This is a 6 storey apartment hotel, with 4 apartments per floor (at least on the first floor, I didn't go higher). It is 3 minutes walk from Gaudi's Sagrada Familia (and the local Metro station) which is surrounded by tourist shops and fast food restaurants (McDonald's, Subway, etc.), but is well away from the mass tourist bedlam of the city centre at night. There is a nice bakery across the road, and an excellent supermarket around the corner (plus lots of local shops).

The reception staff were very friendly and helpful, advising me as to where the best entrance to Sagrada Familia was, what time to visit, and suggesting that I book online and email them the tickets to print (as this would save queuing at the entrance). When I did this, the receptionist arrived at my door with the tickets 2 minutes later, before I had even walked downstairs to collect them! All worked to plan when we visited and we got straight in with no queuing.

The apartment was very nice. It had a small lounge with a settee (a bit uncomfortable after a hard day's sightseeing), chair, low table, TV etc.; a dining area with table and chairs; 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms (1 en-suite) with shower, basin and toilet). The kitchen had an induction hob with 2 rings, a microwave with built-in grill, but no oven. Other kitchen facilities included a coffee maker, toaster and large fridge. We cooked 3 of the 11 nights we stayed, but found the lack of an oven meant we had to think ahead (although we did manage to cook a pizza in the microwave/grill after a bit of thought). There were pans for the hob, but no really suitable glassware for cooking (as opposed to reheating) in the microwave. Other nights we ate out, but never tried the hotel restaurant. For breakfast we ate porridge (cooked in the microwave) and fresh bread from the baker (or toasted in the toaster if it was yesterday's bread), plus cold orange juice from the supermarket.

The central heating says "temperature controlled centrally", but when we adjusted it manually it stayed at our setting, and the room got warmer if we asked for a higher temperature, or cooler if we asked for a lower one. I think it probably reset to the centrally controlled temperature each day when we were out (i.e. no door card in the central control by our front door), but that seems sensible to avoid wastage.

The street was fairly quiet, but there were electric metal shutters which we closed at bedtime to further mask any noise and make the rooms really dark. We slept very well!

The free Wi-Fi worked well, as did the in-room safe. The maid was friendly when we saw her in the corridor, and did a good job of cleaning without moving all our things.

There were 3 of us, all over 65. One uses a wheelchair, but can walk short distances. Hence we were pleased that the local metro had a lift. With careful planning (and a metro map we had downloaded showing which stations don't have lifts) we got all over the city, and out to Montserrat and Colonia Guell without ever being stuck at a non-wheelchair-friendly metro station. Sometimes we uses a bus instead (e.g. to visit Park Guell and Montjuic), but some of the streets are a bit steep for long-distance wheelchair pushing.

When we left, the receptionist ordered us a taxi, and made sure it was a big one to take the folded wheelchair as well as our luggage. If we return to Barcelona, then we shall return to this hotel.

P.S. We didn't get caught out by the pickpockets, but were careful as we had been warned in advance. In 12 days we were approached once at the harbour with a "please sign this" ploy; saw a failed attempt in the square outside the Cathedral in central Barcelona by a man dressed up as a headless man; and saw one young couple jump back on a (fairly quiet) Metro train having discovered as they got off that his phone was missing (but nobody had seen anything - us included).

Dear Roger, We are glad to hear from you. It is a pleasure for us to receive your feedback and to know your opinion regarding your stay. Thank you for your nice words. Otherwise, I would like to point out the thing about the oven. As you were coming with a wheelchair, we allocated you in the adapted apartment for wheelchair, which unfortunately, do not have oven because of the distribution. We will be glad to take your request of having an oven in the apartment the next time you visit us :) We are looking forward to welcome you! Kind regards, Laura N Guest Experience Department

I hesitate to write about the many positives of the Hotel Hispanos 7 Suiza because of the possible perceived bias. However, they are all true! Exceptional front desk. Friendly staff. Immaculate housekeeping. Well-maintained rooms and fixtures. Extremely efficient check-in and concierge systems. Nearby restaurants/cafes and supermarkets. Short walk to Sagrada Familia and its Metro stop. One of the best hotel experiences I've had in Europe after twenty years of business and personal travel. If I return to Barcelona, I'll return to this hotel for sure.

We had a two bedroom apartment with kitchen, balcony with nice view of the street below but not noisy at night...for a family of 3 adults and 2 children. Metro 3 blocks away with parks nearby to allow children chance to unwind. "Hop on hop off" stops 3 blocks away as well. Service was outstanding and very helpful with tourist info! Grocery around corner, and restaurants nearby. Would stay again!

