report this and all he could say was he could only check the records of who went into the room the next morning. We also realised to our horror that there were no security cameras in the hallways of the hotels.

We insisted on having the police come to the hotel. The police, upon arriving, seemed really professional. However, there was nothing they could do. They told us to go back to the police station the next day with the hotel's report.

The following morning, a report by the hotel showed - surprise surprise - that no one else but the hotel staff and us entered the room. And since the hotel had clearly implied that it couldn't be the fault of the hotel staff, we decided not to waste our holiday by bothering with a police report that definitely would not help us get our money back.

Having travelled in so many different countries, and staying in so many hotels and hostels, there is none that is at bad as this. I am definitely never going to stay there and will make sure none of my friends stays there too!

Location is good and decoration is nice but the main problem of this hotel is that he is very noisy. I spent 3 nights here and I have been awake each night by the noise inside the hotel. In this hotel you hear the other customers speaking in their rooms, the doors banging all the night and the vacuum cleaner in the morning. If you want to have a rest in Barcelona book another hotel.

If you want the hotel's buffet breakfast, you must book room ? breakfast. It is a buffet with great variety and worth the money. However, if you are content with simpler fare, then there are some options a few minutes walk from the hotel.
