My wife and I, with our daughter, stayed here for three nights. The location is perfect if you want to be far away from the hustle and bustle, and the corresponding noise of busy neighborhoods by La Rambla and Barri Gotic/Gothic Quarter. Tucked amid a local neighborhood a block or so away from Sagrada Familia and very close to the Sagrada Familia metro stop, our two bedroom, 2-bath apartment on the top floor/5th floor (although there are 7 flights of stairs to get up their 5th floor - there is a rather spacious elevator which I used even though wife and daughter tried to guilt me into walking up the stairs on a daily basis...however, I was not opposed to walking down the stairs), with a balcony offering partial views of Sagrada Familia, was ideal. We didn't eat breakfast in the restaurant within the premises and purchased items at a nearby grocery store instead. The apartment had a small refrigerator, washing machine, dish washer and some pots and pans with dishes...but you had to either buy your own dishwashing liquid or use their "package" of dishwashing liquid and detergent for 5 Euros. They also supplied a microwave oven as well as a coffee maker, although you had to purchase their specialized coffee pods (not like Keurig) as they weren't readily available in the local market. If you like coffee in the morning, there are a few cafes nearby and a Starbuck's is a couple of blocks away by the Sagrada Familia.
Positives:
- Relatively quiet location in a residential neighborhood, within walking distance to one of the major attractions in Barcelona; very close to the metro
- Loved the 2 bedroom, 2-bath configuration for the apartment with all the amenities
- Front desk personnel were helpful, especially Eva who provided useful information for our exploration of the city and its attractions
- Clean and well maintained apartment, although there were a couple of locks for the sliding door that I had to "fix" to ensure it locked at night and while we were away.
- A safe was provided in the room for convenience and peace of mind
- Ample space, specially with the living room, dining table, kitchen, and a balcony
Negatives:
- Traffic noise can still be heard even on the top floor and even with the shutters down...would imagine traffic noise would be worse in rooms located in lower floors
- WiFi, although free, can be spotty on the top floor.
- While there is no free mini-bar, we would have appreciated some complimentary coffee pods to satisfy the morning coffee cravings (without having to walk outside to a café...and not have to settle for instant coffee)
All in all, a very good place for a family to stay in or for those seeking to stay within a residential neighborhood to get a feel for how Barcelonians "live". If you prefer a place with more nightlife, then I would suggest a place by La Rambla or Barri Gotic would be more to your liking.