Eat at the Tossa restaurant nearby for good Tapa.
Shop at Consum which is just around the corner.
La Sagrada familia metro station is very close. To get to the hotel from the airport, Take the renfe R2 nord to Sant Estacio and then the blue line to Sagrada familia.

Wonderfully comfortable for our family of five, with great supermarkets close by, and strolling distance to the Sagrada Familia /metro. We stayed five nights but would have loved a little longer.
The staff were, without exception, helpful and engaging and competent English speakers. Although the room with a view we had requested was not available when we arrived (a good two hours earlier than the 2pm check in) they quickly sorted out another one.
I was confined to the room for three days with a little parting gift from an Andalucian restaurant, and I must say I was feeling delicate about hygiene. I am pleased to report that the cleaners who came each day were thorough - lots of cleaning cloths- efficient and professional in every way.
On our last night I joined my family at the atmospheric 'La Cupula' restaurant for the best - but not most expensive - meal we ate in Spain. Don't miss it.

Next morning, we took a taxi-van ordered through the front desk to the airport; the taxi driver charged us 65 euro instead of the agreed 55. We paid him but were cross, so we took a photo of the driver and emailed it to the hotel so that they could avoid this happening to other guests. Much to our astonishment, the hotel arranged for the driver to reimburse us the difference, plus 5 euro for the inconvenience - and then for it to be donated to the Sagrada Familia at our request! An exceptional effort from an exceptional team.

I booked this hotel through AGODA (also Rubbish, do not use). I won't bore you with the details but this hotel is bad value.
It was so noisy between room that the man in the next door suite ( I use this term liberally liberally) blew his nose and I thought he was in the bed next to me!.
They have an ill informed reception that really enjoyed winding us up. Breakfast was very poor and you would be better off ging to the supermarket and buying the items yourself!.
And to top it all off at the end after offering to refund our last nights stay, they are now clawing back the money in extra payments. They offered us free parking and breakfast which they now want us to pay for... SO no Refund, although I have tried to contact them on a number of occasions., They also wanted more money for the children...Although I had said quite clearly on the booking that I had 2 they seemed unaware of this fact and wanted to charge me an extra 30 euro a day per child!
If you like staying in a Elephant and Castle council flat then this is the hotel for you!
An entire apartment squeezed into a normal sized hotel room.
We left and Stayed at Hotel Niro in the barrio gothic... Fantastic

First of all we would ask our sincere apologies as a guests' negative experience is never satisfactory for us. Just note that although all our apartments are up to 4 people, the rate is different depending if you book for 1,2,3 or 4 poeple. It is true that the comments area of your booking showed that you were traveling with 2 children, but the apartment booked was on a double occupation basis, so the hotel staff informed about the extra charge at the check in (which would not have been necessary if booked a quadruple apartment instead of a double). Large apartment, small, quiet, loud, and so on. These are all opinions and we really regret not having fulfilled your expectations and not being able to make your stay pleasant, but it is worth mentioning that we offered the option of changing to another type of apartment the next day but it was not accepted. We would sincerely like to have the opportunity to welcome you again to try to prove that your bad experience was only a set of circumstances and that you can really have a nice stay with us.

Barcelona is an expensive city to visit. It can be difficult to find a hotel that is modern, clean, centrally located, and still allows you to maintain a vacation budget. This hotel addresses these concerns. Yes, this hotel is not inexpensive, but compared to other hotels in Barcelona, this hotel is a good value. We are a middle aged couple (50's) who was accompanied by an elderly parent (96). We speak Castellano, however the hotel staff does speak English so communications was not a problem.

Our suite was on the 5th floor, in the back of the building. Evenings and nights were very quiet.; so any concerns you may have about getting a good night's sleep in a densely populated city were not a problem. In addition to a kitchen table, the balcony has a table for outdoor dining, so we ate all our evening meals there relaxing and enjoying the beautiful sunset. The kitchette is equiped with mini-refridgerator, dishwasher, flatware, dishes, venthood and stovetop. We cleaned the kitchen after our meals so as to avoid the costly cleaning fees.

There are two neighborhood supermarkets (Consum and Carrefour) around the corners from the hotel with reasonable prices on local produce so you can either prepare your own meals from scratch or buy cheeses, sausages, a variety of cured hams, freshly baked bread, and local wines, as we did, for late night dining.

Although the hotel is three blocks from the Sagrada Familia, were there are many tourists, the street was safe. Getting a taxis outside the hotel to visit most tourist sites was easy, costing about 5 to 7 Euros.

The neighborhood is inhabited by a mixture of mainly elderly and professional couples, so there are some restaurants and cafes, however you'll most likely find more restaurants in the areas of town frequented by tourists. This was not a problem since we were sightseeing in areas of the city were we could find a reasonably priced menu del dia.

Between 7:30 and 11:00 an extensive buffet breakfast is provided offering eggs, yoguts, fresh fruits, cereals, pasteries, sausages, sobrasatta, fresh bread, coffee, milk, fruit juices, cheese, and ham. This is very helpful since trying to find a modestly priced restaurant in the morning in Barcelona is a challenge.

I would certainly stay here again.

Four of us - 2 adult couples - stayed at the Hispanos 7 Suiza (H7S) for 8 nights 12/28/08 - 1/6/09.

The hotel is about 10 blocks from the center of Barcelona, but a subway is easily available. (Ten rides cost less than 8 Euros and rides can be shared.) The hotel is 5 floor high and consists of 2 bedroom, 2 bath apartments. There is a front desk that's staffed 24/7. A free breakfast (cold cereals, yougurt, fresh fruit, pastries and breads, juice, and beverages) is provided in the upscale restaurant on street level.

The apartment is about 400 sq. feet. There's A long living room with a separate kitchen area at one end. The appliances are modern (d/w, built in oven, 2 burner range top, undercounter refrig,. with small freezer, microwave, toaster, and washer/dryer). The furniture is basic - upholstered coach and easy chair, small TV, glass top dining room table for 4. The living room - kitchen is about 11ft wide x 20 ft long. There are 2 small bedrooms, about 10 ft x 10ft. (Each has its own closet with hanging space, shelving, and drawers.) One has a queen bed, the other has twin beds. (The twins can be pushed together.) There's a hall bathroom (small tub with hand-held that doesn't mount on a wall) bidet, toilet, sink and lots of mirrors. We assigned that bath to one couple. The other bath is attached to the twin-bedded room. It has a small shower, toilet, and sink. It's tight, but it's certainly functional.

The apartment has it's own heating and a/c system. It worked well. There's also a front balcony - probably 11 ft x 3.5 ft.

There were a couple of problems. Thin doors and walls make privacy within the apartment an issue. One can also hear conversations in the adjoining unit - but this wasn't as serious as it may sound.

There are supermarkets around the corner and places with prepared foods within a block or two. We didn't prepare meals but it was convenient to have cooked food and drinks available.

The place was small for 4, but it suited our purposes. The modern bathrooms and kitchen were far from depressing. The rate was 230 euros a day plus a 7% tax. That's reasonable for 2 couples. We were there during an expensive time period. My guess is that discounts are readily available at other times of the year..

We found H7S a good alternative to a 4 star hotel. And during this holiday season, two rooms at a 4 star hotel would have cost significantly more.

We just returned from a week in Barcelona, where we split our time between the Hispanos 7 Suiza and the Hotel Arts. We loved the H7S and highly recommend it.

First, the space was invaluable. 2 BRs, kitchen, 2 baths... more than plenty of room to spread out. It compared well to a timeshare or residence club (without the pool). As a family of 4 (2 young kids) it was nice to have a clothes washer in the unit as well.

The on-site restaurant was nice. Breakfast was included in our rate, and while not amazing it was a great way to start the day. We ate dinner at La Cupula one evening and loved it -- very high-quality food.

We enjoyed the location. The kids loved seeing La Sagrada Familia every day as we headed to the Metro station. We also enjoyed being in a residential neighborhood.

The staff were friendly and accommodating. Most of the other guests seemed to be visiting from other parts of Spain, and they were friendly as well.

When we return to Barcelona, we will most definitely return to the H7S!!!

the quality of accommodation was marred slightly by the massage bath not working for 3 days and having to ask 3 times for it to be seen to - seems the batteries of the controller were flat. mildly disappointing also was the lack of music - the site advertised music but the receptionist explained that the hotel's entire system wasn't working at present. digital tv wasn't anything to call home about, mostly spanish & german channels, one italian channel and the obligatory cnn news channel. my idea of satellite and digital tv includes access to movie channels, broad range of news channels, etc - i.e., a bigger selection of english stuff.
breakfast wasn't included in the price either - c'mon guys, we were paying 428 a night so i would have expected at the very least a free coffee & pastry every morning.
essentially i don't think this was a luxury establishment as professed on their site - had all the exterior trappings but fell down on the detail. i've stayed at many serviced apartments and found this experience lacked a little polish.

The kitchen was well equipped with supplies. We cooked while there but mostly for breakfast (eggs and such) so really just needed the most basic cutlery. If I recall, spices (i.e. Salt, pepper and sugar) were not included so keep this in mind.
